Say What You Want About Obama - The Kid Is On A Roll!

We are witnessing, in this election year, a political phenomena which few Americans have ever seen; perhaps not since the days of FDR and Huey Long. A messianic titan is striding the land and his name is Barack Obama.

Like it or not, Mr. Obama’s style and track-record are irrefutable.  He is drawing enthusiastic, adoring throngs - by the tens of thousands - to primary events held in stadiums and arenas which, in any other general election year, would go unnoticed in the local VFW Hall.

His energized followers cross all lines and defy all stereotypes. They are young, old, white, black, brown, male, female, educated, unschooled, rich and poor, christian, jew and athiest. And the most recent primary exit polls show that he is winning in all voter catagories .

Knowledgeable political pundits and experts on the right and the left are saying that they have never seen anything like it. Indeed, Hillary Clinton seems marginalized to one simple issue: when will she get out.

In Barack Obama, we may be looking at the next President of the United States. After only 24 months in the senate, he has earned “Most Liberal” status and praise from the ACLU and ADA. His speeches, awesomely delivered, call the nation to ‘change’ and ‘hope’; empty terms that mysteriously resonate in 2008.  Never mind that those vapid buzz-words have little meaning. People adore him.

On the other hand, the heir-apparent of the GOP is struggling merely to unite his forces. John McCain, recently pilloried by the New York Times in one of the sleaziest pieces of journalistic innuendo in recent memory, has far worse critics. The NYT assassination piece pales in comparison to what is being said about the republican standard-bearer in blogs across the country - not by liberals or democrats, but by republicans and conservatives!

In short, while Barack Obama is riding the crest of a tidal wave of approval - a wave which may carry him into the White House - John McCain is relentlessly hammered by conservatives who seem to take savage delight in repeating, again and again, his percieved sins and faults.

Traditionally, democrats unite behind a winner - any winner - as early as possible. Equally historic, republicans endlessly grouse about the ideology of thier candidate, sorting through and picking out flaws - with triumphant cries of Ah Ha! - that disqualify this fellow or that one on the basis of conservative values.

Case in point: The democrats expect that a winner will emerge before their convention. Conservatives still pray that ours will be hopelessly dead-locked.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama is on a roll.

After Months Of Blogging, We Have A Plan!

Ok. We are all agreed that John McCain is a gutless, leftist, lying, godless, liberal, philandering, ill-tempered, near-death darling of the MSM, who will, if elected, declare the Constitution null and void, seize all privately owned guns, grant immediate and unconditional amnesty to all current and future illegal aliens along with a $50,000 signing-bonus, name Cindy Sheehan as Secretary of Defense, appoint Bill Clinton and Al Gore to the Supreme Court, pardon Osama Bin Ladin, grant statehood to Mexico, send the Welcome Wagon to Guantanimo, require that all detainees be housed at a Holiday Inn Select, arrest Limbaugh, Beck and Hannity, ban the use of any fossil fuels, end capitalism as we know it and raise the tax rate to 75% - all in his first year in office.

To prevent this unmitigated disaster from happening, we are agreed that we will all stay home on election day or make every effort to vote at least twice for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. Thus, anything that goes wrong cannot be blamed on us and will not besmirch the name of conservatism.

In the next two years, we will all give up our day jobs or come out of retirement, pledge to work 12 to 20 hours a day to rebuild the republican party in our image, impoverish ourselves by donating every penny we have to the cause and sweep the liberal bastards out of congress in 2010.

If that fails, we will resort to armed revolution, drag the traitors out of their beds and line them up against a wall.

Oh!  And one other thing, we need to remind the RNC to cancel the convention this summer since John McCain will never get our votes and the money saved could be put aside for a rainy day.

Sounds like a plan. Works for me!

The NYT: liberals and Conservatives Agree On One thing

Today’s New York Times smear of John McCain - probably the first of many - reveals an interesting point of agreement between the liberal wing of the democratic party and the conservative wing of the republicans: they both don’t like McCain.

The Time’s piece - reminiscent of Dan Rather’s attempt to smear George Bush with the flimsiest of evidence - is intended to energize liberals and further alarm conservatives.

