Mike, if you like this guy you’ve got a problem.  Wait? He probably is spouting the nonsense you already believe.

His comparison of the current war against Islamic terrorism and WWII is absurd.  In WWII, the enemy was isolate to 2 specific countries and there were an abundance of allies, including Canada, giving their all to fight the enemy.  Extermination of the ideologies of the Nazis and Japs was readily accomplished by their unconditional surrender.

The Islamic terrorists are not isolated to one specific country or geographic region and are defacto supported by the Islamic religion as interpreted by the imams and other Islamic clerics.  One would effectively have to destroy the essence of Islam to get a similar result to WWII since the conquest of every Islamic nation is not possible.  Another significant difference is the lack of a unified force of allied nations similar to that of WWII to counter the Islamic force. 

The ability to stop and eradicate Islam has been periodically possible over the 1400 years of its existance.  These forces have all been centered in western Europe which halted the muslim advances but were satisfied to confine it to the mid-east where the radicalism associated with the religion has festered and grown.  The last good opportunity was wasted by the former British empire who at one time controlled most of the mid-east.  If anything, the British gave Islam that was somewhat confined with the nomadic Arabs respectability as they created what they thought were puppet nation.  e.g. Saudi, Yemen, etc.

With Islamic terrorism coming from virtually every nation on the globe, this is not a war that can be won with WWII methods and you and your referenced author should know this.  Sniping at the USA from the sidelines solves nothing and if anything aids the enemy.

Of course we know this. That’s why the Stiftung expresses his concern and why I share it...maybe people at the Pentagon and the White House know it too although the leaders don’t seem to be listening to them.
