Breaking news.

From our brothers across the Gulf, Al Jazeera. A fairly evenhanded article, better than CNN or the Big3 will do it.

This,"He said Bush used the province to highlight Anbar as an example of how successful the “surge” strategy has been in the region, pointing to a drop in attacks by Sunni fighters.

The drop in violence is attributed to Sunni Arab leaders joining forces with the US military to combat al-Qaeda fighters, although it is unclear whether they will back a unified Iraqi government as well.” is not nearly as snarky as American press usually are.

Do Bush’s Speechwriters Know What Cheney is Doing?

Increase Decrease August 28, 2007 (LPAC)--Speaking to the American Legion today, President Bush ranted and raved about two “strains” of “violent Islamic radicalism:” Sunni extremism embodied by Al Qaeda, and Shia extremism, embodied by Iran. These “two dangerous strains of extremism” are now closing in on Iraq, Bush railed, vowing to confront them both.

When told about Bush’s lunatic speech, Lyndon LaRouche said that Bush should get his speechwriters to check out what the Cheney-Bush Administration is actually doing in Iraq. As LPAC has reported, the U.S. is trying to carry out the Cheney & British strategy of mobilizing Sunni forces, with Saudi backing, against Iran and Iraqi Shi’ites.

In today’s speech, Bush further charged that Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons threatens to put the region “under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust.” He repeated accusations that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces are training and arming Iraqis to carry out attacks on U.S. forces, and said that “attacks on our bases and troops by Iranian-supplied munitions have increased in the last few months.”

“I will take actions necessary to protect our troops,” Bush declared. “I have authorized our military commanders in Iraq to confront Tehran’s murderous activities.”

Within hours of Bush’s speech, a number of U.S. military and intelligence specialists contacted EIR representatives, to voice their concern that Bush had gone totally off the deep end, and had, in effect, issued a declaration of war against Iran. The same message was conveyed in a press release by Dr. Trita Parsi, of the National Iranian American Council, the largest Iranian-American organization in the country. One retired military officer told EIR, “I believe Cheney has gotten to Bush and convinced him to start a war against Iran--without even seriously attempting any kind of diplomacy.”

I hope the name “fasteddie” refers to his running speed or his pool shooting ability because it evidently doesn’t refer to the speed of his synapses.
