Headed Towards Defeat In Afghanistan

The Obama administration is headed down the irrevocable path to defeat in Afghanistan, and appears to be waving the white flag in the global ‘war on terror.’

It has now been more than seven long weeks since the top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley A. McChrystal, reported on the desperate need for more troops in Afghanistan, warning that defeating the insurgents will not be possible if the United States fails to “gain the initiative and reverse insurgent momentum” over the next 12 months.

McChrystal’s confidential report was leaked to the Washington Post on September 21, 2009. It was met with silence from the White House. Well, not quite… On October 4, nearly two dozen House liberals introduced a bill that would prohibit an increase of troops in Afghanistan. And the Senate rejected an attempt to have the top commander in Afghanistan testify about the increasingly volatile situation.

As our public servants worked feverishly behind the scenes to deny support to our fighting men in Afghanistan, hundreds of terrorists armed with automatic rifles and rocket-propelled grenades stormed a pair of remote outposts near the Pakistan border, killing eight U.S. soldiers and capturing more than 20 Afghan security troops in the deadliest assault against U.S. forces in more than a year.

Following this attack, U.S. Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates stated that the Taliban now have the momentum in Afghanistan “because of the inability of the United States and its allies to put enough troops into the country.”

Our President was otherwise occupied accepting the Nobel Peace Prize. The mainstream media was so excited that they kinda forgot to report Gate’s dire warning. 24/7 media coverage of the latest Messiah of Peace was followed by news of the exciting Michelle Obama ‘action figure.’ And the President’s exciting ‘date night’ with Michelle.

Continuing to ignore the worsening situation in Afghanistan, President Obama and the First Lady instead rolled out the red carpet while a group handed out white coats to a select group of doctors, in a staged photo-op designed to further Obama’s proposed health care reform. In his televised speech, Obama expressed deep concern for the health of any Americans that aren’t covered by government health care, and trotted out several heartbreaking stories to prove it. These stories were later proven false.

Meanwhile, our State Department addressed the terrorist problem. They just renamed terrorists “refugees.”

Obama remained extremely busy in October, making a trip to Copenhagen to lobby for the Olympics to be held in his hometown of Chicago, and appearing on the Letterman Show. But he did take the time to stage a nice little photo-op with a midnight trip to Dover Airfield, along with photographers, to show the nation his concern for our returning war dead. (Concern that was sorely lacking for the victims of the recent Fort Hood massacre)

At the end of this busy month, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs informed the nation that Obama has spent “close to 20 direct hours” in meetings on Afghanistan since Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s request for tens of thousands of reinforcements was submitted over two months ago.

Gibbs went on to say that Obama also spends “quite a bit of time” thinking about the war in Afghanistan, after it was revealed that Obama had spent more time with Oprah than with General McChrystal.

Our NATO allies saw that Obama was busy waging war on Fox News and the Chamber of Commerce instead of sending reinforcements to our brave warriors who are fighting and dying in Afghanistan, and started following his cue.

On November 6, Canada’s top general issued instructions for his officers to start making their plans to pull out of Afghanistan.

The UK is also drawing up plans to withdraw British troops from outlying bases in Afghanistan. And the United Nations has relocated 600 of their Afghan staff out of harms way.

The media remains silent on this shocking abrogation of leadership, reporting only that Obama is considering his options and weighing them, as a good President should. The New York Times now reports Obama’s decision may not come until December. Meanwhile, the Taliban grow increasingly powerful and our young men in Afghanistan are left wondering if their sacrifice, and their comrades lives, have been in vain.

Americans are assumed to have forgotten that Barack Obama campaigned on a promise to reinforce U.S. troops in Afghanistan, which he described as a war we “have to win.” I guess he’s changed his mind.

To my nephew Christopher, and all our brave young men in Afghanistan, I’d like to say on behalf of most Americans, that I’m so very sorry your lives are being used as political fodder. And unlike Obama, most Americans support you and will keep raising their voices in outrage at the shameless lack of support and leadership being shown by your Commander in Chief.

The Seduction of Lindsey Graham

According to most conservatives in South Carolina, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has officially gone over to the dark side. Under the guise of ‘bipartisanship,’ Graham has signed on to one of the left’s most ambitious plans to impose a socialist agenda in America - government control of the formerly free market through implementation of cap-and trade, the 1,400 plus page Waxman-Markey bill approved earlier this year by the House.

The main (scientifically unproven) premise of cap and trade is that the earth is melting and government must step in to save the world. Of course, it will be expensive, but hey, this is Mother Earth we’re talking about. And its urgent and essential that the government immediately establish a $700 billion “market” for business to buy and sell “steadily declining number of permits for creating carbon emissions.”

In a New York Times Op-Ed Graham co-authored with Sen. John Kerry cutely entitled ‘Yes We Can’ (get it?) Sen Graham states “..we agree that climate change is real and threatens our economy and national security.” Huh?

Conservatives disagree. Conservatives, real conservatives, believe the fact based studies based on science that stand in direct opposition to the dire reports issued by bureaucrats at the United Nations and embraced as fact by the left.

Conservative think tank, Heritage Foundation, outlines the additional costs that will be imposed on every American family if cap and trade is enacted. Residential electricity costs will zoom up by 90%, nearly 1.9 million jobs will be lost by 2012 overall, and the economy will lose nearly $10 trillion in gross domestic product by 2035. Just what the economy needs, right?

Lindsey Graham was elected to serve as United States Senator in 2002. He was easily re-elected in 2008, largely due to the support of conservatives. Conservatives like founder and past president of the low country’s South Strand Republicans, John Bonsignor. John and his wife campaigned hard for Graham, based on their belief that Graham would govern as a conservative. Meaning, lower taxes and less government.

“Graham is disappointing,” states Bonsignor, “He campaigned as a conservative but his record is moderate left.” When asked if he would vote for Graham now, Bonsignor stated emphatically, “No,” citing Lindsey’s support for Sotomayor, his support for TARP funds, and the final straw, his support for cap and trade.