On the Britannica web site, James E. Campbell, talks about this ironic nexus of agreement between liberals and conservatives. The ACLU, he says, warns that McCain has a 82.3 lifetime record of voting as a conservative. The ADA slams McCain for only supporting liberal causes 15% of the time, saying that he is more right wing than 62% of all other senators. [Oh, the horror of it all!]

http://blogs.britannica.com/blog/main/2008/02/john-mccain-is-a-conservative-deal-with-it/

Conservatives, on the other hand, are disturbed that he is not 90% - 100% conservative.

It will be interesting to see whether liberals and conservatives - and to what degree - both use the NYT character assassination of John McCain for the same purpose… to defeat him.

You Couldn’t Make This Stuff Up: Hide Your Dog!

Fox News is reporting that a 70 year old man has been arrested for - horrors! - walking his dog on the streets of Tehran. He faces time in jail and 30 lashes because Islamic law regards dogs as ‘impure’. Iranians who own the filthy animals must keep them indoors.

On an interesting side-note, Iranian president Ahmadinejad just purchased 4 guard dogs in Germany at a cost of over $100,000.

Impurity is as impurity does....

The List Of Whackos Reporting On Obama’s GPA Keeps Growing and Growing

If you do an AOL or Google search today using Obama Global Poverty Act, , the list of ill-informed, right-wing whackos bent on distorting the Obama record and the actual intent of the Obama/Hagel Global Povery Act keeps growing and growing and growing.

Among the hundreds of web sites that will pop up, I recommend the idiots at the Baltimore Sun or that well known deceiver, Cliff Kinkaid at the National Ledger.

Google Bans UN Critic

At 8 P.M., EST, 18 February 2008, Fox News is reporting that INNER CITY NEWS, a frequent critic of United Nations corruption, has been banned from the Google search menu because of ‘complaints’ by users. One wonders who they might be?

Obama’s 845 Billion Global Poverty Act: There’s More and Its Worse!

This from World Net Daily: “OBama Bill: $845 Billion More For Global Poverty” 14 february,2008

From Barack Obama’s Senate office comes this statement: “As we strive to rebuild America’s standing in the world this important bill [Global Poverty Act] will demonstrate our promise and commitment to those in the developing world.”

The bill, called the Global Poverty Act, is the type of legislation, "We can - and must - make a priority", said Obama, a co-sponsor.

“Jeffrey Sachs, administrator of the Millenium Project, confirms a UN plan to force the U.S. to pay 0.7% of GNP...”

...And the only way to raise that funding, Sachs confirms, "is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels." [ala the Bali Global Warming proposal.]

Reading the whole WorldNetDaily piece is an eye-opener, to say the least. The UN proposal also commits contributing nations to such programs as "Bio-diversity" and other globalization schemes. Interestingly, Obama's GPA is devoid of actual dollars and percents; only tying the bill to the labrynth of mandates set forth in the UN Millenium Project. In other words, we surrender our independence to the UN on a host of issues.

The Obama agenda - if he is elected President - is right out of the Saul Alinsky play-book. The only other relevant issue is why the main-stream media is so silent on this.

A Conservative Nightmare!

Unnoticed by most Americans this week, the Obama/Hagel GLOBAL POVERTY ACT was quickly approved by a senate committee and cleared for the next step, debate in a democrat-controlled senate.

The GLOBAL POVERTY ACT is unique in its breathtaking scope. It is not foreign-aid. The Act will require the President and Congress to set aside .7% of the annual gross national product - our GNP - to be distributed around the globe to relieve poverty at a cost of about $800 billion dollars annually to taxpayers. It is Barack Obama’s response to the call of the Bali Global Warming Conference for a global carbon tax; a blatant redistribution of the planet’s wealth to the “powerless”.

http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/5991/

Coupled with his riveting stump speeches which generate huge emotional reactions from his equally huge audiences - speeches which literally call for a redistribution of wealth right here at home as well - Barack Obama’s sponsorship of the GLOBAL POVERTY ACT gives us a chilling preview of an Obama presidency.

