Anna’s One Year Blog Anniversary!

Today, May 20th, is my one year anniversary of blogging at Say Anything (and any place else for that matter).
When I started out, I didn’t have a clue as to what blogging was all about.  Before coming to SA I had only read a couple blogs and I had certainly NEVER commented on one. I was clueless when it came to blogging, but it didn’t take me long to understand I possessed the most important talent in blogging… An opinion.  And boy, do I ever have that, lol… as some of you have noticed.
Over the past year, I have mellowed out a lot and have relaxed my seriousness towards many issues. Of course, there are still some important ones I firmly stand by.
In this one year, I have come to love blogging and continue to visit and opine at a few other blogs, but SA is by far my favorite. SA is unique compared to all the other blogs and I’m pleased I found my way here. Just don’t ask how I found my way here. I just remember I came during Rob’s banishment from Turtle Mountain. (no doubt the mention of that should rile a few up)
Bwahahahaha… oh, forget I did that ok?
I have made some wonderful bloggy friends and I don’t feel my day is complete until I visit what y’all have to say and I look forward to, some day, attending some of the blog meet gatherings I have been invited too.  Yes, Rob… that’s a hint that maybe SA should consider a blog meet also. After all.. we’re all adults aren’t we?  Annnnnnyway....
Although I refer to my posting on SA as being from “the gutter” (aka reader blogs), I appreciate all of you who read and those of you who read and leave a comment. A special thank you to those of you who prefer to comment via e-mail. I am even fortunate enough to be blogrolled on other bogs I frequent. Which, I suppose may even account for some of the strange commenter’s hanging around on occasion.
I appreciate y’all.
Thanks Rob.. I know I’ve made you groan and roll your eyes at some of my postings, (not to mention the many warnings and editings I have gotten from the Port Authority), but you’ve always made me feel very welcome here along with everyone else.
Merci tous

Anna,

Congratulations!  Has it really been so long?

Actually, both your commentary and your beautiful pictures have made SAB all the more intriguing and enjoyable for the rest of us.  Thank you!

It seems longer.

likwidshoe on May 20, 2008 at 09:18 am

Thanks Bat1.. LOL, I still laugh about that first discussion of ours here on SA. Not a very pretty one to say the least, but friendship prevailed for sure. smile

Lik… I’m not sure if I want to know the meaning of your comment

Anna, you’re a class act.  Live long and prosper.

Happy Anniversary, Anna! Glad you are here.

So, this is your first blogiversary?

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 11:11 am

wow that is really cool.... I like how you said, “I have the most important talent in blogging: an opinion.” It’s such an awesome thing, really. I remember a year or two ago Faux News’ Bill O’Rielly said he wants to “chuck a hand grenade at bloggers”, which makes me laugh. As bloggers we defy the the corporate stronghold on information that they once had.  Breaking the dam on information regulation for one year, CONGRATS! :D

Mike Liberty Peterson on May 20, 2008 at 11:26 am

MLP: I hate to burst your leftie bubble, but the very thing that brought blogs into the mainstream was our busting Dan Rather, liar and propagandist for the leftie MSM.

Mike Liberty Peterson said, I remember a year or two ago Faux News...

Considering that Fox News gets most of its news from the AP, you’ve got a point there.

Is that the point you wanted to make with your tired “Faux” slam?

likwidshoe on May 20, 2008 at 12:35 pm

"you hate to break my leftie bubble?”

Sir, I’m the furthest thing away from anything left-wing.

On an unrelated note, Dan Rather has little to do with the rise of internet blogs. Besides, the “leftie MSM” kicked him out a long time ago.

If you haven’t figured it out right now, we have a false left/right paradigm in this country whereas there are an equal number of liars and propagandists on both sides, which in the end, neither can claim to know any real truth worth giving two cents about.

Mike Liberty Peterson - If you haven’t figured it out right now, we have a false left/right paradigm in this country...

What is the “left/right paradigm” and what is false about it?

...which in the end, neither can claim to know any real truth worth giving two cents about.

What is happening here? Are you admitting ignorance on everything or are you somehow above the ignorant hordes who buy into the “false left/right paradigm”?

likwidshoe on May 20, 2008 at 12:40 pm

What is the “left/right paradigm” and what is false about it?