Sen. Graham’s own website states, “Graham is known as a leader who never abandons his independence or strays from the conservative reform agenda.” This is no longer true.

Graham has been seduced by the left. He has adopted one of their most successful tactics, promising one thing while delivering quite the opposite. Though its impossible to know what is in another man’s heart, actions always speak louder than words. And Graham’s actions clearly show that he has signed on to the leftist agenda. Possibly hoping to earn the coveted ‘maverick’ label and media kudos formerly enjoyed by his good buddy John McCain. But he is doing his own party no good.

Graham has come to exemplify the growing disconnect between conservatives and the Republican party. He believes he knows best, and if the people that elected him disagree, he tells them to just “chill out,” as he did at a recent townhall meeting in Greenville. The same townhall meeting where one of his constituents called him a traitor.

That townhall received little media attention. What did receive national media coverage was Graham’s recent interview where he attacked Glenn Beck, the left’s favorite target. “Glenn Beck does not represent the thinking of the Republican Party,” Graham stated. How he knows this is a mystery, as he went on to say he never watches the Glenn Beck Show. Go figure.

Graham may be right about one thing: Glenn Beck clearly represents the thinking of conservatives, not the GOP. And Sen. Lindsey Graham is now willingly spouting the talking points of the left and abandoning the conservative principles that got him elected. He has been seduced by the left and his reward is ever more national face time and political influence.

Enjoy the ride, Lindsey. More and more South Carolinians, this author included, are comparing you with our real conservative Senator, Jim DeMint, and you’re coming up way short. Keep in mind that we have long memories while the fawning media currently singing your praises have short ones. Your love affair with the left, whether it be seduction or statutory rape, betrays the conservative principles that you claimed to hold. And we don’t like it one bit.

Dirty Old Men

Only in America can the lecherous leanings and extra-marital shenanigans of a dirty old man result in ratings gold and a national conversation.

The David Letterman Show scored its highest ratings yet as he aired his sexual proclivities in public under the guise of apologizing to his wife for betraying her with a variety of casual sexual partners. Partners, who, by the way, could have lost their jobs on Letterman’s whim if they somehow displeased him. Or if Letterman ran out of Viagra.

Under the new rules implemented by self anointed elites, if a person is a celebrity, the normal rules of decent conduct are suspended. Unless, of course, the celebrity is a conservative. If only Senator “wide stance” Livingston were a Democrat, he’d have a restroom named in his honor. And probably his own personal peephole to boot.

Instead, as a member of the left, Letterman is accorded membership in the most valued and largest growing group in America. He is now an official ‘victim.’ And shame on those little tarts who used him in order to advance their own careers or merely to scratch a transient sexual itch.

Letterman’s only sin appears to be his timing. He should have waited another week or so before stealing the headlines from pedophile rapist Roman Polanski. Whoppi Goldberg was right in the middle of convincing America that rape isn’t rape and Hollywood had already garnered over 100 celebrity signatures calling for his release before Letterman rudely shifted the national conversation to his own sexual peccadilloes. Poor Roman.

The groundswell of elite support in favor of excusing Polanski for drugging and raping a 13 year-old girl 30 years ago could very well have resulted in freeing Polanski. Now, the fickleness and short attention spans of elite leftists may mean that Polanski may actually have to face the consequences of his past actions, instead of just getting his own star on Warsaw’s ‘walk of fame.’ Life just isn’t fair.

Former Boy President Bill Clinton can attest to that. After all, even though he was re-elected President after he made his historic seminal deposit on intern Monica Lewinsky’s blue dress, he knows in his heart that the all the fuss was merely the result of a vast right wing conspiracy. The same right wing conspiracy that is now demanding that Roman Polanski be held accountable for the crime of which he was convicted. What meanies!

The vast right wing conspiracy just doesn’t get it. Sex, anywhere, anytime, and with anyone, is now defined as ‘empowerment.’ Parading naked through the streets of San Francisco as cops stand idly by is considered a right. A right exclusive to gay men, but a right, nonetheless.

Pesky conservatives are only showing their ignorance when they object to the public swapping of spit between two men, or the sexual harassment of sweet young things by powerful men. And dirty old men have the right to express themselves sexually and publicly, without censure. As long as they continue to parrot the leftist agenda, that is.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama’s advisors are currently suggesting that he engage in sex with a subordinate. After all, that would immediately shift the nation’s attention to the left’s favorite topic instead of focusing on why Obama is ignoring our young fighting men in Afghanistan. But maybe, just maybe, Obama is more scared of Michelle than he is of the vast right wing conspiracy and the Taliban. Ya think?

Color Me Racist

Its now official. I’m a racist. No less than a former president of the United States has declared that if I oppose the takeover of 17% of our economy under the guise of health care reform, I hate black people.

According to President Carter, U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson’s objection to a ‘misstatement’ in President Obama’s speech to Congress last week was an act “based on racism” and rooted in fears of a black president. And a Rasmussen survey shows that fully 12% of Americans agree with him.

The old media has chimed in, with the left’s favorite columnist, Maureen Dowd, going a step further. Rep. Joe Wilson said, “You lie’ to Obama. But Maureen Dowd heard, “You lie, boy.” Boy being one of the many politically incorrect words the left has decided is an indicator of racism. Point made. Case closed.

Another columnist, E. Danielle Egan, has joined the growing chorus. In the Philadelphia Enquirer, Egan blithely dismissed the app. 2 million protestors who turned out last weekend to protest Obama’s policies, writing them off as illegitimate.  “So I have decided it’s time that what I’ve been watching be called what I believe it is: racism.” She continues, “The level of rage being expressed is different and out of sync with what we know from the past.” I guess she was visiting Atlantis during the Bush years, or something.

And just in case anyone has missed the point, ABC has devoted a full story to the racist motives of the Obama protestors.

So there. The media and political elite have spoken. Any opposition to Obama means the protestor is a bad person. A person unable to see beyond the color of his skin. A racist. (Isn’t that called profiling?)

Conveniently for these elites, they have also decided that responding to ignorant racists is quite beneath them. Being a racist is bad, therefore there is absolutely no need to respond to the underlying complaint. Whew.

