A 12-year-old girl is prohibited from bringing aspirin to California public schools without a note from her mother or father – but in many California districts she may sign herself out of classes, leave her junior-high campus without parental permission, secretly have an abortion and return to school before the end of the day and her own family may be none the wiser.

Parents and educators across the state have been in heated debate over school policies allowing children to be excused during class time without parental notification for “confidential medical services” such as abortions, birth control, and drug and mental health services.

They were debating changing the current policy to reflect school administrators’ interpretation of California Education Code 4601.1, which states:

Commencing in the fall of the 1986-87 academic year, the governing board of each school district shall, each academic year, notify pupils in grades 7 to 12, inclusive, and the parents or guardians of all pupils enrolled in the districts, that school authorities may excuse any pupil from the school for the purpose of obtaining confidential medical services without the consent of the pupil’s parent or guardian.

Pacific Justice Institute staff attorney Matt McReynolds told WND the statute is ambiguous and only says the districts may dismiss students, not that they are required to do so.

“If you use general principles of statutory construction, as we lawyers do in interpreting these things, ‘may’ is very different than ‘must,’” he said. “It doesn’t say they must dismiss them, which is how the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and the National Youth Law Center interpret it. It is a district-by-district decision on whether they will tell parents.”

“They can’t drive themselves anywhere, so some adult or somebody with a driver’s license would have to get them to those so-called ‘confidential’ medical appointments that aren’t so ‘confidential’ after all when you really think about it,” he said. “You’re talking about an older boyfriend, a boyfriend’s parents, maybe even a school official? Somebody has to get them there [and back] when they’re that young.”

McReynolds argues that hiding medical issues from parents may endanger the health and well being of a child [But the students belongs to the State and apparently that is none of the parents business].

”A parent who is 100 percent legally and morally responsible for taking care of their minor child may have no real ability to do so if they don’t know that their child just had a major medical procedure,” he said. “Or in the case of counseling, they may have no idea their child is dealing with substance abuse or suicidal thoughts or any number of other things.”

First, I don’t think schools should be in the business of facilitating abortions, especially for minors. They should NOT be in the business of deceiving parents - ever.

In California confidentiality is so bad that even teachers being told by other teachers about life threatening problems of a child can face criminal charges.

I also must ask if this 12-year-old gets an abortion with the help of the school and without parental consent, if there are medical or mental complications following the abortion, who pays these costs? Why the parent, they never approved of the procedure? Then who? Well, probably old sucker taxpayers, making us accomplices to the abortion.

Some see this speech as heralding a Revived Roman Empire that will rule the world. Well, IMO you cannot take this quite speech that far yet, but there are certainly causes for some real concern that a one-world government built on the backs of the world economic crisis, the desire to move away from the dollar on international markets, the Global Warming legislation that will require some sort of international body to enforce laws on every nation - supposedly good for every one, could create such a system and that in not many years from now.

California’s Unemployment Rates rose to 12.5 percent in October to set another modern record, even though more than 25,000 Californians found jobs, the state Employment Development Department reported Friday.

October’s job gains followed 66,000 job losses the month before.

Stephen Levy, senior economist at the Palo Alto-based Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy, [Talk about a grasp of the super-obvious>] said larger job gains are needed to lower the unemployment rate.

“The best we can say is that like the nation, the magnitude of job losses seem to be declining,” Levy said. “This is not a sign that the jobs losses have ended.”

The state has lost 687,700 jobs since October 2008, a decline of about 4.6 percent, according to the state’s survey of 42,000 California businesses.

Nearly 2.3 million Californians were without work in October. The number does not include the nearly 500,000 workers who have taken low-paying or part-time jobs because that’s all they could find, or the 109,000 people who have given up looking for work, according to the state.

A 5-year-old North Carolina girl was raped and killed the same day she was taken from her home, according to an arrest warrant released Friday.

Shaniya Davis was sexually assaulted and asphyxiated Nov. 10, the day her mother reported her missing from the trailer park where she was staying, according to the warrant. Authorities embarked on a nearly weeklong search that ended when the girl’s body was found dumped off a rural road.