I have no idea what might be in MLP’s mind, but the MSM version of “left” and “right”, politically speaking, is wrong.  In the first place, those who are regarded as “left wing"(representing anarchy and individualism) are actually “right wing"(totalitarian central authority, collectivism).  Furthermore, conservatives(those who follow the Founding Principles of the US) are not “right wing”.  We are really the moderates here.  We represent a balance between individual independence and a minimum amount of central authority(just enough for national defense and maintenance of the infrastructure and currency, as well as enforcement of contracts).

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 12:46 pm

What I am trying to get to is something called CONTROLLED DEBATE. You see, we were never meant to be a country with a political system that paints everything either BLACK or WHITE. This limits any real, productive discussion on real issues that matters.

It’s just a matter of examining things outside controlled debate.

To learn more about controlled debate and the false left/right paradigm, here’s a google search-
http://www.google.com/search?q=false+left+right+paradigm&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Yes, it is possible to have republicans and democrats BOTH offer crappy and worthless solutions to problems.
IMAGINE THAT!!

Mike Liberty Peterson on May 20, 2008 at 12:50 pm

On an unrelated note, Dan Rather has little to do with the rise of internet blogs. Besides, the “leftie MSM” kicked him out a long time ago.

Entirely false.  The blog that busted Dan Rather was(and still is) called “Little Green Footballs”, so you can Google it and find out the truth.

If you haven’t figured it out right now, we have a false left/right paradigm in this country whereas there are an equal number of liars and propagandists on both sides Also false; the lefties have to lie all the time, because if they revealed their real agenda, no one would vote for them.  Conservatives don’t have that problem., which in the end, neither can claim to know any real truth worth giving two cents about. You speak only for yourself; for the record, I do believe that you don’t know any real truth, but projecting that on the rest of us is completely wrong.

Hope and change, in a free world, are the private possessions of motivated individuals.

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 12:50 pm

The other thing is,

LIBERAL (left wing) in short means BIGGER GOVERNMENT, leaning towards more socialistic, centralized-gov, collective or communistic, ideals (emphasizes collective more than indivudualism).

CONSERVATIVE (right wing) in short means LESSER GOVERNMENT, leaning towards more indivualistic, de-centralized governing, more liberty-oriented ideals, the whole “government leave us alone” mantra. UNFORTUNATELY, since the whole safety and security fads took over, the “conservatives” have been more liberal than the liberals themselves when they have been in power. Government has done nothing but increase massively under Bush’s watch.

Lastly, I think Ronald Reagan describes the modern conservative brand the best:

“The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom.”

Mike Liberty Peterson on May 20, 2008 at 01:02 pm

MLP: Wrong again.  “Right wing” means either monarchy or military dictatorship.  Duh.
Conservatives are not “right wing”.

Hope and change, in a free world, are the private possessions of motivated individuals.

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 01:18 pm

...a political system that paints everything either BLACK or WHITE.

You’re the one doing that.  It’s all in your uninformed mind.

Hope and change, in a free world, are the private possessions of motivated individuals.

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 01:19 pm

hahaha. “Right-Wing” either means monarchy or military dictatorship??? And left-wing, as you said, means anarchy???

where do you get this??

Mike Liberty Peterson on May 20, 2008 at 01:22 pm

Robert, our REPUBLIC was never meant to be a two-party/black-white monopoly that shuns out every other alternative.

Mike Liberty Peterson on May 20, 2008 at 01:29 pm

where do you get this??

History.  In the French govt, those who sat on the left side(left wingers) were those who wanted pure democracy(anarchy), and those who sat on the right side(right wingers) supported the monarchy.
In the English Parliament, the House of Commons is on the left side, and the House of Lords is on the right side.

You are correct to say that the left/right paradigm is inaccurate today, but you are apparently ignorant as to the reality behind that truth.  I guess you just like to make things up, and being ignorant(like about the blogosphere outing Dan Rather) enables you to do that.

Hope and change, in a free world, are the private possessions of motivated individuals.

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 01:29 pm

History.  In the French govt, those who sat on the left side(left wingers) were those who wanted pure democracy(anarchy), and those who sat on the right side(right wingers) supported the monarchy.

Are we the french government?? do we not have different definitions then them when it comes to “right/left” and “conservative/liberal”????

Heck, “right” and left” have flip-flopped meanings in America from time to time, and you’re still going with the French Gov from whatever time period.

For Dan Rather, I did not know that it was his blog that outed him. However I still am one to believe that blogs may have been popular before he lost his job thanks to a blog, but I really couldn’t tell ya. In the end, whether or not it was Dan Rather who propelled blogs to its heightened status, it doesn’t matter. I was moreso talking about internet media in general defying corporate media, some of which, are not blogs and may have little to nothing at all with Rather. Who cares, though.