This is the ultimate free pass. It almost makes me wish I had been born black. Then I could make any claims I want, without any facts to back them up, and still maintain the moral high ground.  I could blame every bad decision I ever made on racism and, best of all, put my opponents in the impossible situation of trying to prove a negative.

I would gain membership in the ever growing class of ‘victims’, which automatically grants me immunity from the normal rules of civilized behavior.

The fact that Joe Wilson was quite correct in branding Obama a liar is not the point. By diverting the issue to racial animus, Obama’s ‘misstatement’ is conveniently overlooked. This is called a win-win situation.

Wilson’s audacity in branding Obama a liar has caused a national firestorm. The left is in high dudgeon, quickly spinning the truth of Wilson’s (admittedly disrespectful) assertion into a condemnation of his integrity, topping it off with the unprecedented act of issuing a formal rebuke from the House. Bad boy! (Can I say that?)

Not mentioned in this national brou haha is Sen Reid’s Dec 15, 2004 statement, where he called called President Bush a liar.  “President Bush is a liar. He betrayed Nevada and he betrayed the country.”

I guess its OK to call white guys liars. Even when they can’t come up with any specific lie. Its just something everyone knows. Bush lied. Strangely enough, I’ve never been taken up on my challenge to pay $100.00 to anyone who can cite a specific lie that Bush told. I digress.

Also not included in the conversation the left is successfully controlling, is President Obama’s statement last week branding Kanye West a jackass. But, hey, West is black…this is starting to get confusing.

I’m in awe of the left. Though they have admitted not knowing the details of the 1,000 plus pages of the Obama health care ‘reform’, they have managed to divine what is in my heart. And the hearts of millions of others. And it’s called racism.

Despite having elected a black president, the left would have us believe that the millions of whites who voted for Obama still hate black people. They would have us believe that, even though we can’t see it, racism is still a dominant force in America. Its just evolved into the silent ‘institutional’ kind of racism that no one can quantify. But its still there. I guess we just have to take their word for it. If we dare question their premise, we’re racists. Game, set and match.

Elite Meltdown

The face-off between the ruling elite and ‘we the people’ continues to unfold, as Democrat politicians hold townhall meetings across the country to build support for the Obama administration’s latest power grab, misleadingly labeled ‘health care reform.’
The faux outrage politicians manufacture on demand has been replaced by real outrage. Outrage at the American people for failing to understand the nuances, the broad outline of a 1,000 page plus bill that most politicians haven’t even read. Hey, that’s what staff is for, explained new Democrat, Arlen Spector.
Peons from fly-over country are daring to challenge the carefully scripted and (deliberately?) misleading talking points. Talking points which, by the way, have been endorsed by the media. Don’t these guys read the New York Times?
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are using the standard liberal tactic of diverting attention from the issue by demonizing the dissenter, in this case, the American people. According to Pelosi and Reid, voicing objections to the federal government’s take over of 17% of the formerly free market economy is ‘un-American.’ Harry Reid has gone a step further, tarring dissenters as ‘evil mongers.’

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs has blithely dismissed the burgeoning dissent by informing one and all that these ‘townhalls are not representative of America.’ Obama, meanwhile, is trying to divert the issue by blaming the ‘headline hungry television networks’, accusing them of ‘inflaming an ugly backlash.’

Unused to any opposition that can’t be spun to their advantage, or ignored, Democrats are desperately trying to convince Americans that the tidal wave of opposition is not genuine. Used to viewing every issue in political terms, our elected officials are actually convinced that the disruptive townhalls are merely the product of an evil conservative cabal. After all, every person these lawmakers know agree with them on this issue. Its called the ‘inside the beltway syndrome.’
Despite a new $12 million ad campaign designed to soothe Americans into relying on misplaced compassion instead of common sense, pesky Joe Six-Pack and Susy Homemaker still don’t get it. And adding insult to injury, American citizens are starting to question where all the money is coming from to run these ads. And by the way, who’s signing the paychecks for the new army of health care advocates who are being paid $12 to $13 an hour for their support? Inquiring minds want to know.
Answers to these questions are not forthcoming. Like the classic case of a wife catching her husband in bed with another woman, the question has become, “Who are you going to believe? Me, or the evidence of your own eyes?”
Obama, in his latest finger-pointing lecture to the great unwashed, assured the masses that the proposed ‘public option’  won’t put private insurers out of business. When confronted with his own words to the contrary in 2007,  he dismissed the discrepancy as a ‘mis-statement’. Oops. Time to move on. Time to focus on the real villains.
Identifying a common enemy is another tried and true tactic liberals employ when it gets too hot in the kitchen. But the historically favorite villain, those dastardly drug companies, have already made their deal with the government health plan. And blaming the insurance companies won’t work either, since they’re on board, too. The only villain left is the American people.
Not all Americans, Obama and the media assure us. No, the real villain can be traced to the ‘hate groups’ that have suddenly, and conveniently emerged. As reported by ABC: “Experts say a sharp growth in so-called militia groups that helped spawn a wave of domestic terrorism in the 1990s –  are now using YouTube, rock music and the Internet to recruit members and spread hate and fear - and shouldn’t be ignored.”
These hate groups, we are assured by the ultra liberal Southern Poverty Law Center, are protesting President Obama, not his health care plan. Not only that, they are putting his life in danger. Headlines inform us: ‘Fear For Obama’s Safety Grows As Hate Groups Thrive On Racial Backlash.’
This is a media twofer. Obama is the now the victim instead of the oppressor. And dissenters are racist rednecks.

The only problem is, Americans aren’t buying it. They’re suffering from the political equivalent of the ‘battered woman syndrome.’ Americans have been deceived and beaten up by the government so many times lately, that, even though they still love Obama, they’re taking steps to distance themselves from what has become an increasingly dangerous relationship. Flowers, new cars, and soothing words are no longer effective. Even the race card isn’t ringing their bells.
Liberals have finally succeeded in persuading Americans to look at the broad picture instead of inconvenient details. The kicker is, as more Americans see the broad picture, they see the unprecedented devolution of power to the federal government. They see the loss of America’s traditional reliance on individuals instead of government. They see the loss of personal liberty and freedom of choice. And they don’t like it.

