Olmert: Israel’s Worst Traitor

Israel to help Muslims carve Quranic verses on Temple Mount Islamic writings all over holiest site for Judaism

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

JERUSALEM – After three years of waiting, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert quietly has granted permission to the Muslim custodians of the Temple Mount to repair and enhance Quranic verses plastered around Judaism’s holiest site, WND has learned.

The approval came as result of the petitioning of the Israeli government by Jordan, which has been solidifying control over the Temple Mount in recent years.

There are more than 4,000 Quranic quotations written in Arabic calligraphy and carved into various Islamic buildings throughout the Temple Mount, including inside and outside the Al Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock.

The Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism. The First Jewish Temple was built there by King Solomon in the 10th century B.C. It was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 B.C. The Second Temple was rebuilt in 515 B.C. after Jerusalem was freed from Babylonian captivity. That temple was destroyed by the Roman Empire in A.D. 70. Each temple stood for a period of about four centuries.

The Jewish Temple was the center of religious Jewish worship. It housed the Holy of Holies, which contained the Ark of the Covenant and was said to be the area upon which God’s shechina or “presence” dwelt. All Jewish holidays centered on worship at the Temple. The Jewish Temple served as the primary location for the offering of sacrifices and was the main gathering place for the Jewish people.

According to the Talmud, the world was created from the foundation stone of the Temple Mount. The site is believed to be the Biblical Mount Moriah, the location where Abraham fulfilled God’s test to see if he would be willing to sacrifice his son Isaac.

Jewish tradition holds Mashiach, or the Jewish Messiah, will return and rebuild the third and final Temple on the Mount in Jerusalem.

”... there will I deal with and execute judgment upon them for their treatment of My people and of My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and because they have divided My land.” [Joel 3:2]

> Olmert, before he loses his position is surrendering Israel and Jerusalem to Israel’s enemies the Trans-Jordanian Palestinians. He is dividing the Holy Land and Jerusalem; and God will curse him and all involved, including the United States.
> Olmert, Bush and Rice in ignorance and vanity are pulling the world into the greatest and last war of humanity in the Middle East. The Bible tells us that when Israel is crying for peace and appeasing the enemy, suddenly destruction will fall upon the world.
> Obama would only make it worse, this is what comes of appeasement, especialy with Islam, it only and always means defeat for the enemies of Islam.

How Low Can Liberals Go? Below the Sewer!

I cannot confirm it is a real T-Shirt for sale, but just the fact someone would produce such a vile picture is beyond belief, no matter the motive:

On Sex-Ed Ad, McCain Is Right

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

In recent days, a consensus has developed among the Obama campaign and commentators in the press that John McCain has decided to lie his way to the White House. Exhibit A in this new consensus is McCain’s ad, released last week, claiming that Barack Obama’s “one accomplishment” in the field of education was “legislation to teach ‘comprehensive sex education’ to kindergartners.”

Newspaper, magazine, and television commentators quickly piled on. “The kindergarten ad flat-out lies,” wrote the New York Times, arguing that “at most, kindergarteners were to be taught the dangers of sexual predators.” The Washington Post wrote that “McCain’s ‘Education’ Spot is Dishonest, Deceptive.” And in a column in The Hill, the influential blogger Josh Marshall called the sex-education spot “a rancid, race-baiting ad based on [a] lie. Willie Horton looks mild by comparison.”

The condemnation has been so widespread that the Obama campaign has begun to sense success in placing the “McCain-is-a-liar” storyline in the press. But before accepting the story at face value, it might first be a good idea to examine the bill in question, look at the statements made by its supporters at the time it was introduced, talk to its sponsors today (at least the ones who will consent to speak), and find answers to a few basic questions. What were the bill’s provisions? Why was it written? Was it really just, or even mostly, about inappropriate advances? And the bottom-line question: Is McCain’s characterization of it unfair

Within moments of the ad’s appearance, the Obama campaign called it “shameful and downright perverse.” The legislation in question, a bill in the Illinois State Senate that was supported but not sponsored by Obama, was, according to Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton, “written to protect young children from sexual predators” and had nothing to do with comprehensive sex education for kindergartners. In a stinging final shot, Burton added, “Last week, John McCain told Time magazine he couldn’t define what honor was. Now we know why.”?

