More Than a Good Feeling

Great article by Christophor Hitchens over at Slate magazine.

Why are so many oligarchs, royal families, and special-interest groups giving money to the Clinton Foundation?

As the old saying goes…...The people get the Government they deserve. Hold on to your hats. We are about to enter Mr. Toad’s wild ride.

The next question, and I must apologize in advance for once again making it an un-strenuous one, is: Who else will be approaching Bill Clinton for advice, counsel, and “input” on foreign affairs? It appears from the donor list of the Clinton Foundation that there is barely an oligarch, royal family, or special-interest group anywhere in the world that does not know how to get the former president’s attention.

Earth’s Magnetic Field Has Massive Breach - scientists baffled

I know. This sounds like a plot of a 1950’s scifi movie. But it is real. From my view, our localized corner of the solar system is now different than it used to be and changes in the magnetic interactions are evident everywhere. First we have the interplanetary magnetic field that took an abrupt dive in October 2005 and has not recovered since and remains at very low level:

This is scary. Forget the Global Warming crap. This is probably what is causing our problems and where it leads no one knows. This we should spend money on to find out what is going on…....more at http://wattsupwiththat.com/2008/12/16/earths-magnetic-field-has-massive-breach-scientists-baffled/

Emanuel: I’m Getting Death Threats Over Blagojevich Scandal

The president-elect’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, said today he wouldn’t go to the Chicago presidential transition offices in order to avoid reporters trying to ask him whether he had contact with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich about the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama’s election.

aaaawwwwwwhhhhh..poor fellow. Seems he can give it but he can’t take it. Typical style of a bully. Story at http://www.abcnews.go.com/Blotter/ConductUnbecoming/story?id=6449745&page=1

Bush and taxes. Interesting facts

The National Taxpayers Union website, I listed the url below. Has put together some interesting facts on taxes. In 2006 the top 5% paid in 60.14% of the total personal income tax collected and the bottom 50% paid 2.99%. While in 1999 the top 5% paid in only 55.45 percent of the total personal income tax collected and the bottom 50% paid in 4%. Which was more than 2006. There are also interesting numbers on how the thresholds for each income grew during those years.
What I get from this is that while Bush cut taxes, the Federal government actually collected more in taxes. A fact most of us already know but the Dem’s ignore because it does not allow them to play the class warfare card. As they did with this election, the MSM chose to ignore the facts and has allowed the American people to be fooled into believing that the Democrats are going to watch out for their welfare. LOL….....

Senate Votes To Privatize Its Failing Restaurants

Year after year, decade upon decade, the U.S. Senate’s network of restaurants has lost staggering amounts of money—more than $18 million since 1993, according to one report, and an estimated $2 million this year alone, according to another.

The financial condition of the world’s most exclusive dining hall and its affiliated Capitol Hill restaurants, cafeterias and coffee shops has become so dire that, without a $250,000 subsidy from taxpayers, the Senate won’t make payroll next month.

The embarrassment of the Senate food service struggling like some neighborhood pizza joint has quietly sparked change previously unthinkable for Democrats. Last week, in a late-night voice vote, the Senate agreed to privatize the operation of its food service, a decision that would, for the first time, put it under the control of a contractor and all but guarantee lower wages and benefits for the outfit’s new hires.

The House is expected to agree—its food service operation has been in private hands since the 1980s—and President Bush’s signature on the bill would officially end a seven-month Democratic feud and more than four decades of taxpayer bailouts.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), chairman of the Rules and Administrations Committee, which oversees the operation of the Senate, said she had no choice.

“It’s cratering,” she said of the restaurant system. “Candidly, I don’t think the taxpayers should be subsidizing something that doesn’t need to be. There are parts of government that can be run like a business and should be run like businesses.”