Obama Has Saved America!

Thank God! Oops, I mean, thank Obama. The economic crisis is almost over, the ‘war on terror’ is a thing of the past and, by his own words, Obama and his administration have saved America from catastrophe.
President Obama used the occasion of a 1/10 of 1% drop in the nation’s unemployment rate to claim both success and validation for his economic policies. He has valiantly brought America back from the brink of the economic chaos that was caused by his predecessor. But as is often the case with Obama, the devil is in the details.
In July, 247,000 jobs were lost. Inquiring minds question how the unemployment rate could experience even a slight drop when the stats show Americans are still losing their jobs. John Lott gives us the answer:
“The reason is simple—the number of people who stopped looking for work rose dramatically.  637,000 additional people no longer consider themselves looking for work. This is by far the largest drop in the number of people who consider themselves in the labor force during the last year - almost twice the 358,000 increase in the people who left the labor force during June.”

Using Lott’s calculations, our actual unemployment rate stands at 16.3%, not the trumpeted 9.4%. Obama would have us believe this is good news. Our president would also have us believe his claim that the $1.2 trillion health care reform proposal is just the ticket to jump start the economy. (Hey, didn’‘t he just say he already jump started the economy?) I digress…

Now I’m not an expert, but I question how adding unsustainable debt to a record deficit to supposedly fix a non-problem is going to deliver us from financial Armageddon. But Obama says he can add 12 million illegal aliens and app. 25 million uninsured Americans to government health care rolls and this will somehow result in cost savings.

Oh, and despite his own words to the contrary in 2007, Obama now assures us that the public option proposal most assuredly won’t put private insurers out of business. Whew.

Since we all know Obama doesn’t lie, Americans will, once again, just have to accept the word of our Organizer in Chief. Hey, he’s entitled to some slack. After all, he just ended the war on terror.

That’s right. A mere six months after taking office, Obama has officially ended the war on terror. From now on, Obama has decreed that we’re only at war with Al Qaeda. All our brave warriors in Afghanistan can relax now that global jihad has been vanquished.
How did Obama accomplish this amazing feat? He did it in the Democrat’s time honored way. He merely redefined the terms.
‘Jihad’, ‘war on terror’ and ‘global war’ are no longer acceptable terms. They have been banished from the polite society the liberals, oops progressives have claimed as their own exclusive province. Case closed.

When I look back at all of Obama’s accomplishments of the last six months, I feel pretty stupid for not voting for him. Had I know he had the unique ability to actually redefine reality to his own specifications, I wouldn’t have spent so much time dwelling on his criminal cohorts, his socialist buddies and his terrorist ‘acquaintances’. I would have had blind faith in him and not pointed out his utter lack of any real accomplishments, experience or character. Boy, do I feel silly.
I’ve decided that I’m finally going to jump on the Obama bandwagon - right after I check out the pig that just flew right by my window.

Calibrate This, Mr. President

Dear Mr. President,

I’m one of those Americans that lives in flyover country. I was treated to your much publicized ‘teaching moment’ last night and felt a response was warranted.

I’d like to say, with all respect, that this American resents the patronizing arrogance you exhibited as you deigned to ‘teach America’ about race. First off, I don’t need lessons on race from you. I take my teachings from the Bible, not a man who sat through 20 years of ‘hate whitey’ sermons. I’d much prefer you bestow your teachable moments on, oh, say terrorists, or enemies of democracy.

Secondly, if you were genuinely interested in promoting racial healing, you might have used that teachable moment last night to address the third rail of race relations: namely, the reluctance of many blacks to look at whites without automatically assuming they are racists.

Last night, you had the perfect teachable moment, but, alas, you let it slip through your grasp. You had a wealthy, influential black man who continues to insist he is still oppressed. Then you had the white police officer who was merely doing his job in the correct manner. And then, we had you, Mr. President, a prime example of the problem. Said problem being the automatic assumption of racism without any facts to back it up.

You might have touched on the fact that many blacks of your generation have been taught that anything bad that happens in their life is a result of white oppression. You could have extrapolated or calibrated the fact that attitudes like that are extremely counterproductive and keep many blacks mired in the false comfort of victimization.

You might have addressed the fact that the only oppression happening these days is by your buddies Castro, Chavez and all the other third world dictators you seem to think are misunderstood men of good will.

Hey, you actually could have lectured your buddy Gates on the proper etiquette when dealing with law enforcement officers. Think of the great message that would have sent to young Americans. Respect for the law. That would have been a good thing to teach. But you let the opportunity pass with nary a word.

I’m sorry you didn’t get a good soundbite or photo op out of this unrelenting media saga. I know you were envisioning a hearty three way handshake that could be flashed around the world, signifying absolutely nothing. But the evening wasn’t a total waste. I actually did learn something.

I learned that you, and Henry Gates and other black men continue to believe that America is a racist country. I learned that you, Mr. President, will never solve any problems of race until you acknowledge your own racism against whites. I don’t think that will happen in my lifetime but I will continue to ‘hope’ for ‘change’.

And just out of curiosity, I was wondering what in the world you, the President of the greatest country in the world, is doing mediating the equivalent of a traffic ticket when our young men are dying in Afghanistan, our economy is in meltdown and Iran is on the brink of nuking Israel. Do you really think that was the best use of your time and political capital?

