Cable News Race

Over the weekend Rob did a post on the AP doing a puff piece for Keith Olbermann.  Olbermann’s as moonbatty as they come and the AP apparently likes it.

In the comments Dave Miller expressed the thougght that Olbermann was upcoming and O’Reilly was shrinking.

Well here’s the latest numbers.  I report and you decide.

I still think that MSNBC benefitted from the Foley media event more Fox.

From Drudge:

CABLE NEWS RACE

FOXNEWS O’REILLY 2,216,000
FNC SHEP SMITH 1,437,000

For reference these are the numbers that Dave linked to to make his point.
Here are the last quarters numbers to compare with.

I read somewhere that Olbermann’s numbers were being hyped by comparing his very best numbers ever to the lowest numbers of the year from all the other shows.

Man, I am really surprised that Olbermann is even doing that well. Higher than Hardball?

I think whatever ratings increase Olbermann has are due exclusively to his growing cult status on the rightwing blogs.

Yes, I am an Olbermaniac!

I was making the point on Rob’s post that there probably is room for Olbermann to attract more moonbats.

The fact that he hasn’t attracted them shows that he’s not doing well at even that.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

I find it amazing that O’Reilly has those kind of numbers. My Gawd, do people actually listen to the crap that dribbles out of his mouth, or do they mute it and read the scroll bar at the bottom till a guest comes on? If this is how most people get their information we are screwed.

I watched O’reilly pretty regularily during the active war.  I gave up on him after that.

When leftest complain about Foxnews they should look at their lineup when I get home.

The only conservative is Sean Hannity and he’s sharing his show with a flaming liberal.

Your numbers are total audience and whether you like it or not, those numbers are not the important numbers.  It’s the demo, 25-54, the execs, the advertisers and especially the hosts care about… FYI.

Also, the “moonbats” as you call them… have they ever showed up in the ratings for any type of media?  No they haven’t.  For the last 15 years the conservatives have dominated talk radio and even to some extent television news (I speaking of Fox) and therefore the liberals have retracted from “active participation in the media”, ie, the ratings.

I’m just saying, that is one theory around the media world.  I’m not defending the liberals… cuz I ain’t one, I’m just stating what I’ve heard.

And, Olbermann is the man!

People 55 and older don’t spend money?  Tell you what the rest of you battle for that 25-54 demo and I’ll make billions with the 55 and ups.

Dave : “And, Olbermann is the man!”

Olbermann is a drooling, squawking moron. MHO.

Actually I can’t stand most of these guys, including O’Reilly. There is one I do like… Sean Hannity.  I don’t always agree with him, but at least he has a brain and can separate reality from goofy conspiracy theories.  What little respect I had for Olbermann was completely lost when he started pushing the Ohio voting fraud meme.

Carrick on October 13, 2006 at 07:34 pm

But Carrick, Olbermoron is correct! There is voter fraud in Ohio, the Dems got caught, and are currently being caught, working their usual tricks. ACORN has their ass in a vise right now in several states, OH,PA, and NY just being the 3 nearest me.