There’s more. Obama will be the Commander In Chief. He has said - again to thunderous approval - that the war in Iraq should never have been approved and he voted against it. He has said that he will talk to our enemies; Iran, North Korea, Hezbollah and Al Qaida.

Obama will be in position to name as many as three justices to the Supreme Court along with hundreds of lower federal-bench appointments. He will put like-minded socialists in charge of our sprawling federal bureauocracy - those who actually regulate and control our liberties - all glowingly approved by a liberal democrat senate.

He has said that illegal immigrants must be seen for what they are; desperate, hard-working people who deserve a better life and American citizenship immunized from their transgressions. He has already indicated his approval of drivers licenses, sanctuary and voting rights for them now .

Barack Obama has sounded the call for universal health care for all Americans, stricter gun control, college tax-credits for the middle class, imposition of vigorous global warming regulations on America’s industries and an end to the Bush tax cuts. He has proposed higher, much higher, taxes on corporations and the rich, to pay for a these and a host of other liberal programs.

To his credit and our consternation, Senator Obama is a gifted orator whose ability to stir the emotions and class-envy of his mesmerized followers is nearly messianic.

Schooled in the socialist-revolutionary philosophy of Saul Alinsky, armed with massive voter adulation and enabled by a probable expansion of democrat majorities in both houses of congress, President Barack Obama will swiftly set about to transform the nation into a socialist republic.

Col. Oliver North Endorses John McCain

Col. Oliver North, Ret., makes a compelling case for conservatives to support Senator John McCain.

“Neither John McCain nor anyone in his campaign asked me to write this column. But I cannot sit by while my fellow conservatives do to John McCain what GOP moderates did to me. The stakes are too high.”

http://realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/02/time_to_unite_behind_mccain.html

“I hope my fellow conservatives will decide as I have: we need John McCain as Commander In Chief.”

California Sues Homeowner For Blocking Solar Power

Today, a California magistrate ordered a Sunnyvale, CA homeowner to cut down two 40-ft Red Cedars on his propery because they block his neighbor’s roof-top solar panels and thus violate the state’s 1979 “Solar Power Protection Act”.

The law applies even if the trees were there first!

And, Of course, since this is California, the poor homeowner can’t even burn the wood in his fireplace.

News From The People’s Republic Of New Jersey

Yesteday, at a town meeting in New Jersey, during which Gov. Corzine was discussing plans to raise tolls on New Jersey highways, an angry comrade ["citizen", outside of NJ] came to the microphone and shouted, “Why don’t you make rich people pay for this? They can afford it!” The large audience roared its approval.

Conservatives In Danger - Post-Gazette

In a recent edition of the Pittburgh Post-Gazette, conservative pundit Jack Kelly warns Conservatives that they are the real RINO’s and are in danger of being marginalized in the upcoming election. Interesting, provocative and controversial read.

Obama “Compliments” McCain

On Saturday, in Richmond, Virginia, Senator Barack Obama paid John McCain an interesting ‘compliment’.

“We honor Senator McCain for his half century of service in the senate.”

Clever, very clever… Sort of like complimenting Hillary Clinton for loyally standing by her philandering husband.

OK, Rush, Glen, Sean, Listen up!

As talk-show hosts, entertainers after ratings, devout defenders of consersative principle or loud-mouthed threats to a republican victory in November - depending on one’s point of view - you have had your say on John McCain. Some would argue that you have bloviated about little else in the last month.

I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt: that you were taking the high road and genuinely believed that John McCain would would do irreparable harm to conservatism and the nation were he picked as the GOP standard bearer. Fair enough.

Well, thats all changed now. It will be Senator John McCain vs. Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in the race to the White House; a race that will determine who, as Commander In Chief and President, wages war on extremist jihad; moves the Supreme Court and the federal bench further to the left or the right; puts the brakes on a liberal congress’s insatiable appetite for money and power; speaks for the Republic’s most cherished values.

You, gentlemen, for the sake of the nation, and not for the sake of ratings, your egos or in defense of your anti-McCain litanies, must now decide what the content of your future airtime will be. Choose wisely.