Under The Radar: 10th Amendment Movement Picks Up Steam

Millions of Americans watch with horror as the Obama administration continues to implement its own version of ‘change.’ Change that involves an unprecedented and systematic devolution of power to the federal government, in direct contravention of the Constitution.
From the pending takeover of 17% of economy under the auspices of health care reform, to the government takeover and subsequent ownership of automobile companies, to the unconstitutional interference in the formerly private market under the rubric of stimulating the economy. Not to mention the proposed cap and trade legislation which would give the federal government unlimited powers of taxation and regulation under the guise of saving the planet.
Totally ignored by elected officials of both parties is the tenth amendment of the Constitution, which states very clearly, “The power not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Many Americans don’t agree with the left’s idea of a ‘living constitution’, arguing that the intent of the founders should govern the interpretation and application of the Constitution, not the whimsical and politically motivated present day politicians. And, largely unreported by the media, they are starting to stand up to the federal government.
To date, 37 states have introduced sovereignty resolutions, asserting their state’s sovereign rights under the tenth amendment.
Earlier this month, Louisiana became the seventh state, joining Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Idaho and Tennessee to officially adopt a resolution affirming their sovereignty. These states are putting the federal government on notice that politicians in Washington do not have the right, under the Constitution, to continue to impose their increasingly onerous federal mandates on sovereign states.
Some states, with Arizona leading the way, are going a step further.
Under Arizona’s Health Care Freedom Act, which was passed by the Arizona state legislature this month, a voting initiative will be placed on the 2010 ballot that, if passed, will allow Arizona to opt out of any federal health care plan.

Following Arizona’s lead, five other states—Indiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota and Wyoming—are considering similar initiatives to opt out of federal health care for their 2010 ballots This, even before Congress has created the program.
Arizona is also preparing for the misnamed ‘climate’ bill, that passed the House this month. (With eight Republican votes.) The Arizona state Senate voted 19-10 to approve a bill banning the Department of Environmental Quality from enacting or enforcing measures with language pertaining to climate change.
Other states are stepping up to the plate and asserting their state’s sovereign right under the second amendment - a right that guarantees the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

On July 6, Florida introduced the Firearms Freedom Act which seeks to provide “that specified firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition for personal use manufactured in state are not subject to federal law or regulation” in the State of Florida.
Increasingly, the representatives ‘we the people’ have elected to preserve and protect our rights, are ignoring the clear, unequivocal language of the Constitution. Our politicians seem unaware of the fact that the Constitution does not include congressional power to override state laws.
In fact, the power our representatives are now accruing to the federal government was expressly voted down, not once, but several times.
During the Constitutional ratification process, James Madison drafted the ‘Virginia Plan’ which advocated a strong federal government. It proposed, among other things, giving Congress legislative authority, and a veto over state laws. Each of Madison’s proposals was soundly defeated. Our founders clear intent was vesting all powers in the states, with but a few, listed exceptions.
Ever since 1938, when FDR used the occasion of the great depression to drastically expand the scope of federal government (Wickard vs Filburn) using an absurd reading of the Commerce Clause, this unconstitutional taking of power by the central government has gone virtually unchallenged. Until now.
Though the media has ignored these efforts, ‘we the people’ are starting to fight back, via our state and local representatives.

Politicians need to be reminded that our Constitution is still in effect. And Americans need to be reminded that just because some believe the trendy notion that our Constitution is a ‘living, breathing’ document, doesn’t make it so.

Demise of the Rule of Law

With Obama’s ascension to the highest office in the land, America is quickly turning into two separate and unequal factions - the elites who decide the rules and the peons who are obliged to follow them.

Our political elites are currently crafting a drastic overhaul of a health care system 77% of Americans say they are happy with. They have decreed that all Americans will now be subject to the new health care rules. Those that don’t will be subject to $1,000 fines.  Congress itself, however, will be exempt from the rules they are demanding the rest of us follow. Congressional members have their own health care plan, one that is not available to the rest of us peons.

Oh, and the unions, who have attained temporary elite status by virtue of their campaign contributions, will be granted special rules allowing them to be exempt from the proposed taxes on health care that will be paid by the peons in flyover country. (That’s you and me)

Our politicians and the politically connected environmental elite are demanding all Americans drive smaller cars, use different light bulbs and pretty much alter their way of life to conform to the elite’s stated, but misleading, attempt to ‘save the earth.’ At the same time, these elites fly around in the same private jets they demonize CEO’s for using. To say nothing of the fleets of SUVs currently in use by the very people who would deny them to the rest of us peons.

President Obama is lecturing Americans to tighten their economic belts while he continues spending our tax dollars at an unsustainable rate. Quadrupling the deficit, with no end in sight. Very clearly indicating that the rules imposed on us peons don’t extend to the elites.

The Federal Trade Commission has announced it is going to begin going after bloggers who make false claims about products and/or don’t fully disclose conflicts of interest. This crackdown does not extend to the elites, who continue to make false claims, like Obama’s patently false statement, “I’ll be honest, there are countries where a single-payer system works pretty well”. Apparently the media elite won’t be subject to this crackdown either, unless, of course, they dare to challenge a liberal premise. (Sarah Palin comes to mind)

The elites in Congress will also be exempt from these new FTC dictates, as they continue to shut down inquiries into false claims Nancy Pelosi made about the CIA. Who continue to shut down amendments to audit the Federal Reserve. A host of democrat politicians and liberal advocacy groups also get a free pass to make false and misleading claims about health care, cap and trade, global warming, etc. Once again, the elites exempt themselves from the rules they impose on the rest of us peons.

The Obama administration is now actively involved in doubling the number of IRS agents to better enforce tax regulation and enforcement on the peons who live in flyover country and the capitalists who dare to make a, gasp, profit. The elites entrusted to run the IRS, however, are exempt from these rules, garnering nothing more than phony expressions of ‘deep concern’ when they’re caught failing to pay their own taxes. Ditto for the numerous Democrat appointees who have failed to abide by the IRS rules the rest of us peons are forced to live by.

President Obama, as a Senator, actually sponsored legislation requiring 30 days notice and a valid reason given before Inspector Generals could be fired. The very rule he sponsored, however, doesn’t apply to Obama, as he gave IG Gerald Walpin one hour notice to quit or be fired when he started investigating a friend of Obama’s.

President Obama lectures the world that “suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away” while, on the same day, demonizing Fox News for daring to question what he says.

