That’s Battlestar Galactica for the luddites out there…

It’s the second best TV sci-fi ever. First: Babylon 5.

Dear Lord… and up until now, I had counted on the two of you as being among the most statesman-like, intelligent commentators I knew of.

Beam me up, Scotty....

I enjoyed Babylon 5, but I’d give the “second best” nod to ”Firefly”- short lived, but brilliant.

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

pparets,

Heh.  We hosted the Bay Area Bar Fly symposium and dinner yesterday…

Pilgrim,

B5 was all over the place (of course, most long running Sci-Fi shows have that issue).  Somehow it just nevr clicked for me.

Proof,

I don’t know how I managed to miss Firefly when it ran, but I did.  I have since seen the whole series on DVD (and the movie Serenity as well) and have to agree that it is top notch in terms of writing, acting, and production values.  Grim humor seems to he a Joss Whedon specialty.

I’ll second that motion.

I couldn’t get into Babylon 5.

I loved the show and movie, though Joss tends to kill and humiliate loved characters just to mess with our minds.

I’ve kept track of a number of actors Joss used in his shows.  They don’t accomplish much without his writing.  I think he writes for the specific actor to speak (not act) and so comes out differently.

Loved Babylon but the *#&^^$&%^% station kept popping it all over different times.  Can’t bring myself to watch 5 years of TV I missed.

A good friend of mine named Rob, btw, made those great alien masks for Babylon 5.

He did the actual work, but his boss got the Emmy.

Is he bitter? Oh, noooo . . . .

I understand that part of that was merely contract negotiation. Some loved characters were killed who did not sign on for any possible sequels!

I also missed Firefly when it ran & didn’t hear about BSG until the second season.

I’d put BSG first, then Firefly, but possibly because Firefly didn’t get to run as long.  I got the wife hooked on BSG, but she never warmed up to Firefly.

I actually got her to watch a few episodes of Jericho this weekend.  In her words, I’ve “nerd-ified” her.

April is getting closer…

Usually I’ve found that guys named Rob are the credit stealers, not stealee’s.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

April 4th.  BSG fills the void that the end of the season of Breaking Bad and the short run of John Adams on HBO leaves.  I am stoked.

Heh,

Though I’d be praying that it stayed in place…

I have brought up that “I’ve been Robbed” before.
