Americans Mistrust Their Federal Government?

On the heels of the Padilla trial juror selection where a substantial number of perspective jurors blame the president fot the 9/11 attacks or are not sure who is responsible, there is this Rasussen poll entitled 22% Believe Bush Knew About 9/11 Attacks in Advance

Democrats in America are evenly divided on the question of whether George W. Bush knew about the 9/11 terrorist attacks in advance. Thirty-five percent (35%) of Democrats believe he did know, 39% say he did not know, and 26% are not sure.

Republicans reject that view and, by a 7-to-1 margin, say the President did not know in advance about the attacks. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 18% believe the President knew and 57% take the opposite view.

Overall, 22% of all voters believe the President knew about the attacks in advance. A slightly larger number, 29%, believe the CIA knew about the attacks in advance. White Americans are less likely than others to believe that either the President or the CIA knew about the attacks in advance. Young Americans are more likely than their elders to believe the President or the CIA knew about the attacks in advance.

The mistrust of government lsrgely instigated by leftist groups over the ages is paying big dividends for the hate mongers.  Of course, Bush bashing has made a big contribution to this mistrust since I don’t believe that this would be the poll result if the oresident had been a Democrat at the time of the attack.  As usual, the media has been a major accomplice in the sowing of mistrust as has the liberal indoctrination in our schools.

Mistrust of the fed gov’t is a conservative value. Duh. People who whine about people who don’t ‘trust the fed’ are socialists. Remember?

Who the hell trusts the government?!?!? I was raised Southern and Conservative and I was taught to never, not FFFFing ever, believe the government intends me or mine anything but harm. Uncle Sugar is a lying son of a bitch. DD, being a vet you know this.

As for believing that any Presidential Admin would knowingly allow a terrorist attack for any reason, that is asinine. I have a very low opinion of Bill Clinton, and yet I would need a bit of proof before I would say he did such a thing.

Did Military Intel know such a thing could happen? Yes. And many voices in that quarter have been saying it since early ‘80s. CIA has never emphasized terrorist capabilities and reach. They have been tight focussed on nation threats, and to a much lesser degree crime/drug cartels. The Civilian side of our national defense mechanism has been misdirected and emasculated for decades. And I am greatly puzzled as to why that ain’t been rectified during the last 6 years.

sparkie, perhaps my title and leadin a bit misleading aince this was apparently a one iaaue poll.  However, that doesn’t explain the greater number of Democrats (liberala) than Republicans (conservatives) that think the government staged the 9/11 attack.  I was also reflecting on actions of other groups that are predomintly liberal e.g. environmental groups that oppose government actions whatever they are.

I was taught to never, not FFFFing ever, believe the government intends me or mine anything but harm.

2H, but I think you support the Iraqi war efforts, don’t you.

You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.

Actions that should have been taken 25 years ago.

Government does not have your, or anyone else’s, best interests as their guiding precepts. Expanding and retaining power is the sole purpose of government. And when it has no fear of, or respect for, the populace it will accelerate its growth and efforts to force the population into submission.

What other entity has such aspirations?