President Obama has ruled that America has no right to meddle in Iran’s affairs. Apparently this rule doesn’t apply to Israel, where Obama is actively meddling in Israel’s affairs in order to get them to halt settlements. Or to the coup in the Honduras, which Obama was quick to label ‘not-legal.’

We are now a nation with two sets of rules. One set for the elites, which is flexible and arbitrary, and another set of rules for the rest of us peons. The rule of law is now open to interpretation and discretionary enforcement, based on the transient whims of the reigning elite. Translation: There is no more rule of law. We should all be very scared.

I’m With Sarah!

Millions of liberals rejoiced and thousands of Republicans heaved a sigh of relief Friday as Sarah Palin announced her decision to resign as Alaska’s governor. In her usual forthright manner, Gov. Palin made clear that she was not content to squander her time on ‘politics as usual’. Here, here.

Sarah Palin has withdrawn from the arena she describes as “superficial wasteful political blood sport.” She, like millions of Americans, is tired of ‘politics as usual’.

On Saturday, Palin issued a message on social networking site Facebook saying, “I am now looking ahead to how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint.”

Palin has made the same choice many conservatives are starting to make, opting to “effect positive change outside of government.” Politics as usual no longer represents the 62 million Americans who didn’t vote for Obama. Disenfranchised citizens now have no say on the the takeover of our country by radical forces and, like Sara, they are starting to seek solutions outside the political realm. And many are coming to the realization that election to public office may no longer be the best way to serve our country.

Any effective leader on the right, any conservative with the guts to stand on the principles long since abandoned by the GOP, can expect election to public office to be a waste of time and effort. A lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Where political ambitions trump sound policy. Where the ability to lie convincingly is mandatory and misleading the public is essential to re-election.

Our political system has become a no holds barred PR battle, with muckraking as its main theme and form over substance as its governing philosophy. Essential time must necessarily be spent fighting fires instead of getting things done. Time that could be better spent “keeping an eye on the ball.”

The “ball” is representing and protecting the system of government our founding fathers bequeathed to us. Many conservatives believe this is no longer possible in the political realm, where our elected officials are more concerned with amassing power and retaining their offices than with protecting and defending the rights of all Americans.

Like Sarah, I believe politics works best from the ground up. At a recent gathering of my state representatives, I implored them to stand up and yell ‘STOP’ to the unconstitutional and unprecedented devolution of power to the federal government. As one, their answer was the same as its been for decades, “Re-elect me and I will.” My answer: NO.

I, for one, withdraw my support from the business as usual GOP. From now on, I will search for solutions, like Sara, outside of the political realm. As Palin quoted, “I am not retreating, I am advancing in another direction.” I leave the entrenched politicians to play their increasingly destructive games by themselves. They will no longer be enabled or supported by me.

America’s strength has always come from ‘we the people’, not ‘we the politicians.’ It is time for all Americans to remember that and quit relying on government and/or politicians for solutions. Just as Sarah Palin has.

Public Sex

It used to be that forcing sex on an unconsenting adult was considered rape. No longer. Now personal, deviant and x-rated sex is quickly becoming commonplace in the public square.

In just the last week, this occupant of the ‘public square’ has been treated to images best confined to the pages of porn magazines. Images and acts that are popping up regularly on billboards, television, the internet and pages of major publications.

Calvin Klein, in their latest breach of good taste, launched a huge billboard in SoHo showing four languid, half-dressed models engaging in group sex. That billboard managed to be more offensive than Calvin Klein’s last campaign, which featured half-clad dead bodies. I guess porno and death sell jeans. Go figure.

Not to be outdone, Burger King just released their new ‘Super 7 Incher’ ad, equating burgers with acts that are best kept private. Absent from the ad was any hint of subtlety. Apparently Burger King believes that appealing to your sexual appetite will titillate you into buying their burgers. Or something.

Moving right along, this weekend San Francisco celebrated sexual ‘diversity’ with the 39th annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Parade & Festival. This fun festival includes a Dyke March and the annual Castro Street Dance hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. If last years’ Festival is any indicator, nudity and sex will be prominently featured. In the public square.

Ditto New York. Last weekend, New York played host to the Folsom-East Deviant Sex-Fest. Again, homosexual bondage, fisting and the casual swapping of bodily fluids played out in the public square. Lewdness laws were suspended for the duration. Just imagine the outcry if that were a terrorist receiving electro shock instead of an American citizen intent on displaying his sexual habits and his genitals in public.

These increasingly public displays of sex that many now claim as a right, portray sex as the mere indulgence of a fleeting impulse instead of an act that used to be associated with love. Sex, which is considered private and sacred by most Americans, is now being brought down to the level of a crude bathroom joke. And its being done smack dab in the middle of the public square, where channel changers and radio dials are of no use.

Last week Apple decided to cash in on the sexual tsunami by supplying porn to Iphone users. Since we are still a capitalist country, (for now, at least) this is Apple’s right. Just as it is the right of consumers to choose not to download their porn. A choice that is increasingly being denied many Americans as smut, porn and casual sex become staples of more advertising campaigns. As more ‘gay pride’ events take place in ever more public places. As more and more Americans ascribe to the notion that their sexuality belongs in the public domain instead of in the bedroom.

In today’s public square, it has been decided that Christians have no right to foist their beliefs on others, but no such constraints shackle the gay activists, businesses and the old media who continue to thrust their demeaning view of sex into the face of every American.

Sex sells. Appealing to base instincts, prurience and scandal will always find an audience in those that need to see ugliness in others in order to feel better about themselves. The silver lining is, at least now we’ll be able to identify those sad souls. They’re the ones wearing Calivn Klein jeans and stuffing Burger King 7 inchers into their mouths.