Mario McNeill is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape of a child in the warrant, which was issued after police said they collected hair and fibers, clothes, and a straw from his 1997 Mitsubishi Galant. He was initially charged only with kidnapping.

The girl’s mother, Antoinette Davis, is charged with filing a false police report, trafficking her daughter and child abuse involving prostitution. Her family members have said they do not believe the charges.

Why, if they have any evidence that the mother sold this child into prostitution would they not charge her with being an accomplice to all of the perpetrator’s crimes. Shouldn’t she face murder charges as well?

This is so typical of governmental overreaction and their wanting to legislate in a manner designed to eliminate all risks and all negative consequences in life. The case: One volunteer answering these letters was discovered to be a sex offender, but he never had an opportunity to answer even one letter; but by golly that means it is better to close the whole thing down and computerize Santa’s personal answers to letters from children.

For 55 years, the tiny Alaskan town of North Pole has been diligently answering a deluge of letters addressed to Santa Claus.


But the tradition has come to an abrupt halt after strict new anti-pedophile rules effectively closed down the town’s festive service.

Hundreds of letters which have already arrived from eager children across the States may now be recycled.

The US Postal Service canceled its Operation Santa program which answers 150,000 children’s letter every year, after a volunteer was unmasked as a sex offender.

He was sacked before he could answer any letters, but the incident in Maryland sparked a nationwide clampdown.

Operation Santa had relied on thousands of volunteers to open the post and respond on behalf of Father Christmas, identifying themselves as the his elves and helpers.

These will now be replaced by a computerised system - blocking individuals access to children’s names and addresses.

However, the post office which serves North Pole, near the city of Fairbanks, simply cannot deal with editing out the names and replacing them with codes.

North Pole residents are likening the Postal Service to the Grinch trying to steal Christmas.

A firefighter says he is in hot water with his department after his supervisors noticed his anti-Obama bumper stickers and banned him from parking inside the firehouse based on his political views.

“It’s freedom of speech as far as I’m concerned,” Hartford, Conn., firefighter Mike Di’Giacomo told WFSB-TV. “This is my personal vehicle.”

It seems to me that as a matter of Free Speech and equal protection under the law, either all bumper type stickers should be banned, which I would find odd to ban free political speech on public property; or, if they allow let us say the Pink Ribbons for Breast Cancer Awareness, they must allow all stickers that they do not contain any calls for violence or advocate a crime.

By the way, I love the first sticker!

Homosexual activists and their liberal allies have thus far been able to sway public opinion anywhere, based on the merits, to gain voter support to change the definition of marriage. In every state (few) where it has been approved it was forced upon the people by the judiciary or legislature. Now in DC the Board of Elections have refused to allow the people the right to vote on this critical issue.

A lawsuit has been filed in Washington, D.C., challenging a decision by the city’s Board of Elections and Ethics not to allow citizens to vote on the definition of marriage, as had been proposed by an initiative.

“The people of D.C. have a right to vote on the definition of marriage,” said Austin Nimocks, a senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund. “The D.C. Charter guarantees the people the right to vote, and the council cannot amend the charter for any reason, much less to deny citizens the right to vote.”

Such a vote already has taken place in 31 states, and 31 times voters have approved the biblical one-man-and-one-woman definition for marriage. Most recently, after voters in Maine came to that conclusion, churches whose leaders had supported the biblical definition became targets of homosexual activists.

The D.C. board decided this week an initiative to uphold or reject the traditional definition of marriage would not be put to voters. The board suggested the proposal authorizes “discrimination” that is banned by its own Human Rights Act.

But the ADF said no act unrelated to expenditures passed by the D.C. Council can preclude the right of the citizens to vote as guaranteed by the D.C. Charter, which serves as a constitution for the federally managed enclave.

”The people of the district have the same right as the D.C. Council to propose legislation on any subject not related to appropriations,” said Cleta Mitchell, counsel to Stand for Marriage DC, a proponent of the Marriage Initiative of 2009.

Even those who have no problem with gay marriage have said it should be up to the states, but I doubt they meant the voters in those states should have no voice in the matter. Yet, time after time the voters are being denied their rights on this issue.