The Senate could not run THEIR OWN lunchroom properly. Yet they want to run the Auto Industry. What would it take to run a Senate lunchroom? Proper negotiations with the unions and a raising of prices possibly. Yet the Senate could not do that. They did not have the nerve to handle the negotiations themselves. They passed it along to an outside contracter so they did not have to make any hard decisions. And you want these guys to run a business in this Country?

In 2001 Press Attacked Bush For ‘Talking Down Economy,’ Obama Given Pass For Same in ‘08

Jonathan Alter was an early accuser of new President George W. Bush when he and VP Cheney began to try to warn the country that an economic downturn was well underway as he was taking office. As Bush tried to warn the nation, the media jumped all over him for “talking down the economy.” Yet, as we watch the reporting of Obama’s current down talking of the economy, the media has said nothing similar to the condemnation reigned upon Bush.

The myth that people like Alter was pushing in 2001 was that Clinton bequeathed a good economy to Bush, but the reality was that the spiral had already begun to fall into negative territory months before Bush took office. Despite that obvious downturn, the media formed a chorus of attacking Bush for being too negative in the face of the American people. On March 26, Alter unleashed his Newsweek piece headlined “Thanks Ever So Much, President Poor-Mouth.” Alter called Bush’s warnings “risky and unusual,” and made the pronouncement that Bush was wrong to do so. “Even if Bush turns out to be right in his predictions of gloom,” Alter wrote, “that doesn’t mean he was right to make them.”

Usual MSM BS…..and they wonder why no one pays thems much attention anymore. More info at this URL http://newsbusters.org/blogs/warner-todd-huston/2008/12/08/2001-press-attacked-bush-talking-down-economy-obama-given-pass-s They did this on the Fannie Mae/Mac fiasco also. I’m not sure who has the bigger blinders on. The MSM or the Liberals.

It has been said before, but is more true now then ever before.

While the origin of the qoute below is in dispute. It is usually attributed to Alexander Fraser Tytler but cannot be verified. It does shadow what has been going on in our Country. The people wanting to be taken care of by the Government. The banks, coporations and cities asking for help. No one saying that they should tighten their belts, stop their outragous bonuses or bring government spending in cities under control. No self-reliance by either the individuals of this Country or by the businesses and local governments. The landscape has started to tilt dangerously in one direction. Bailouts are a bad, bad, bad idea. The Senate cannot run their lunchroom to turn a profit. Yet they want to put our Country in debt and control how banks do business…....TILT….TILT…..TILT…

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

Soros-Funded Democratic Idea Factory Becomes Obama Policy Font

The man pulling Obama’s strings. I hope all you liberals enjoy having a socialist in charge of the Country.

Three blocks from the White House, on the 10th floor of a sleek glass building, young workers pound at computers, with giant flat-screen TVs overhead. It has the look and feel of a high-tech startup.

In many ways it is. The product is ideas.

Thanks in part to funding from benefactors such as billionaire George Soros, the Center for American Progress has become in just five years an intellectual wellspring for Democratic policy proposals, including many that are shaping the agenda of the new Obama administration.

‘Kill Joe the Plumber’ radio host fired

A left-leaning San Francisco radio host who doubles as a columnist for the Huffington Post has been dismissed from his broadcast job for an expletive-laden, on-air diatribe in which he called for the death of “Joe the Plumber.”

On his own website, Charles Raymond Bouley Jr., more popularly known as Karel, confirmed he was fired from his weekend KGO radio show for the rant, which happened when he thought he was off the air.

“With a two-minute phone call and one-paragraph letter I have been fired from KGO. I’m told the engineer that made the mistake has been as well,” he wrote.

The target of Bouley’s venom was Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, who became known during the presidential campaign as Joe the Plumber after his videotaped exchange with Barack Obama. Wurzelbacher’s objection to Obama’s desire to “spread the wealth,” calling it socialism, became a major theme for the McCain campaign in its final weeks.

Agenda disappears from Obama Web site

From the Washington Times at http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/nov/11/exclusive-obama-deletes-agenda-from-transition-web/

Over the weekend President-elect Barack Obama scrubbed Change.gov, his transition Web site, deleting most of what had been a massive agenda copied directly from his campaign Web site.

