Al Qaeda Faces Insurgency in Baghdad

Thomas Lifson

Surprise, surprise!

Ray Robison’s thesis that jihad is fracturing gains more support in a report from the Washington Post:

Sunni residents of a west Baghdad neighborhood used assault rifles and a roadside bomb to battle the Sunni insurgent group al-Qaeda in Iraq this week, leaving at least 28 people dead and six injured, residents said Thursday.

[...]

The Marxists had a phrase for this sort of weakness: “internal contradictions.” One doesn’t need to be a Hegelian to understand that True Believers inevitably turn against each other, and regard the heresy of small differences as even more infuriating than the clash with those of entirely different belief systems.

Read the whole thing(link to source article in AT article).

Wonder if the MSM will report this?

It’s not outside the realms of possibility that these local residents just want some peace and quiet in their neighbourhood. If the Iraqi police and army or the US forces in the area are too stretched to make this happen, then it’s down to the people who live there. Getting rid of AQ in your neighbourhood is going to reduce your chance of being a target.
I doubt it is about religion (or religious views) as the American Thinker article suggests, but more about quality of life.

Umm, yes?

MikeA: I mean the real MSM, like ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, and the Comedy Channel.  Not to mention the AP and Reuters.  But then, you knew that; you were just being obtuse.  How about the NYT?  Since they treasure “the peoples’ right to know”, at least when it comes to undermining our national security, surely they will be all over this one.  /sarcasm

Robert108,
MSNBC, ABC news, CBS, New York Times, Fox News, The Boston Globe(if I’m not mistaken, Boston is another hotbed of lefty-liberalism), your home town LA Times, Reuters, Iranian Press TV, USA today. Hope that’s enough MSM for you /sarcasm.

The bulk of these articles are from an AP report.

Flamer, you are correct that Al Queda has to be wiped out by the very people they prey upon.

As for this article being covered, I have not found it as a frontpage piece anywhere.

And we are hearing a ringing silence on the fact that several non-Al Queda groups/militias have asked to negotiate a cease fire with Iraqi Government and Coalition Forces.

By killing massive numbers of civilians Al Queda has shat in their own den, so to speak. Their tactical and strategic reasoning was that the people would bow down and be their slaves. That ain’t happened, mainly because these are the people of Iraq.

Not ragged assed Palestinian refugees or starving Christians and Animists in a desert in Africa. They have miscalculated their target’s response. In the words of the Prophet, they are reaping the whirlwind, and it is gaining momentum.

Man: I guess I should have been more specific for you.  If the MSM were really unbiased, and if they really supported this country, the story I linked would have gotten at least as much coverage as did the Harry Reid “The war is lost.” crap, but it hasn’t, and you know why.  Nice try, though.
Isn’t this good news, and shouldn’t it be “shouted from the rooftops”, to let the American people know how well things are going in Iraq?  Fat chance.
Both the MSM and the Dem Party have a vested interest in telling the lie that we are losing in Iraq, so this story will remain buried, except on Conservative blogs and maybe Conservative talk radio.  IMO, it should be front page news for at least a week, and should be the lead story on every TV newscast for that week, as well.

r108...perhaps the MSM would prefer to perpetuate the notion that Islam is a monolithic bloc threatening our very existence. It’s difficult to keep one’s fear focused when not every Muslim turns out to be dreaming of the demise of our way of life. By not spreading this news, the MSM is denying the spread of confusion through the minds of free people everywhere...proof positive that the MSM has only the best of intentions and is looking out for all of our best interests.

God bless the MSM.  /sarcasm

You mean “radical Islam”, don’t you, Mike?  Nice try, though.

Actually, the most recent MSM/Dem meme is that terrorism itself doesn’t really exist; it’s merely a creation of the evil ChimpyMcHitlerBurton cabal that really rules the world.  /humor

Uh oh. Al Qaeda’s support among democrats might be slipping. Let’s see what the next pole says. Licks finger, puts it to the wind…

And… uh… where are the articles about us combating al Qaeda? Isn’t that what we are over there for? What? Oh, our guys were out defending a KBR cheesecake transports, getting blown up. Goddamn al Qaeda. They know the importance of our cheesecake supply lines. The Achilles heel (tuberculosis anyone?). So, uh… are we winning yet? Haven’t been keeping track of touchdowns of late.

That is the point, spark. No one in media or Democrat Party are keeping track of wins and loses. The sole focus of attention is upon the personal fouls of our team, and to totally ignore any by their team(Muslim Terrorists).
