Children As Criminals

Recently there was a story in the news where children aged 8-10 (2 girls and 1 boy) were accused of plotting to harm their 3rd grade teacher because she yelled at one of them for standing on a chair. This happened in Waycross, Ga. The children brought duct tape, handcuffs and a kitchen knife to school to carry out the attack. Other students were to act as lookouts. School officails discovered the plot and called the police. Personally, I think this was the wrong approach. This is a situation which should have been handled by the school administration, the parents and possibly social services. This may have come as a shock to all the adults involved. Many parents are totally unaware of what is going on with there children, and their peers, until something like this happens. The students should have been reprimanded and suspended for a period of time. The parents should take care of disciplining their kids. I hope that they have a two parent household. If the situation warrants it, counselling is an option. We should not be turning all our problems with our kids over to the police. It is time for parents to act like parents and put an end to this atrocious behavior among our people.

Conspiracy Theory

Has anyone noticed that whenever we hear news of the “surge” working in Iraq and Iraqi forces are
more efficient, there is a sudden peak in violence by the Shiite militias and others? I have a theory that this (peak in violence) is orchestrated by the CIA in an effort to boost George’s claim that we need to keep troops in Iraq. Like I said “I love my country. But, history and my own experience has taught me that I cannot trust my government.” And yes,  soldiers are expendable. Remember, they are just the instruments in carrying out our foreign policy. Nothing more. Maybe less.

Parents Should Be Required to Get a License Before Having Kids

This may be farfetched. But, I really think that maybe the time has come that parents be licensed before having kids. Everyday we see evidence of abject stupidity on the part of parents in the care of their children. It is as if they have no clue. I personally feel that children have become part of a “having it all syndrome”. You know: the big house, two cars, high paying jobs, fitness club memberships, a cruise at least once a year. Somewhere in this mix, the child has a place. And with the child, the aspiring couple has it all. The child is just another part of the status symbol of the American family. Couples these days don’t raise their kids, day care does. The parents are so busy keeping up with the Joneses that less and less time is spent nurturing baby. Parents leave baby in hot cars. Baby falls down stairs because mom forgot to put the child safety gate up. There are numerous cases of parents just not paying attention to their children. If you want to have it all, please don’t have a child until you reach your goal. The child you save may be your own.

Sorority Party Leads to Complaint at UND

In the March 22, 2008 edition of the Grand Forks Herald there is a story about a party held by Gamma Phi Beta sorority in November 2007 where partygoers dressed up in headdresses and loincloths and warpaint. The Native Americans got upset about it and filed a complaint saying the costumes were an insult to their culture and an example of racial insensitivity. Well, yeah! Can’t we lighten up a bit here?! The party was held off campus. Can’t we have a bit of fun anymore without being accused of racism and “insensitivity”? The Native Americans complain that others cannot learn about their culture when they use stereotypes. What is so different about their culture? I personally see no difference. There was a report of a party held at Clemson University in South Carolina in 2007 where white partygoers wore blackface, fake gold teeth and padded their behinds to make them look bigger. This caused the administration to make changes to their diversity programs. I say get over it. If you do things to make you look stupid, you shouldn’t be surprised to be laughed at. Grills, baggy sagging pants, tats and enough chains to hang yourself with don’t cut it with me. This political correctness is driving the country apart. And lets all hear it for sensitivity training, huh!? Life happens. Get a life, will ya!

SEMPER FI?

I am very angry. Recently I saw a story of a family that has all three (3) sons serving in Iraq. These are all the children the parents have. These brave, unselfish young men really believe in their hearts that they are doing the right thing in service to this country. The parents have to deal with the fact that one, if not all, may not come back alive.Later, I saw a story about vets returning from the war with serious, debilitating injuries having to fight an incredible beauracracy for compensation and medical care. Why? The VA is seriously underfunded. Yet we can spend hundreds of billions of dollars on a space shuttle that may, or may not, benefit us in the future. We can come up with the money to fund this ridiculous war. We can spend $700 billion on a fence to keep illegal immigrants out. The list goes on and on. Why isn't the VA given more funding immediately to care for our vets? Especially as far as compensation is concerned. Some of these injuries are devasting families physically, emotionally and financially. Yet Congress lacks the will to institute fast-track compensation and assistance to the vets and their families.
Shame on you, George. And your administration. For eight years of screwing up America, George gets a healthy presidential pension. For those who answered his call to duty, they have to run the gauntlet to get their just deserts. And many will have to live with their injuries for the rest of their lives. I am a veteran. I say to those who can do something about this, but will not, the only way a member of my family will go to war for you is over my dead body.

The New Black Panther Party

Whites set out to systematically kill as many blacks as they could during apartheid and afterward. Calling for the eradication of these murderers is justified.

Withdrawal From Iraq Does Not Mean Defeat

Withdrawal from Iraq does not mean defeat. It is a common sense solution to a problem that has plagued this country for over 5 years. It is the will of the people. Let’s get out and let the Iraquis take the fate of their country into their own hands.

DC Anti-Gun Law Is Insane

The weapon of choice in defending yourself and your home is the handgun. Washington, DC’s anti-gun law denies law abiding citizens legal access to these firearms. Meanwhile crime continues to rise. I have no doubt that the Supreme Court will rule in favor of the law abiding citizens. However, just to make sure a call to your congressman wouldn’t hurt.

Woman, Arm Thyself

I don’t know about you, but I am sick to death of all the senseless killings of our young women by the sickos out there. I think that it is time women started arming themselves for their own safety. Every woman, especially young adult women, should be allowed to purchase a handgun. Then she should learn how to use it. Then she should get a concealed carry permit. Every woman should also enroll in a self defense course. Woman, stop being nice and shy. It could cost you your life. Follow your gut feeling. Stay alert, stay alive.

FEAR: THE BEST PARENT

We need to put fear back into our children. I mean the kind of fear that makes disobeying your parents the last thing your kids want to do. We do not have that dynamic working today. We are no longer parents. We are friends and enablers. Kids do not fear you because you fear what they can do to you. We are at the mercy of Social Services. I say let’s make a change in our hearts to remedy this today! When your kid talks back to you, don’t ground him. Smack the heck out of him. I get tired of seeing TV shows where

MORTGAGE CRISIS

Why isn’t the government going after the crooks in the mortgage and banking industries who are responsible for the near-collapse of our economy with the same zeal that they went after Bonds and Clemens for taking steroids? I am sure that several federal laws were broken. Remember that the bailout of Beaar Stearns was done with your tax dollars (read that Social Security). Then the big wigs overseeing this charade get to walk away with their money and mansions. Not fair.

ND DRIVERS EDUCATION

I think that drivers education in ND High Schools is a total waste of time. They do not follow any of the rules of the road they are taught. At 15 they should be given a cell phone and a car. That apparently is all they care about anyway. Wearing seat belts and rules of the road are foreign to them.

JOHN MCCAIN IS WRONG FOR AMERICA

John McCain is the wrong man to lead our nation. He wants to continue the aggression in Iraq so that Al Quaeda cannot say that they defeated us. Are bragging rights justification for the loss of life by our soldiers and innocent civilians? I thought we had learned our lesson in Viet Nam. As far as fighting terrorism is concerned, as long as we are a paranoid nation the government can do whatever they want to chip away at our freedoms. We need a change from the right wing hysteria. Vote Democrat.