Gone are the promises on how an Obama administration would handle 25 different agenda items - everything from Iraq and immigration to taxes and urban policy - all items laid out on his campaign Web site, http://www.BarackObama.com.

A little traveling music maestro! Let the tap dancing begin.

From the agenda section on his change.gov web site.

President-Elect Obama and Vice President-Elect Biden have developed innovative approaches to challenge the status quo in Washington and to bring about the kind of change America needs.

The Obama Administration has a comprehensive and detailed agenda to carry out its policies. The principal priorities of the Obama Administration include: a plan to revive the economy, to fix our health care, education, and social security systems, to define a clear path to energy independence, to end the war in Iraq responsibly and finish our mission in Afghanistan, and to work with our allies to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, among many other domestic and foreign policy objectives.

Thats it…thats his whole new agenda. Not updating…...or….. making changes…..or…..thinking about something new. Just the above statement. Hold on to your seat. This is going to be like Disney’s “Mr. Toads wild ride”........

Take Heart, Conservatives!

It’s a dreary day to be a Republican. Barack Obama is president-elect, we lost a couple of Senate seats and every liberal in the land is talking about the death of conservatism.

Except, conservatism isn’t dead. It’s not even on life support. It remains the only way to be elected in the United States.

Don’t believe me? Look at the Barack Obama campaign.

For the last two months, Obama had been all tax cuts all the time. Since the moment the financial crisis hit the mainstream, Obama has been touting his tax cuts and telling us how much more we’d be paying in taxes under McCain. I haven’t heard much at all about Obama’s promised healthplan, maybe because his campaign finally started crunching the numbers and realized tax cuts and health benefits for all don’t tend to go hand in hand….....

The day after the cliffhanger 2000 election, I was on a subway to work in the morning when I overheard two people talking about whom they had voted for the day before. As this was NYC, both had voted for Al Gore and were busy congratulating themselves for their choice. “Yeah, I couldn’t vote for Bush because he was for the death penalty.” I did what I would never do today, I interjected that Gore was also for the death penalty. I was met with blank stares. Barack Obama too is for the death penalty. Have liberals rethought their opposition to state-sanctioned death? Or do they just not care as long as the guy has a (D) after his name?

What about gay marriage? I remember when this was the issue for so many liberals gay and straight. Do liberals still want equality for all? Obama opposes gay marriage. How come they don’t care?

Gay marriage was also defeated in California yesterday, despite the state having gone heavily for Obama. Where is the liberalism for which the left coast is known?

For all of his blowing smoke up the butts of the American people. He got elected by turning towards conservatism. If he now turns away from what he has committed to, the American people will turn on him like they did Jimmy Carter. Have any of these questions been answered?

I’m serious. Has any of the information listed below been given to the MSM to dispute charges that he is hiding something. If so I would like to know were I can check out the information and then i will admit that I am wrong.
Yet, the people believe that he is open and honest?. Are the majority of people voting for Obama Lemmings or just simple people that want help and in their hour of need are being taken by a scam artist?

Standard & Poors said it was lowering the Times’s credit rating to “BB-,” or junk status

The New York Times Co. reported a steep drop in third-quarter profits on Thursday, the latest gloomy earnings report in an industry battered by online competition and falling print advertising revenue.
The New York Times Co. said net profit fell by 51.4 percent in the third quarter to 6.5 million dollars, or five cents per share, from 13.4 million dollars, or nine cents per share, in the same period a year ago.

The company, which owns About.com, The Boston Globe, International Herald Tribune and 16 other daily newspapers besides the flagship The New York Times, said overall advertising revenue fell by 14.4 percent during the quarter.

I’m sure they think it’s because of the economy their ad revenues went down. Yet, their decline has been going on for the past few years. Along with most newspapers that have turned radically to the left.
