Ain’t this just peachy?!?!

French president supports Socialist as new IMF chief

“ Strauss-Kahn “seems the most fit for the post,” said the president in an interview with the newspaper.

Noting the former minister shares the same version of the IMF function, Sarkozy said Strauss-Kahn owns the qualities required by the post such as strong credibility, incontestable experience and multilingualism.

Strauss-Kahn has yet to express his interest in the post.”

And the talkingheads in America call Sark the “Great Moderate Hope” of Europe. As if the IMF has not enough problems already.

h/t to Xinhua. At least someone is paying attention.

Strauss-Kahn...oversaw privatisation including France Telecom IPO while Finance Minister, public debt reduced while in office, unemployment rate down and GDP up while Minister...I’ll bet there are many socialists as unhappy as you.

In both articles I read none of that was mentioned. A bit of selective reporting from LeMonde and Der Spiegel. This is, in all honesty, the first I have heard of the man, if that is his record my question is, why is he a member of the Socialist Party?

Something is decidedly out of kilter here.

It’s a topsy turvey world alright...it’s almost like socialism has been beaten by capitalism as an organising economic principle or something. Probably just a ruse though so stay on your guard. wink

the new frenchy has to be delicate
he cant be whole hog with the radical free marketism right out of the gate. also, the IMF is a bunch who rip off the poor folk… at least europe sees them in that light. wise move, if he wants support and to get reelected. he cant be seen as too pro US now can he?