Heterosexual Pride Month

Obama came through on his campaign theme of ‘equality’ Monday by proclaiming June as “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month”. Obama lauded what he calls “the determination and dedication” of the LGBT movement.
In the same spirit of equality, I’d like to propose July to be designated as Heterosexual Pride Month in hopes of drawing attention to and appreciation for traditional moral values and marriage as practiced by heterosexuals. Heterosexual Pride Month could be an occasion to focus on the joys of being heterosexual and monogamous. And the determined and dedicated Americans who practice both.
Heterosexuals, whom I’ll call ‘happies’, seldom have their voices heard or their sexual practices mentioned. Although a majority of Americans are happies, they are loath to flaunt their bedroom habits in public. Blame an ingrained sense of outdated modesty.
Most happies are advocates of traditional marriage and cling to the notion that sex should be a private affair. Some even believe that sex is a matter between a man and his wife and believe the government has no right to dictate or influence what they do in the privacy of their own bedrooms.

Some happies go even further and believe that God made Adam and Eve (not Adam and Steve) for a darn good reason. Most happies also believe that their sexual habits should not be thrust into the faces of those who feel differently. They call it, well, just good manners. Both of these views would be excellent topics for discussion during Heterosexual Pride Month.
Since the traditional family has long been considered a vital component of civil society, we could also use Heterosexual Pride Month to emphasize and explore the social compact that traditional marriage used to signify.
Now that Obama has brought tolerance back into vogue, I recommend using Heterosexual Pride Month as an occasion to voice the legitimate moral objections many Americans (57%) have to gay marriage and the plethora of sexual practices that Obama, in the name of equality, is demanding all Americans not only accept, but endorse.

I’d be willing to host a discussion on the topic of homophobia, and explore why 98% of happies are automatically labeled homophobic if they dare to comment on what they legitimately consider an aberrant lifestyle.
Another panel discussion during Heterosexual Pride Month could deal with wether or not gender should be optional. We could then explore the harmful effects of indoctrinating impressionable young children into the idea that gender and/or sexuality is merely a lifestyle option. Special emphasis could be placed on the documented detrimental effects of the gay lifestyle.

We could then go on to discuss the physical and mental health implications of gay vs. happy, and finish off with a quick overview of the Constitution and the role of government in dictating moralality.
Heterosexual Pride Month will necessarily present quite a challenge, as many heterosexual couples these days are so busy working to pay their taxes and raising children that many of them just don’t have the time to devote to activism.
Besides, most happies believe its not right to force their views of marriage and happiness on others. On this point, President Obama concurs. Just last Monday he said that the United States cannot impose its values on other countries. I’m sure he also meant ‘on other citizens.’ This could be another excellent topic for discussion.
In the spirit of inclusion, I’d like to extend an invitation to the LGBT movement to join us happies in making Heterosexual Pride Month a reality. With all of us working together we could have a real multicultural event with lots and lots of dialogue.
You may RSVP to nancy@rightbias.com  Looking forward to a rollicking good time.

Media Malfeasance

Question: If news isn’t reported, is it still news? Not according to the old media. The old axiom, ‘If it bleeds, it leads’, is still operative in most newsrooms around the country. Good news, if reported at all, is merely an afterthought.
For the savvy news consumer, good news is recognized mainly through its absence. Just last week, headlines across the country reported the dire predictions of the World Health Organization - the swine flu, oops, the H1N1 virus, was ‘a grave threat to humanity’. A major pandemic is imminent and we’re (again) on the brink of catastrophe.
The threat was so dire, it required the president of the greatest country in the world (that’s America, for you Obama voters) to appear, once again, on national TV to advise all citizens to wash their hands. Lost in the lockstep reporting of the old media, was the fact that, gee, many ‘experts’ were claiming that this dangerous flu strain was no more severe than the normal flu strain.

The pandemic failed to materialize, prompting headlines warning of ‘complacency.’ It appears the WHO, the Obama administration and the liberal media were, well, wrong. Swine flu deaths: App 12. Unreported, was the fact that regular flu deaths (in 2006) were 56,000.
The reigning political elite that now rule our country have officially branded most conservative views as ‘fringe’ views held by ‘extremists’, validating a viewpoint held for decades by the old media. Thus journalists no longer feel the need to report on issues of concern to the 62 million Americans who didn’t vote for Obama. Their concerns are officially irrelevant. Case closed.
The majority of Americans realize the liberal bent of the old media. Most can identify opinion pieces that are increasingly presented as news, but they have to resort to the net or talk radio in order to be made aware of all the good news which is deliberately relegated to the back burner in the (remaining) newspapers and nightly news broadcasts.
For example:
Recent polls show shrinking support for new gun control measures and strong public sentiment for enforcing existing laws instead.
A new national poll suggests that a majority of Americans oppose legalizing same sex marriages.
Seventy-seven percent (77%) of U.S. voters say that they prefer a free market economy over a government-managed economy. That’s up seven points since December.

A new poll conducted by Pew Research finds the support for legal abortions has dropped to its lowest level in 15 years.
For just the second time in more than five years of daily or weekly tracking, Republicans now lead Democrats in the latest edition of the Generic Congressional Ballot.

These items are no longer considered news by the media elite. Not only does the old media purposefully downplay any news item that challenges their lock-step liberal world view, news organizations have taken increasing latitude with the news they do choose to report.
A recent NYT headline announced that ‘Criminal Prosecutions Will Not Be Pursued For Bush ‘Terror Lawyers’. Whew. Reading beyond the headline however, one found the real story. Namely, the unprecedented interference and intimidation by our Justice Dept., deciding merely to refer those nasty lawyers to the Bar Assoc. for disbarment.
Reading this story, casual readers might assume that the government actually has the right to censure legal opinions. Serious readers know that our very rule of law in under serious attack. Ho Hum.
The media has now put a new twist on Dan Rather’s ‘fake but accurate’ premise. They routinely report ‘accurate but fake’ stories, with facts presented in a such a way as to alter their original meaning. This is deliberate. This is accepted. And this is media malfeasance.
If the conservative press decided to adopt the old media’s misleading and manipulative template, one could expect to see headlines like ‘Nancy Morgan Decides Not To Indict Obama For Phony Birth Certificate’. But I wouldn’t post a headline like that, because its not honest journalism. And neither the old media.
By the way, in case you haven’t heard, we won the war in Iraq.

Obama’s Rippling Pecs

Just as I didn’t want to hear the explicit details about Bill Clinton’s private parts when Juanita Broderick accused him of rape back in the 90’s, neither do I want to see the current President of the United States featured on the front page of a magazine with his chest bared.