Byron York Investigated this Bill, the link to the full article is below; but also please note what one of the Bill’s authors said in an interview with York:

After we discussed other aspects of the bill, I told Martinez that reading the bill, I just didn’t see it as being exclusively, or even mostly, about inappropriate touching. “I didn’t see it that way, either,” Martinez said. “It’s just more information about a whole variety of things that have to go into a sex education class, the things that are outdated that you want to amend with things that are much more current.”

So, I asked, you didn’t see it specifically as being about inappropriate touching?

Absolutely not.”

Garofalo: Jail all Republicans

Janeane Garofalo, a not very attractive, funny or intellgent comedienne asserted that

Republicans believe in nothing decent and should all be locked up.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

“There is no evidence to support that the current incarnation of the Republican Party-hyphen-conservative movement has any tethering to decency, kindness, tolerance (or) open-mindedness,” she said. “What do they stand for? Torture as a policy. They stand for homophobia. They stand for no reproductive justice. They stand for denying global warming.”

A flabbergasted Fund, who was sitting next to her, asked: “So what should we do, jail them?”

“That would be great!” Garofalo exclaimed with a straight face.

After host Maher winced and offered, “That wasn’t helpful,” Garofalo claimed she was only joking.

More ranting:

Still, she claimed that compared to Republicans, “Democrats as people are fundamentally more decent.”

Garofalo drew cheers from the Los Angeles studio audience when she proclaimed Republicans stole the previous two presidential elections.

“George Bush didn’t win either election,” she said, suggesting Republicans tampered with “touch-screen voting” machines in 2004 to deny Democrat Sen. John Kerry victory.

“Democracy was hacked in 2004,” she said.

If this were a Republican or Conservative, I assure you there would be headlines today condemning them. Garofalo is mentally unbalanced and a joke, but what irritates me is that there are millions of people that are pleased at her insane rhetoric!

Obama attempted to delay Iraq withdrawal

While touring Iraq in July and publicly calling for troop withdrawal, Sen. Barack Obama was reportedly trying in private to delay plans for an American draw-down until after the next president took office.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

New York Post columnist Amir Taheri writes that he interviewed Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, who confirmed the Democratic presidential candidate met with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad to demand delay in the withdrawal of American forces.

“He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the U.S. elections and the formation of a new administration,” Zebari reportedly said.

The column states that Obama insisted it was in Iraq’s best interest to avoid an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its “state of weakness and political confusion.”

Such a position in private negotiations would be a stark contrast with Obama’s public record on the issue.

“The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq’s leaders to resolve their civil war is to immediately begin to remove our combat troops,” Obama said last year at a university in Iowa. “Not in six months or one year – now.”

Isn’t there a law that covers this? The Logan Act is a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. It was passed in 1799 and last amended in 1994. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years.

The text of the Act is broad and is addressed at any attempt of a US citizen to conduct foreign relations without authority. However, there is no record of any convictions or even prosecutions under the Logan Act.[1][2]

Not that anything will happen, but this appears to be a violation of Federal Law and Barak should have to face three years in the joint.

Sharia courts operating in Britain

Sharia courts have been operating in Britain to rule on disputes between Muslims for more than a year, it has emerged.

I don’t like the idea, but the decisions were non-binding and it is only among Muslims.

Five sharia courts have been set up in London, Birmingham, Bradford and Manchester and Nuneaton, Warwickshire. The government has quietly sanctioned that their rulings are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through the county courts or High Court. Previously, the rulings were not binding and depended on voluntary compliance among Muslims.

Lawyers have issued grave warnings about the dangers of a dual legal system and the disclosure drew criticism from Opposition leaders.

Dominic Grieve, the shadow home secretary, said: “If it is true that these tribunals are passing binding decisions in the areas of family and criminal law, I would like to know which courts are enforcing them because I would consider such action unlawful. British law is absolute and must remain so.”

Douglas Murray, the director of the Centre for Social Cohesion, added: “I think it’s appalling. I don’t think arbitration that is done by sharia should ever be endorsed or enforced by the British state.”

Muslim tribunal courts started passing sharia judgments in August 2007. They have dealt with more than 100 cases that range from Muslim divorce and inheritance to nuisance neighbours.

It has also emerged that tribunal courts have settled six cases of domestic violence between married couples, working in tandem with the police investigations.

