Between Barack and a Hard Face

...is where the Democrats find themselves today! Despite the shortcomings of the Republican Party and its candidate, it’s hard to pass this meltdown, this train wreck of the Democrats without at least a hint of schadenfreude!

Recent revelations of the character of the man with whom Barack Obama has been affiliated for twenty years, a man who is charitably a whackadoo, or more realistically a race mongerer: The “Rev.” Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor and “spiritual advisor”, have cast new doubts on Obama’s judgment and fitness to be President and Commander In Chief of the US.

But even as the good ship Barack Obama rapidly takes on water, Democrats are faced with the alternative: Hillary Diane Rodham Milhous Clinton, a woman of equally dubious morality and chockablock with ethical baggage of her own. Sigh! What’s a mother to do?

The Democratic Party of 2008, after all, is proving to be the least Democratic Party in the nation’s history! After threatening to disenfranchise Michigan and Florida (Yes! Ironically, Florida!) for violating the party’s rules in having the temerity to change one arbitrary date for their primaries to another, the Dems are scrambling to create some formula, some percentage of representation or “do overs” fraught with opportunities for fraud and confusion to break what appears to be a virtual tie for support between the two ethically challenged candidates.

Add to the mix, the whole concept of a “Super delegate”, one who can vote against the wishes of the majority of voters if the party bosses decide he or she is not electable enough. There’s Democracy in action! Yeah. Right!

So you have the Candidate of Hope running away from his long time mentor and spiritual advisor, Hillary Diane, abused wife of the Man from Hope, running away from endorsements by Eliot Spitzer as quickly as she runs away from her past, and the Democrat party bosses trying to run away from anything vaguely resembling a democratic selection of a party nominee.

I have to admit, that while far from inducing confidence in the future of the Republic, this has been one of the most entertaining elections in recent history!

ahhh, since this is techically a republic, i.e. representative government, thid race may demostrate just how “power corrupts” is always a human frality. Should be more than entertaining to the Republicans; especially sad for the Democrats.
