Everything I Know I Read in the Newspaper

In the Chicago Suburbs we have a pretty good newspaper I don’t subscribe to.  I should.

It was founded by H C Paddock 120 years ago.  His motto is one I subscribe to in life.

Our Aim:

TO FEAR GOD,
TELL THE TRUTH
AND
MAKE MONEY

It seems to be working out.  They are still in business.  They still aim to tell the truth and they still make money.

If I support a politician or a leader he must be of this aim as well.  I do support such a man.  I hope you can say the same of the person you support.

Chased by Fred the stalking horse Mike goes for blood in Michigan

Fred Thompson is a marginal candidate on the way out. If he finishes in double digits in South Carolina it’ll be amazing.

So, why did he beat upon Mike Huckabee last night. It’s stalking horse politics. He is doing McCain’s dirty work. McCain benefits from Mikes beating upon and Fred Doesn’t care. He just needs a nap. Or a good job in the White House if Mac becomes POTUS. He’s doomed and has nothing to lose.

Meanwhile, Mike has decided to go for blood in Michigan. This should all but put Romney to bed or at least show him the way to the chamber.

Rudy is smiling all the way to the Graveyard. His future in Florida is more akin to the Shuffleboard court than appointing anyone to the supreme court.

So, it’s really only Mike and Mac. Good guys. I’m just waiting for the implosion. The ultimate Bad Mac Attack. That’s something John never fails to deliver. When he does, fire up the Sunbeam.

Who will that leave standing? HMMMM.

Of course Justin may be right. It may come to a brokered convention. That’ll be interesting and entertaining.

Mike is playing the political game precisely right. And it’s frustrating the heck out of all the institutional conservatives. David Limbaugh correctly identifies Mike as more Reagensque than he wishes Mike was. Certainly more like GWB than anyone wishes he was.

UPDATE: The long knives are out for McCain. Mark Levin lists all the reasons why everyone would vote for Romney or Fred. The politics of who and what I'm against and not what I'm for. This is a loser strategy. Keep it up and prepare to die (Politically).

Fox Republican Debate - I’m amazed, Ron Paul is ……….. I have no words

As I write this I just heard Ron Paul talk about the encounter in the Straits of Hormuz on the Fox South Carolina Debate.

What an Idiot. Not that I’m prejudiced.  He will be pilloried for this.  And should be.

Romney looks pretty good on this.  Rudy is lame. Fred, I’ll not offend.  Huck is Huck, funny, clever and popular.  McCain is good, I just don’t trust him.

Can we not hear anymore tinfoil hatism from Paul.  He is not worthy to be on the same stage of these other men.

Romney is tougher than anyone he wants to take on

I am pretty sure I could beat the crap out of Rob Port. I met him once. Yea, he’s half my age, in better shape than I am and all that. I’m a big guy. If I got in early and took a good shot maybe I could whip his ass. Just not today, and not till I meet him where and when I think I have a chance to whoop his rear end. Not that I’m a coward or anything. You understand.

You know I’m joking. I like Rob.

But this is exactly what Romney is doing. I’m even surprised he is campaigning in Michigan, never mind hiding from the back alleys of South Carolina and Florida. He knows full well his butt is about to be handed to him.
Meanwhile, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, who won the Iowa caucus, hastily scheduled a Michigan appearance Friday following a debate in South Carolina the night before.

While he has not campaigned extensively in the state, he is nonetheless leading in the latest poll of Michigan voters, which was taken shortly after his Iowa win.

A poll released Wednesday by the Lansing-based Rossman Group has Huckabee at 23 percent, Romney at 22 percent and McCain at 18 percent among 300 likely Republican voters surveyed January 6 and 7.

The poll has a margin of error of 5.8 percent.

I get the idea, but let’s not let the retreat of the Lite Brigade fool us. Huck will prevail in MI, SC, and FLA. I hope Romney has lots and lots of money left to overcome the big MO coming on with big Huck on super Tuesday.

Romney never learned not to step on superman’s cape or pee into the wind. He’s browning up in the old sunbeam along with Fred.

OH,Rats, now Rob really will want to kick my ass.

For you Biblical Scholars, ass is a good word.

Kerry Endorses Obama - How much did THAT cost Hillary

I see that John Kerry has endorsed Barak Obama.  I think that must be the worst endorsement anyone could ever get.

So, I’m thinking, How much did Hillary pay Mr Kerry to Endorse Obama.

That couldn’t have been cheap.

The size of the Hll Yet to be Climbed is 1191 steps straight up

I just stumbled across this really good guide to the battle before Mike, Mac, Mitt or Rudy (ok, and or Fred).  It’s HUGE!

If you look at it and then take a click on each of the months you can easily see how and why it’s going to be a long spring and a longer summer.

If no one other than Huck comes out of the Florida Primary with a win we will either have Huck for Pres with an R on his Chest or a brokered Convention.

This is a really really uphill battle for anyone.

I’ll be honest, till I looked this over I didn’t get it.  Becoming the Nominee is going to very very difficult for the group we have on the plate right now.