Sheikh Faiz-ul-Aqtab Siddiqi, whose Muslim Arbitration Tribunal runs the courts, said that sharia courts are classified as arbitration tribunals under a clause in the Arbitration Act 1996. The rulings of arbitration tribunals are binding in law, provided that both parties in the dispute agree to give it the power to rule on their case.

The disclosures come after Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, sparked a national debate and calls for his resignation for saying that the establishment of sharia in the future “seems unavoidable” in Britain.

In July, Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, the Lord Chief Justice agreed that Muslims in Britain should be able to live according to Islamic law to decide financial and marital disputes. Mr Siddiqi said he expected the [Sharia] courts to handle a greater number of “smaller” criminal cases in coming years as more Muslim clients approach them. Two more courts are being planned for Glasgow and Edinburgh.

“All we are doing is regulating community affairs in these cases,” said Mr Siddiqi, chairman of the governing council of the tribunal. There are concerns for women suffering under the Islamic laws, which favours men. Mr Siddiqi said that in a recent inheritance dispute handled by the court in Nuneaton, the estate of a Midlands man was divided between three daughters and two sons.

The judges on the panel gave the sons twice as much as the daughters, in accordance with sharia. Had the family gone to a normal British court, the daughters would have got equal amounts.

In the six cases of domestic violence, Mr Siddiqi said the judges ordered the husbands to take anger management classes and mentoring from community elders. There was no further punishment. In each case, the women subsequently withdrew the complaints they had lodged with the police and the police stopped their investigations.

Mr Siddiqi said that in the domestic violence cases, the advantage was that marriages were saved and couples given a second chance.

Great Britain will regret submitting to Islam in granting them a separate legal system enforced by British law. They are losing their nation and it will not be Londinistan, but Englandistan.

Brokaw parrots ‘Jesus was community organizer’ line

WASHINGTON – “Jesus Christ was a community organizer. Pontius Pilate was a governor.”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It has become the favorite new party line of Democrats incensed at Sarah Palin’s Republican National Convention speech in which she poked fun at Barack Obama’s career experience as a “community organizer” in Chicago.

Former Democratic presidential campaign manager Donna Brazile was the first major Democratic figure to use it publicly, followed by Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn, in a speech on the House floor last Wednesday.

But today on “Meet the Press,” it was NBC anchorman Tom Brokaw using the line in an attempt to bludgeon former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also used his speech at the convention to ridicule the amount of space “community organizer” takes up on Obama’s resume.

“Senator Obama, who had an Ivy league education and could’ve gone to Wall Street, went back to Chicago, on the South Side,” explained Brokaw. “As you know, his supporters have defended him for working with poor families, many of whom lost their jobs when the Gary steel mills closed. In that mocking fashion, it seemed to a lot of people that you were belittling the role of a community organizer, and it led to this button (showing a campaign-style lapel pin) – it was addressed to Senator Palin, because she also talked about it – ‘Jesus Christ was a community organizer. Pontius Pilate was a governor.’ In retrospect, do you think you had too much sport with his role as community organizer, Mr. Mayor?”

> Brokaw is parroting Democrat Party - Obama Campaign talking points. The old fart is making no pretense of fairness or balance, he is a liberal and an Obamanite.
> Show me in Scripture where Jesus ever organized anything or anyone for any social, political or even charitable cause. He healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out evil spirits and presented the Gospel of Salvation to a world He condemned. Yes, He encouraged personal charitiable giving to the poor, not confiscatory taxation by the state.
> Pilate was hardly a governor, elected by the people as we define the term today, he was a high ranking military commander ruling in Judea in Caesar’s name, he mostly kept civil order, collected taxes for Rome and had some minor judicial capacities. While he ordered Jesus to be crucified, it was at the insistence of the Jewish leaders and as Pilate wanted to avoid civil unrest, which could have gotten him in trouble with Rome; and Jesus death, being conspired to by Rome via Pilate and Israel made the whole world guilty of Jesus’ death.

In other words, the idea of Obama being like Jesus, while it may advance his political Messiah image, is ludicrous in the extreme. Likewise, Palin’s role as Governor compared to the duties of Pilate are about as far removed from one another as possible.