Reuters made some erroneous characterizations in this story about Dobb’s, showing their partisanship. Nonetheless, I sincerely doubt Dobb’s has a political future, outside something local perhaps.

A week after abruptly quitting his longtime job as a CNN television news host and commentator, Lou Dobbs said on Thursday he is considering career options including possible runs for the White House or U.S. Senate.

“Right now I feel exhilaration at the wide range of choices before me as to what I do next,” Dobbs, whose outspoken views on immigration and other topics often angered liberals, told Reuters in a telephone interview from New York on Thursday.

Dobbs, 64, a veteran CNN anchor who had become one of the most divisive figures in U.S. broadcast journalism, announced last Wednesday he was leaving CNN after spending the better part of 30 years at the 24-hour cable news network.

He still hosts a daily radio show.

A Texas native, Dobbs has drawn fire from Latino leaders and civil rights groups for frequent on-air remarks about U.S. border control and immigration that critics saw as demonizing illegal immigrants.

He was also seen as lending credence to the “birther” conspiracy theory, whose adherents believe President Barack Obama’s Hawaiian birth certificate was faked to hide a Kenyan birthplace that would make the first black U.S. president ineligible for his office.

While I agree with Dobb’s mostly about illegal aliens and while I am no ‘birther” which is a liberal pejorative and not an accurate label, I also am not pleased that a man running for POTUS and holding that office is not more forthcoming about all the necessary documents to silence such genuine Constitutional concerns.

Nevertheless, it seems to me that his position on aliens alone would kill national political office ambitions. Surely, to be outspoken in favor of the Truth will win him few friends. Lastly, his age is getting close to being prohibitive.

Setting up a historic year-end health care debate, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid unveiled long-awaited legislation Wednesday night to extend coverage to all but 6 percent of eligible Americans and bar private industry from denying insurance because of pre-existing medical conditions.

The Democrat’s $849 billion measure is designed to remake the nation’s health care system, relying on cuts in future Medicare spending to cover costs — as well as on higher payroll taxes for the well-to-do and a new levy on patients undergoing elective cosmetic surgery.

Aides said the mammoth, 2,074-page bill would reduce deficits by $127 billion over a decade and by as much as $650 billion in the 10 years that follow, citing as-yet-unreleased estimates by the Congressional Budget Office.

What really irks me is that they are projecting $777 Billion in Savings in 20 years. How can they know that for sure? They are making guesses and not even educated guesses, it is all pie in the sky.

Each election year they will change their projections to help them get elected, while each year none of these savings will occur at all. I am also willing to bet the family farm the actual costs will be several times these projections and so even if they made these savings, we’ll still be saddling our children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren with back breaking debt.

U.S. President Barack Obama took time out of his busy diplomatic schedule in China to meet with his half-brother, who lives in the southern part of the country—but only for five minutes.

In an interview with CNN, Obama said he didn’t know his half-brother very well, but he did not feel Ndesandjo was betraying private family details in his book.

“It’s no secret that my father was a troubled person. Anybody who’s read my first book, ‘Dreams from My Father’, knows that, you know, he had an alcoholism problem and that he didn’t treat his families very well,” the president said.

They criticised draft guidance that will effectively ban the drug sorafenib - which is routinely used in every other country where it is licensed.

Trials show the drug, which costs £36,000 a year, can increase survival by around six months for patients who have run out of options.

Nice rates the cost-effectiveness of a drug using a complicated measurement called a ‘quality adjusted life year’ or QALY.

This determines the cost of new treatment by working out how much it improves and extends a life compared with existing treatments.

Andrew Dillon, chief executive of Nice, said: ‘We have recently changed our approach to appraising high cost treatments which can extend life for terminally ill patients.

I further believe it will morph into other programs that will determine whether or not people should be allowed to die because they are a drain on the system and of no value to society to keep alive.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t say what his plans are when his term expires next year, but it won’t be running for another office.

“I have never labeled myself as a politician, so I am not going to run for anything else,” Schwarzenegger told reporters on Tuesday.