Welcome to HELL Philip Agee

Philip Agee has died at 72 years old and is surprised to find himself eating burning coals and rotting in hell.  He didn’t believe in Heaven or Hell.  He’s no longer an atheist.  Not that I’m judging him you know.  That just wouldn’t be right.  I dislike traitors.  Agee was one.

He’s confused.  He thought he did right.  Reuters called him a whistleblower. His book “Inside the Company: CIA Diary” revealed the names of agents in Latin America and was published in 27 languages.  He thought it would get him into heaven if there was one.  It didn’t.

He singlehandedly derailed significant work the CIA was doing.  Identified people by name.  People lost their lives because of it. I remember this well.  The liberals lionized him.  Pilloried one guy who didn’t out Valeri Pflame.  They are traitors.

He is slimeball material and now food for worms.

Good for the worms.

I’m an equal opprotunity offender

I have a group of very liberal friends most of whom I grew up with in North Dakota 60 years ago. North Dakota is the most socialist state in the USA according to the editor of the Lamoure Chronicle. After I heard this info I called him and asked if he had indeed written such a story. He said he had. So don’t be shocked that ultra liberals still live in ND.

These liberals have pretty much cut me out of any conversation because, well, I called them NAZIS.

They are easily offended. This was well before the release of the recent book calling Liberals Fascists.

So, since I am an equal opportunity offender, I thought if you had a few liberals left in your circle of friends you would like to lose, call them Nazis.

You’ll be lonely, but you’ll be right.

I am not alone on this one

Huck on Dave

Talk about judgment: Mike Huckabee says he has placed his political fate in the hands of David Letterman.

“If I win New Hampshire, it’s because I did this show,” the former Arkansas governor said Monday night on CBS’ “Late Show” while taking a break from campaigning in the nation’s first presidential primary.

“If I lose New Hampshire, it’s because I did this show,” he added to laughter and applause.

Unlike his appearance last Wednesday on late-night rival Jay Leno’s NBC talk show, the GOP candidate didn’t anger striking writers by crossing their picket line. Letterman has a separate agreement with the writers for his show.

Huckabee, who was heading back to New Hampshire for Tuesday’s primary, told Letterman that campaigning was exhausting.

“Most days are 20 hours and they’re pressure-packed,” he said. “That’s part of the deal. ... If you get into this race, you have to be prepared to go the distance.”

Huckabee said he believed that most people run for president because they feel they owe the country and want to protect it.

“Also, you get to live in that really nice house that, you know, is down there in Washington,” he said.

Letterman asked if there was an ideological difference between those who live in Iowa _ Huckabee won the Republican caucuses there last week _ and New Hampshire.

“What I find is, everybody’s an American. And I don’t care who they are and what they are, they want this country to quit fighting each other politically,” Huckabee said. “It doesn’t matter whether it’s Iowa or New Hampshire or any other state in this country, people get it. I don’t think Washington gets it. ... And they’re so polarized, they have become paralyzed.”

You may not agree with his politics, but he is charming.

Shame on the Republican Establishment

In today’s Wall Street Journal there is this:

The good news for Sen. John McCain is that he suddenly looks pretty good to a Republican establishment eager to have somebody/anybody other than Mike Huckabee as its presidential standard bearer. The bad news is that this may not be a great year to be the establishment choice.

What we have here is pure and simple class warfare, pigeonholing, using religion as a litmus test and generalized bigotry based purely on the idea that some people believe in God and that therefore makes them inferior to you.

This has shown the filthy underbelly of a decadent narrow minded political party I love.  I have been a life long republican.  My dad ran for Governor as a Republican in North Dakota in the 60s.  He was a Republican State Senator for 20 years.  We were so conservative that we squeaked.  We backed Reagan in 1976 while most people thought he was just a bad actor.  Going against the grain of the republican establishment.

We as a family of Republicans would have NEVER acted like the spoiled brats of the republican establishment does today with the vindictive tirades that make blogs and the press against a republican who happens to be a man of faith.  All because the republican establishment can’t get its way. Like spoiled brats.

Shame on them.  If I were to go back over the last couple weeks comments on Say Anything you would think this was 1953 and the comments on Say Anything about Christians were about the Negroes of the south.  It’s the same level of pure prejudice based purely on ignorance.

Shame on you.

You don’t have a clue that there are people on the planet who would be reassured by a man who shares values and for whom the Word of God is a guide on life and leadership.  I would rather have a man as President who looks to God for guidance rather than looks to his MBA or what the Polls say.  I want a man who lives his life like I do.

That man is Mike Huckabee for me.  Oh, I’ll vote Republican no matter what.  I’m still a Republican, I vote the party not the man, I don’t know what the rest of you are.

You’re not Republicans.

Shame.

Why Huckabee will be the next Republican Candidate

Stay with me here in the Scenario:

Romney loses New Hampshire to McCain.  And then Michigan.  And South Carolina and then Florida to Gulliani.  Drops out.

McCain becomes front runner.  Gulliani wins Florida but the backlash against Gulliani pushes McCain higher still.