Greenspan ‘Worst Global Economic Crisis Ever

Wall Street giant Lehman Brothers hanging by a thread as Greenspan warns of ‘worst economic crisis I’ve ever seen’

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Wall Street giant Lehman Brothers is staring bankruptcy in the face after Barclays and Bank of America turned their backs on a rescue bid.

News of the prestigious bank’s perilous position will send shockwaves through fragile global markets and economies, including here at home, as the credit crunch worsens.

Experts claimed other banks could go to the wall and conditions were worse than those faced in the 1929 Wall Street Crash.

Lehman’s 4,000 workers based in the City of London, many of whom are now likely to face the axe.

It could also sparking a mass cull of jobs across the financial sector that could stretch into the tens of thousands.

Fears are rising that if Lehman goes down, the crisis of confidence in the sector could spread to others and spark a wave of panic selling when global stock markets open today.

Describing the prospect of Lehman’s demise as ‘Armageddon’, one source warned a collapse could slash as much as 1,000 points off the value of America’s main stock exchange, the Dow Jones.

Such a precipitous fall would drag other stock markets into the mire, including Britain’s bluechip index, the FTSE 100.

Alan Greenspan, describing the banking crisis as the worst of his career and possibly the worst in a century including the 1929 Wall Street crash, added however that companies collapsing may not be a problem.

‘It depends on how it is handled and how the liquidations take place,’ he said.

‘And indeed we shouldn’t try to protect every single institution. The ordinary course of financial change has winners and losers.’

Appearing on US TV, he said: ‘Let’s recognize that this is a once-in- a-half-century, probably once-in-a-century type of event’  - the worst ‘by far’ in his career, he added.

‘There’s no question that this is in the process of outstripping anything I’ve seen, and it still is not resolved and it still has a way to go.

‘And indeed, it will continue to be a corrosive force until the price of homes in the United States stabilizes.

I am really ignorant about economic matters and I hope others here will enlighten me; but Greenspan does not seem to be one to “cry wolf” or “the sky is falling,” and I suspect he does know what he is talking about; and worse, if this falls on our heads before the election Obama gets the nod as best able to handle the economy in most polls, which can tip the election his way. If this hits before the election the Palin factor becomes a footnote in the history books, if we can afford to write any books.

Californians’ forced to back homosexual marriage

Californians’ utility bills back homosexual marriage
Group outraged by natural gas supplier giving $250,000 to stop Proposition 8

A California-based legal defense organization has expressed outrage that one of the nation’s largest natural gas and electric utility companies has donated $250,000 to squash the state’s voter-led drive to constitutionally define marriage as between one man and one woman, known as Proposition 8.

The Pacific Justice Institute, which specializes in the defense of religious freedom and civil liberties, has filed a complaint against Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), which provides utilities to approximately 15 million Californians.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

“Proposition 8 has no relevance to supply and distribution of energy services to its customers,” states the complaint filed with the California Public Utilities Commission. “As a corporation which has been given near monopoly status, (PG&E’s) use of money extracted from customers to influence an item appearing on the ballot that does not promote the welfare of customers relative to energy is an abuse of trust.”

The Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) is also advocating through the website NOtoPGE.com that customers switch utility providers in protest of PG&E’s action.

“There is no reason why pro-marriage homes, small businesses, corporations, apartment owners, schools or churches should continue to support a company like PG&E that is so opposed to the preservation of marriage,

This is a public utility with a near monopoly in the State of California to provide natural gas and electricity; and therefore, it has no right whatsoever spending public money in advancement of social affairs not directly related to their core business.

They should be forced to stop ALL investments in All Social issues not related to their core business, or fined or forced to surrender their right to do business in this state.

Church makes apology to Charles Darwin

Church makes ‘ludicrous’ apology to Charles Darwin - 126 years after his death

The Church of England will tomorrow officially apologise to Charles Darwin for misunderstanding his theory of evolution.

In a bizarre step, the Church will address its contrition directly to the Victorian scientist himself, even though he died 126 years ago.

But the move was greeted with derision last night, with Darwin’s great-great-grandson dismissing it as ‘pointless’ and other critics branding it ‘ludicrous’.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Church officials compared the apology to the late Pope John Paul II’s decision to say sorry for the Vatican’s 1633 trial of Galileo, the astronomer who appalled prelates by declaring that the earth revolved around the sun.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The officials said that senior bishops wanted to atone for the vilification their predecessors heaped on Darwin in the 1860s, when he put forward his theory that man was descended from apes.