He has so screwed California that I doubt he would dare run for another office and since we did not amend the Constitution for him, POTUS is out! Maybe he’ll run for President of Austria!

Che Guevara supporters with a radical pro-amnesty coalition viciously attacked and bludgeoned tea party protesters at a Florida anti-illegal-immigration rally, including a 62-year-old man who was beaten and kicked in the face.

ANSWER members carried Che Guevara signs and other black and yellow placards that stated “Full rights for all immigrants.” They shouted, “Amnesty yes, racists no!”

As the two men attempted to film the protest, an ANSWER member in a black tanktop and blue jeans lunged after one of the cameramen and beat him with a sign, pushing him into traffic. Another ANSWER member in a white T-shirt attacked the same cameraman while the victim defended himself with what appears to be a camera tripod.

A female tea party protester began screaming as Dave Caulkett of Floridians for Immigration Enforcement and the initial ANSWER attacker fought in the middle of the street.

NEW YORK – President Barack Obama will give an interview to Fox News Channel’s Major Garrett, perhaps signaling a thaw in relations between the network and administration.

The White House confirmed today that Garrett will be included among a round of network interviews that the president is giving tomorrow in Beijing. Garrett also posted news of the interview on Twitter.

Fox and the administration have been in a public fight since former White House communications director Anita Dunn said the network acted like the research or communications arm of the Republican Party. The president pointedly avoided Fox when he gave a round of interviews to Sunday shows about his health care plan.

Garrett, Fox’s senior White House correspondent and a CNN reporter before moving to Fox, will have 10 minutes with the president. Other network correspondents traveling with the president — Chip Reid of CBS, Chuck Todd of NBC and Ed Henry of CNN — will also get interviews. ABC gave up its slot when Jake Tapper spoke to Obama earlier.

It’s the first time Obama has spoken specifically to a Fox correspondent since he talked with Garrett in July. Obama gave one other interview to Fox as president, to Sunday morning host Chris Wallace in February.

The White House was annoyed by Fox’s aggressive coverage of protests against the president’s health care plan over the summer. Dunn’s comment that Fox is “more of a wing of the Republican Party” brought the administration’s displeasure into focus.

The falsely called Palestinians ‘demand” Israel stop construction of Israeli homes in Jerusalem or no peace negotiations. Obama, the U.N. and anti-Semitic Britain agree.

Israel triggered a fresh rift with Washington over settlement building on Tuesday by approving the building of 900 homes for Jews on West Bank land it occupied in a 1967 war and annexed to its Jerusalem municipality.

The Israeli decision drew an unusually sharply worded rebuke from the White House, which said it was “dismayed” and accused Israel of undermining Obama’s efforts to resume peace talks with Palestinians stalled since December.

“At a time when we are working to relaunch negotiations, these actions make it more difficult for our efforts to succeed,” White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said.

In his statement, Gibbs also said the United States objected to continued evictions and demolitions of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem.

Israel rejects the international description of Gilo as a settlement and says it is a neighborhood of Jerusalem, the city it claims as its capital.

Some 500,000 Jews live in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, also captured in 1967, among 2.7 million Palestinians.

Israel annexed East Jerusalem after the 1967 war, a move that was not recognized internationally. Palestinians want East Jerusalem to be the capital of a state they hope to establish in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

“Jerusalem is Israel’s capital and will remain as such,” he said, stating an Israeli position not recognized by world powers.

Obama is pressing for a resumption of peace talks and has asked Israel to show restraint on settlements while seeking to persuade Abbas to resume negotiations without a total freeze on the construction.

Netanyahu has offered a temporary restriction on building projects, but Abbas has rejected this as insufficient, both in scale and because it does not include areas Israel annexed to Jerusalem.

Palestinian officials asked the United Nations and the European Union earlier this week to consider whether they might at some point endorse the framework of a Palestinian state without a negotiated solution to the conflict with Israel.

The Palestinians are now trying get the U.N. to declare a Palestinian State with pre-1967 borders and force Israel to agree. I do not believe Israel will ever again surrender one-inch of their 4000+ year-old Capital of Jerusalem.