Then McCain does something really stupid.  I mean, McCain is the classic stupid is as stupid does guy.

This week on Meet the Press he said:

With regards to Osama Bin Laden McCain once again criticized President George W. Bush. When asked how we would catch Osama, the senator from Arizona said: “Well, first of all, I will dramatically—I wouldn’t have passed up some of the opportunities we passed up, such at, as at Tora Bora, and President Clinton passed up.  But most importantly, I’ll improve our human intelligence.”

Russert pushed him and asked:

If your advisers said to you, “Mr. President, this is where Osama bin Laden is.” “But understand, if we go in, we could very well destabilize Pakistan, perhaps bring about the overthrow of President Musharraf.” Would you trade Osama bin Laden for Musharraf as president?

McCain’s - very good answer: “I would, I would never have that situation arise, because Musharraf and I have an, a relationship that goes back a number of years.  I would be in constant communication with him, and I’m sure that maybe publicly or privately he would be working very closely.  That’s the benefit…”

He went on to say that - with regards to whether Musharraf isn’t surrounded by Taliban sympathizers - “I think there’s a real problem, part of it bred by us back when we cut off all relations with their military.  I think there’s a problem, and there’s a problem in their intelligence service.  But Musharraf himself, I think he’s a good man.  But I think he’s made mistakes, don’t get me wrong.” He added:

And we’ve got to have—move forward with these elections and have them free and fair.  But I can work with him.  He understands the threat to his country that the Taliban and al-Qaeda present.  I mean—and radical Islamic extremists.  He’s a very smart man.  He’d be one of the first to go. They’ve tried to kill him nine times, OK?  Nine times they’ve tried to kill Musharraf.  He’s not their favorite guy.  So I would be able to work with him, and, and, and I—as I have in the past.  So I don’t, I don’t see that scenario arising.”

This is one of the reasons that I think that he would generally make a good president, at least with regards to foreign policy issues. It’s unlikely that he will make any big mistakes that destabilize the region. He understands the region, he knows the people and he knows what work and what doesn’t.

OK, I get it.  It’s George Bush’s fault we don’t have Osama in chains.  If you’d been president we would have had him.  Right?  Boom a shot right in the foot.

That leaves who?

I know Rob would like it would be Fred Thompson.  I would too if there were any evidence whatsoever that he is actually alive.  I don’t believe it.
From all outside appearances Fred is Dead.

So, get used to it.  Unless McCain can behave himself HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

We will have Gulliani or Huckabee.  Please someone show me where I’m wrong.  I don’t think it’s going to be Gullinai.  Placing a third of a voting block of evangelicals in play is a losing proposition for certain with or without Pat Robertson’s endorsement.

This is going to be dicey and Huck can only come out on top unless I’m missing something here.  Huck and Obama.  Rank amateur versus a guy who actually ran a state.  We can win this thing.

Cheap oil if you buy it in Gold.

The Wall Street Journal's good article last week about the price of oil and gasoline in real dollars was pretty well written.

From that Article:

Since 2001 the dollar price of oil and gold have run in almost perfect tandem (see nearby chart). The gold price has risen 239% since 2001, while the oil price has risen 267%. This means that if the dollar had remained "as good as gold" since 2001, oil today would be selling at about $30 a barrel, not $99. Gold has traditionally been a rough proxy for the price level, so the decline of the dollar against gold and oil suggests a U.S. monetary that is supplying too many dollars.

What that means in real terms is we don't have high priced oil, we have a cheap and cheapening dollar. This isn't good news in the short term.

But, as the world turns with a 13 trillion dollar economy kicking in we will reverse the trend and you will see gold retreat as it always does, dollar recover from here as it always does, and the Euro retreat.

The Doomsayers are wrong.

Fred Thompson’s a Nazi

And I have pictures to prove it!

Fascist Fred shows his true credentials.

See? Nazi salute!

Hitler waves to the crowds

- OK, He’s really not, but I thought this was how stupid it was all getting.  Anyone can make any symbol mean anything they want if they try hard enough. It is very easy to prove that the US is becoming fascist if you dig just a little.

And what does all of that prove? That the US is really the new Nazi Germany? Or that, just perhaps, people should step back and try to get a bit of context before passing judgment on an entire continent. Of course Fred isn’t a Nazi, and of course the United States isn’t the new fascist oligarchy but, then, neither is fascism making a comeback over here. The “evidence” is a bunch of and out-of-context video and still images and commentary from people who have a vested interest in proving that fascism exists and is ready to take over the whole of Europe - so they can discredit any movement that tries to strip power from the state and return it to the people by characterizing it as “fascist” and “Nazi.

From across the pond.

What You aren’t allowed to watch by the Main Stream Media

This is a video that if you try to watch on You Tube they will block you. This is one way you will be able to see it without censorship.

WHY? It tells truth about the left wing assisted invasion of Europe by radical Islam.

Sweden is in free fall sociologically. They are the canary in the coal mine. This is happening in the USA as well.

This is why when you hear all about Britteny Spears it’s the same thing. Watch this and see if you see what I see.