The Church is also anxious to counter the view that its teaching is incompatible with science. It wants to distance itself from fundamentalist Christians, who believe in the Biblical account of the creation of the world in seven days.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Last night, the Church, which apologised for its role in the slave trade two years ago, came in for fierce criticism for its latest mea culpa.

Former Conservative Minister Ann Widdecombe, who left the Church of England to become a Roman Catholic, said: ‘It’s absolutely ludicrous. Why don’t we have the Italians apologising for Pontius Pilate?

‘We’ve already apologised for slavery and for the Crusades. When is it all going to stop? It’s insane and makes the Church of England look ridiculous.’

Andrew Darwin, a great-great grandson of the eminent scientist, said he was ‘bemused’ by the apology, which seemed ‘pointless’.

Not much of a shock, The Church of England has become a false church and their embrace of the religion of Darwin and rejection of the Biblical account of Creation is no big deal, they are no longer a Christian organization anyway. England itself, once a mostly Christian nation is now a major atheist and Muslim country.

Jesus asked would He find faith in Him on earth when He returned and the answer is very little to none. Same with America, much profession of faith in Christ still, but rapidly turning atheist and hostile to the Church. But, I thought I would pass on this little gem for those interested.

McCain’s torture stories phony

Left-wing radio talk show host Randi Rhodes attacked GOP presidential nominee John McCain’s life story, claiming that during his POW captivity in North Vietnam he was “well-treated, actually” and that despite his claims of suffering brutal torture, his wife “knows the truth too.”

Rhodes’ radio program is syndicated on Nova M Radio, which also operates a radio station in McCain’s home state of Arizona and calls itself “the future of Progressive Talk.”

Her comments, made earlier this month, claim that McCain was “very friendly with the Vietnamese” and that “they called him the Prince.” She claims he was well-treated by his captors because he traded propaganda interviews for good treatment.

The only possible conclusion by her comments is that McCain was a collaborator and a traitor.

Rhodes’ version of McCain’s imprisonment and description of it as being “well-treated” seems difficult to reconcile with McCain’s version of the events.

In his autobiographical account, “Faith of My Fathers,” McCain describes having his shoulder broken with the butt of a rifle, being stabbed in the groin with a bayonet, being refused medical treatment for multiple broken bones and attempting suicide to escape the pain.

“They cracked several of my ribs and broke a couple of teeth,” wrote McCain. “Weakened by beatings and dysentery, with my right leg again almost useless, I found it impossible to stand.

“On the third night I lay in my blood and waste, so tired and hurt that I could not move. Three guards lifted me to my feet and gave me the worst beating yet. They left me lying on the floor moaning from the stabbing pain in my re-fractured arm.”

Of course, Randi Rhodes also, at one time: threatened the life of President Bush on air.

Record 259 corporations honored for ‘gay’ support

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Cambell’s Soup

The newly released Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, which ranks hundreds of businesses on their “treatment” of employees who have chosen homosexual, lesbian, bisexual and transgender lifestyles, awards a record 259 corporations perfect scores, including newcomers Campbell’s Soup and Target.

The total in the 2009 report is up one-third from the 195 corporations so honored in 2008, according to the Human Rights Campaign, which explained that now an estimated nine million workers “are protected from employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression because of their employers’ policies on diversity & inclusion, training, health care, and domestic partnership benefits.”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The report notes that when the evaluation was begun in 2002, there were 13 corporations with such perfect scores – a total of 100 out of 100 possible – and that rose to 26 in 2003, 56 in 2004, 101 in 2005, 138 in 2006 and 195 in 2008.

The 2009 index “shows that corporate America understands that a diverse workforce is critical to remaining successful and competitive,” Joe Solmonese, the foundation chief, said in a prepared statement posted on the organization’s website. “In the absence of federal law that prohibits workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, it is up to employers to take the lead and implement policies that ensure all their employees are protected.”