Mike Liberty Peterson on May 20, 2008 at 01:42 pm

what’s left and right in one country may be completely opposite of what’s considered right left in another.

Get a clue!

Mike Liberty Peterson on May 20, 2008 at 01:45 pm

Typical leftie: changing definitions to suit his bullshit.  Definitional relativism: things mean what you want them to mean, right?

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 01:50 pm

MLP: Since you’re so ignorant of history, here some more info for you.  The confusion started with Karl Marx, whose system was designed to replace monarchy(and religion) with one centrally-controlled State.  However, he told the Big Lie that he was really “for the people"(just like Hillary and Obama), and was really against the monarchy, so he was labled as “left-wing”.  The reality of Marxism is that it simply replaces the hereditary nobility with a political elite(the dictatorship of the proletariat), while promising that some day “the State will wither away”.  Fat chance.  Marxism is simply another right-wing scheme, and all you lefties are really right wingers who are lying about your real intentions to run our lives.

Hope and change, in a free world, are the private possessions of motivated individuals.

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 01:54 pm

Mike, robert108 insists on using the old definitions of right and left while some here, such as myself, rather much prefer the newer pendulum left/right definitions most people use today. The far right would be total freedom aka anarchy and the far left would be totalitarianism in it’s various guises. I prefer this definition because it’s much more descriptive and it is a true “left/right paradigm”.

The left/right paradigm is not a bad thing if it is descriptive of one’s views. There is no black and white. Almost everybody has views that exist in the shades.

Now if only we could all agree to a common definition.

likwidshoe on May 20, 2008 at 01:54 pm

Typical leftie: changing definitions to suit his bullshit.

the lefties have to lie all the time, because if they revealed their real agenda, no one would vote for them.  Conservatives don’t have that problem

And Republicans/Right wingers are… completely innocent, and their agendas are completely transparent, eh? hahaha. Somehow lefties are more evil than righties…

No, in the end, they’re BOTH for bigger, more expansive government, as this is proven. both parties are STATISTS. Republicans generally love the state more than they love God. The democrats and their socialism… well.. no comment necessary.

The end.
out

Mike Liberty Peterson on May 20, 2008 at 01:59 pm

Now if only we could all agree to a common definition.

Isn’t that the definition of “definition”?  I prefer the historical version, because the current one is arbitrary, and is being changed daily in the MSM to suit its propaganda purposes, just like Karl Marx changed it to suit his desire for the violent overthrow of his enemies.  By any sensible interpretation, conservatives aren’t “right-wing”, unless you consider that the US is a right wing country, which is ridiculous.

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 02:00 pm

In a way, it’s like the word “liberal”, which used to mean “freedom-loving” and “individualistic”, but now the “liberals” want to mandate our behavior and every aspect of our lives.  Go figure.

robert108 on May 20, 2008 at 02:09 pm

Here’s what happens: those with a totalitarian bent are always changing definitions so that they can better hide both their intentions and their methods.

“liberal” - “progressive”
“pro-choice” - “anti-choice”
“fair”
“equality” - “affirmative action” - “positive discrimination”
“universal”
“reality based”
“democratic”

After awhile, the language has to change to reflect the fact that these words no longer mean what they used to mean. The totalitarians eventually invert the meanings.

I’d say that enough time has passed since the olde French bastard days of yore where the totalitarian monarchy sat on the right side and the democracy espousers sat on the left. This is the definition in common use today.

Fight to keep our language, but when it’s lost, it’s lost. Things evolve. It’s natural, albeit not always positive.

I see MLP admits to his moral paralysis

You have stated several times that you are unable to differentiate in any way between the various philosophies of governance from which we may choose, thus the comment.  Everything is not all the same; that’s moral relativism.  Some ways of governance are better than others, much better.  You apparently don’t know that.

You’ve made no bones about the fact that you want a one-party republican rule---and the republican party is lily-white.

Two lies from you, “jack”:  I have made no bones about the fact that I want Constitutional rule, and either Party is welcome to participate in that.  It’s just that the Dems no longer stand for anything remotely Constitutional anymore.  I support Republicans by default only.  However, McCain is another case…
Your second lie(and a racist one, at that) is that the Republican Party is “lily-white”.  Clarence Thomas and Condoleeza Rice leap immediately to mind.
In fact, black Americans are always welcome to join the conservative side, despite your racist lies.
It’s you lefties who are intolerant of blacks who exercise their free choice to follow the Constitution.