Color me a prude for caring more about the image of the United States than Obama’s rippling pecs. Personally, I don’t think they ripple that much but hey, the media says they do, so they must. Color me old fashioned for believing modesty is not an outdated virtue. And color me disgusted that the president of the greatest country on earth allows his half naked image to be displayed and included in the new culture of celebrity.

Yes, sales of the magazine will go through the roof. And yes, the younger set will consider Obama the essence of cool. And the feminists? They’re having a collective orgasm as we speak.

To feminists, Obama is the quintessential metrosexual. For all you other prudes out there, a metrosexual is a feminist invention designed to redefine a ‘real man’. Guys like John Wayne and Clint Eastwood are out - they exemplified the now outdated version of strong men who used brute force instead of relying on dialogue and charm.

The new revised version of manhood is more politically correct. Body hair is out and testosterone is best kept under wraps. Strong silent types are passe. The new male is sensitive and knows how to cry. The new male is more gentle, more feminized, less threatening, less male. More, well, Obama.

In the face of overwhelming acceptance of the new-improved ‘man’ I feel kinda silly. My idea of a real man is more along the lines of Clint Eastwood or Sean Connery. You know, the type of guy that wears the pants as opposed to the dude who uses hair spray and nail polish.

As I gaze on Obama’s bare and rippling chest, I don’t see a real man. I see the nerd that gets sand kicked on him by more powerful members of the species. I see a narcissist who values his exterior over his interior. But like I said, that’s just me. And my kind of thinking is way out of tune these days.

As my feminist mother will tell you, my problem is I can’t alter my basic nature in order to be in tune with the times. My nature insists there is a basic difference between men and women. Men are stronger. They are the protectors of women and children, whether or not those women and children think they need protecting. Women are the nurturers, taking care of their men and their children. You know, the role they’ve played since the dawn of man.

When I see Obama cavorting around in his swim suit, I don’t feel, well, secure. I keep thinking of all those nasty terrorists that want to annihilate us. I know its silly, but I just can’t envision Obama as a warrior, a protector, a ‘real man’. I also can’t keep from wondering why everyone sees him as handsome and sexy and virile. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Our president has been called the world’s greatest celebrity. That may be true. My question is, what happens when the celebrity fades, as it always does. Who will be left to deal with the threats our country faces, both at home and abroad?  If I had to bet my last dollar, (and its almost come to that) I’d bet on murdering jihadists over a cool guy with rippling pecs any day. But that’s just me.

Replacing God

While speaking in Ankara, Turkey this week, President Obama made an astonishing proclamation. He claimed, “We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.” Instead, he said, “We are a nation of citizens”, essentially assigning fealty to ‘the state’ over fealty to God. The world listened, and nodded.
Back home in the U.S., Newsweek editor Jon Meacham welcomed The End of Christian America: “The decline and fall of the modern religious right’s notion of a Christian America creates a calmer political environment and, for many believers, may help open the way for a more theologically serious religious life.”
I guess its settled. God is now outdated, at least among our political and media elite. In their world view, what they sneeringly call the religious right is now merely a fringe group. America itself has evolved to a higher plane. A more progressive plane, if you will.
The overwhelming majority of Americans who profess faith in God are being told that the times have changed.  Christianity, our ruling elite inform us, is only one of many religions, all of which are equal.

In case we don’t get it, President Obama, while abroad, expressed a deep appreciation for the Islamic faith while, here at home, he appointed a gay-rights activist to the federal government’s faith-based initiative. Said activist described Pope Benedict XVI and certain Catholic bishops as “discredited leaders.” Get it?

The election of Barack Obama has ushered in a new era in the war for hearts and minds in America. Obama, representing the left, believes that man, not God, is omnipotent, thus paving the way for man (Obama) to take control of every facet of life in America. Obama and the government know best. They are now in charge.
President Obama is asking for your blind faith, the faith usually reserved for God. Without any record of achievement, he asks that you believe in him, that you follow his dictates. That you allow him to lead us from the wilderness.
What Obama is doing has been done before. Successfully. In the former Soviet Union, churches operated only with permission of the state. In China, the crackdown continues on underground churches. The ‘state’ knows it must have supremacy over God in order to effectively rule (subjugate) its citizens.
Pol Pot knew this. Lenin knew this. Mao Tse Tung knew this. Any dictator who conquers a country through force knows this. And Obama knows this.

In order for the state to be supreme, fealty to God, to family and to communities, must be replaced with fealty to the state. This strategy is now being implemented in America, with increasing success.
The traditional family, the backbone of our nation, is being redefined as we speak. The institution of marriage is being undermined by the creeping acceptance of gay marriage. Faith in God is being replaced with faith in Mother Earth.
Its no mistake that the Obama administration is jumping aboard the environmental bandwagon. They recognize the basic human desire to believe in a cause or ideal greater than ourselves.
By making the environment the new religion, all those higher feelings may be directed and manipulated by the state. And all that money, formerly called tithing, may now be directed towards supposed efforts by the government to ‘save the planet.’ In other words, God can’t save the planet, only man can.
Liberalism frees man from pesky moral restraints and abolishes sin in favor of the celebration of self. Guilt may now be assuaged by advocating for environmental purity. Best of all, total redemption is available for those who care enough to become ‘carbon neutral.’
In order for this to work, government has to get God out of the way. And they’re doing a bang-up job. The ACLU has terrorized cities across the country with threats of lawsuits for allowing the barest hint of religion into state policy.
The secularist media portrays anything smacking of Christianity as totally beyond the pale. Newspapers, magazines and television are of one mind, depicting any show of faith in God as a fringe mentality, as unseemly as picking one’s nose in public.
God is now passe, at least according to those elites who set the agenda in our country. Environmentalism is the new religion for all right thinking people. And if you don’t agree, well, it doesn’t matter. Obama won, haven’t you heard? He has claimed a mandate, and, so far, no one is challenging it. We voted for it. We got it.