Please don’t opine in one breath that whatever happens is not your fault, and then turn around and boast that multi-millions of Americans look to you for guidance. You can’t have it both ways.

Please don’t argue that there is no difference between John McCain and the liberals. There clearly is. Fred thompson, in his endorsement of McCain on Friday, said it best, "Its about our country."

Please don’t boast that conservatives don’t want him or trust him. Many, many of us do. Not all, but many. Mitt Romney, in his withdrawal speech, said it was about winning the war.

And yes, admit that, at every opportunity, it is a legitimate conservative principle to prevent liberalism from expanding its power, and a vote for John McCain will do just that!

You may have doubts about what Senator McCain will accomplish, but you can have no doubt whatever about what his opponents will do if either of them becomes President!

The time has come to turn your guns on the real targets, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. That is where we - and the nation - need you now!

An Open Letter To John McCain

Dear Senator McCain,

It seems apparent that - barring something unexpected - you are now the candidate of the Republican Party and the standard bearer of many of its members. Congratulations.

I say many because, as you well know, many conservatives across our nation who often vote republican have deep reservations about you; some are actually suspicious of you and a few utterly reject you.

It is not my place to lecture you on how you lost the trust of so many of them. Few know the answer to that better than you do. But, as a recent ‘newbie’ on SAYANYTHINGBLOG, I have come to know the thoughts, principles and values of a great many of that blog’s conservative contributors.

And while I do not necessarily agree with many of the views posted on SAB, I almost never doubt the sincerity or principles of those who contribute. I hope you do not either.

As an ordinary citizen who loves Our Creator, liberty, the republic and the party - in that order - I want to offer the following suggestions to you in the hope that you can become the choice of all of us on the right. Please bear with me.

1. Except where you genuinely believe that we misunderstand your motives or intent, don’t waste time explaining or defending past actions in the Senate. We can clearly see them for ourselves.

2. Don’t simply adopt the mantle of conservative. Tell us exactly what it is you will do as president to demonstrate your commitment to conservative principles. We are wise enough to know the difference.

3. We understand that you must appeal to a base broader than that which conservatives occupy and that you must have independents, and, as you called them at Cpac, - “enlightened democrats” - in order to win this race. But we also know that you need us; not just our votes; you need us in the long run.

4. Again and again, make clear to us what the stakes are in this election. Tear the cover off the democrats and reveal the seething mess which they will create if one of them gains the White House. And then tell us in specific terms what you will do, to the best of your ability, to return our nation to its constitutional principles if you are elected.

5. Consider carefully your choice of running-mate. We will be watching. We are also politically saavy enough to know that your choice must appeal to enough voters across the nation to win; otherwise all is lost. But do not sell us out.

6. Stick to basics. Win the war on terror, expand the strict constructionist membership of the Supreme Court, extend the hand of friendship to other nations along with the steady gaze of determination, clean up the immigration mess and protect our language and culture, keep congress and taxes under control and restore pride in the foundations of our Republic, many of which our people and our children have forgotten or never knew.

7 The American people, and conservatives in particular, believe in themselves and do not want or approve of elaborate and intrusive government ‘programs’ to solve our problems. Americans, given the freedom to do so, are the greatest problems solvers in the history of the world. Your role as president should be that of restorer, less than innovator. We have become alarmed and suspicious of Washington innovation.

8.  You made an excellent first start at the Cpac convention. Most of us, whether we trust you or not, liked what you said. Now you must make good on that inspiring speech. Conservatives are tolerant, but we know slight-of-hand when we see it.

Senator McCain, the folks that I interact with on SAB are, for the most part, reasonable people. They are Americans who have not forgotten how it should be. We hope you have not either. I truly believe that most conservatives do not wish you ill. Many of us admire you in spite of deep philosophical differences. You must gain our confidence and when you become President - as I truly believe you will - do not betray us. Neither we or history will forgive or forget if you do. We will not be marginalized or ignored, and we can speak with a very loud voice when necessary, as we did with the Dubai ports deal.

Senator McCain, the burdens which you assume in this race and in eventual victory are awesome. Few of us would have the nerve or the guts to undertake it. If you prove yourself worthy, we will not abandon you. God speed.
