As the Worm Turns on Global Warming “Consensus”
Of course Conservatives know we have a clearer world vision than do Leftists… that’s why we are “Right” (in more ways than one).
Even if you are not a climatologist, if you have followed the Left’s Method of Operation for any length of time, you have learned to be suspicious of the truth and motivations behind their Crisis of the Day, whichever it may be.
In character with this MO is the great Hue and Cry —the shrieking alarum, meant to short-circuit reasoned thought and careful deliberation—the suppression of dissent, even the denial that any exists, and the character assassination of those with the temerity to speak out. Like clockwork, so it has been in spades with the trumped-up Algoreian Crisis of Global Warming.
Scare schoolchildren with the prospects of drowning polar bears, panic coastal cities and island nations with dread thoughts of rapid inundation, and by dint of this hyped-up fear, demand sweeping powers and of course, lots of money to combat the Global Warming Bogeyman.
Not so fast Hippy.
Today, Marc Moreno posted on the Inhofe EPW Press Blog that:

Over 400 prominent scientists from more than two dozen countries recently voiced significant objections to major aspects of the so-called “consensus” on man-made global warming. These scientists, many of whom are current and former participants in the UN IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), criticized the climate claims made by the UN IPCC and former Vice President Al Gore.

Even some in the establishment media now appear to be taking notice of the growing number of skeptical scientists. In October, the Washington Post Staff Writer Juliet Eilperin conceded the obvious, writing that climate skeptics “appear to be expanding rather than shrinking.” Many scientists from around the world have dubbed 2007 as the year man-made global warming fears “bite the dust.”

Many of the scientists featured in this report consistently stated that numerous colleagues shared their views, but they will not speak out publicly for fear of retribution. Atmospheric scientist Dr. Nathan Paldor, Professor of Dynamical Meteorology and Physical Oceanography at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, author of almost 70 peer-reviewed studies, explains how many of his fellow scientists have been intimidated.
It’s interesting to note that many of these 400 don’t have the composition of activists and scientists from unrelated fields that characterized the initial IPCC report supporters. Mr. Moreno points out that this counter-crop of scientists are subject matter experts:
The distinguished scientists featured in this new report are experts in diverse fields, including: climatology; oceanography; geology; biology; glaciology; biogeography; meteorology; oceanography; economics; chemistry; mathematics; environmental sciences; engineering; physics and paleoclimatology. Some of those profiled have won Nobel Prizes for their outstanding contribution to their field of expertise and many shared a portion of the UN IPCC Nobel Peace Prize with Vice President Gore.
You would think the Left would eventually learn from being wrong so often. I guess Anne Coulter is spot-on when she says If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans.