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=75098

> Even if so inclined, it is not very practical to boycott or exert financial pressures on all these companies, though targeting one or two might be effective.
> Should Christians and other concerned people boycott these companies for not discriminating on the basis of sexual preferences or for such companies granting homosexuals, transgendered people or others equal financial benefits? No, I think fairness and equal treatment for all citizens demands these companies offer the same employment opportunities and benefits to all qualified applicants.
> However, many of these companies are doing much more than treating homosexuals, etcetera equally with heterosexual employees, they are using the money supplied by their customers to promote the homosexual agenda, which a majority of Americans believe involves a perverse lifestyle choice and it offends their personal religious beliefs. So, those companies that do support the homosexual agenda are fair targets for those objecting, for economic boycotts. Such economic protests are designed to discourage the use of their money to support the homosexual agenda, and it seems to me is a fair and American way of expressing their outrage.

If these companies believe the homosexual agenda is that important, they should be willing to suffer financial losses to defend their actions. If they fold to economic pressure, then perhaps we might reasonable conclude that their support now is to increase profits and their belief in the homosexual aganda is a sham.

Hadron Collider and the Big Bang

Despite Dr. Garrick’s righteous insistence that the Hadron Partricle Collider has nothing, cannot possibly have anything to do with the Big Bang, there are numerous articles about the experiments and the goal goal of those experiments:

The first scientific discoveries could well concern supersymmetry, the theory that all particles have twins known as “sparticles”. The search for the Higgs boson—the so-called “God particle” that is believed to give matter its mass—will take longer, with no results expected until late next year or the year after.

Scientists cheer as protons complete first circuit of Large Hadron Collider

The biggest and most expensive civilian experiment in the history of science is finally underway.

At 9.28am UK time, the control room at the CERN laboratory erupted into cheers and applause as a pair of dots on a computer screen showed that a beam of particles had successfully completed its first lap of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the £3.6 billion “Big Bang machine” that will open a new window on the Universe.

Titles for links to the Hadron Collider Experiments:

> Scientists switch on the Big Bang machine
> The second big bang
> ‘Big bang’ machine could help fight cancer.
> The BBC has Big Bang to rights.

The world and leading scientists state that the goal for all these experiments is to go back before the Big Bang, a wholly unproven theory, to prove that theory; but, Dr. Garrick insists that these experiments have nothing to do with the Big Bang. Who is right? The world news agencies and the leading scientists in the project or Dr. Garrick?

Why is this important? Just to silence Dr. Garrick or temper his massive ego? No! The reason I have posted articles on the Hardon Particle Collider is that this project is nothing more and nothing less than an attempt, at great expense, to disprove the existence of God, to undermine faith in the Bible and to elevate man to the Throne of god to satisfy the enormous egos of secular humanist scientists.

I have no expertise in these matters, I could not explain the smallest technical matter or scientific experiments involved; but I can read, I can understand when they talk about The Big Bang and The God Particle that this is a direct, frontal, scientific attack on Christianity and in favor of scientific atheism. By reading and watching and listening to television specials , I can understand that this is about The Big Bang, despite Dr. Garrick’s insistence that it is not!

LA Times Rebukes Gibson and ABC

L.A. Times rebukes ABC for distorting Palin remarks
Charlie Gibson misquotes governor, assuming she saw U.S. in ‘holy war’

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The Los Angeles Times was among the news outlets crying foul after ABC’s interview yesterday with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, her first since Sen. John McCain named her his running mate.

The Times took Charlie Gibson to task for distorting statements Palin made about the Iraq war at her former Assemblies of God church in Wasilla, Alaska.

A well-circulated video shows Palin asking the congregation to pray that the nation’s leaders would send troops to Iraq “on a task that is from God.” But Gibson, apparently getting his information from an Associated Press story, frames the question with the assumption Palin is contending the U.S. was sending troops to Iraq on a mission from God.

“Are we fighting a holy war?” Gibson asked.

Palin disputed the characterization, pointing out she was paraphrasing Abraham Lincoln, who said, “Let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God’s side.”

The Times said Gibson “went on to take a second part of her comments out of context. Palin had asked the group to pray ‘that there is a plan, and that plan is God’s plan.’”

But Gibson dropped her reference to praying, the Times said, and instead quoted Palin as saying the war was God’s plan.

He asked if she believed the country was sending her son on a task from God.

“I don’t know if the task is from God, Charlie,” she responded, adding that she was proud of Track for “serving something greater than himself.”

Gibson deliberately took Palin’s comments out of context for purely partisan purposes and so great was the offense that even the liberal LA Times had to defend Palin.

So much for the impartial image of Liberal Gibson.
