Predictify

Via Stumbleupon, I found a website that…

...provides a simple, fun way to engage in current and future newsworthy topics. Users can find events that interest them, predict the outcome, build a reputation based on accuracy, and even get paid real money when they’re right! Best of all, it’s free – no points or bets required.

Going through the FIU archives will show you that a lot of what we think or predict doesn’t happen.  This site seems to be a cool way to track your predictions and even ask questions of your own to the general public.

Give it a gander and if you sign up, look for Hoodlumman as a friend.

We’ll see who’s more accurate once and for all!

Free Cash

No seriously.

Right here.

You don’t even have to be conservative to get it.  You just have to be funny.

I can read your mind!

David Blaine, eat your heart out.

I will now attempt, with success, to announce what you, the Say Anything reader did with 100% accuracy.

For this trick to work, you must follow the instructions very carefully - and you cannot cheat.

First, you must visit this website. WARNING: It isn’t 100% safe for work. There is no p0rn but the product allows you visually see the before/after, with/without effects with decently produced CGI. Nothing about the site will trigger Webp0rn protection software.

After visiting the website, scroll down this post.

Stop cheating and go visit. If you don’t want to take any chances then read this post from home later.

Fine, ruin the magic trick.

BEHOLD!! I know exactly what you did!

If you:

  • Are a woman, you realized what the product did and, based on your activity level, either explored the product advertising as interesting and left, or actually put their product to the consumer test - based on your measurements - and might consider their product had they not been a U.K.-based company.
  • Are a dude, upon realizing what you were looking at and giggling to yourself, you immediately selected the largest cup size and the largest level of activity and ran the simulation. After laughing some more, you emailed this to some friends. In that email the word “DUDE!!” appears at least once.
Physics! Catch the fever!

Have any examples to cite?

Graham, our sister blog proprietor, laments the lack of media standards and accuracy.

Amen, brother.

So head on over and help give more examples of this issue that should be confronted.

Let’s Take a Look Back

JRE @ Fileitunder:

Now lets think back to October… think back… come on way… back… almost there… OK, we’re in October 2006.  After buying lottery tickets, let’s remember the conspiracy theories about the falling gasoline and oil prices.  Remember theseAnd these?  This one on Al-jazzy is the best, stating that prices WILL RALLY after the mid-term elections.

Right now, in October 2006 President Bush is lowering oil and gasoline prices so people will be happy and vote for Republican Congressmen.  He is.  That’s what he does.

After the elections, we will see a drastic rise in oil prices.

OK, now let’s go back to January 12, 2007… come on… almost.... OK.  Today I see that NYMEX oil prices dropped to $51.88 per barrel (bbl).  You can click that link and see the graph of historic prices over the last year.

Notice how it peaks in August or early September 2006 and then falls?  That’s Bush lowering the oil and gas prices and then raising them back up.

Oh wait, you mean they’ve continued to fall?  So maybe this was not a conspiracy at all?  Maybe oil prices are controlled by global economic factors?  Wow.

I question the pricing…

Atheists are dishonest, even to themselves

Rob B.:

This points me to the whole reason that I bring this up, Atheism has an extremely strong dishonest streak in it. By that I mean that atheists don’t normally honestly believe that there is no God. Atheists have a emotionally vested interest in saying that “there is no God.”

...

Likewise, have you noticed that atheists hate the Christian God. How many atheists do you ever see attacking the Bahi or Islam or the Native Americans or the scientologist? I can’t remember one time. I’m sure that there has to be, but let’s be honest, Atheism in the US is a anti-christian movement.

There is no free lunch

But an auction for dinner with LA Governor Kathlene Blanco sold for a whopping $1.00 on Monday.

Dinner with Blanco was the last item up for bid at the fundraising auction last week. Edmunds said the bidding opened at $1,000 and dropped to $500 before the auctioneer accepted a $1 bid from bank executive Malcolm Maddox, a regional chairman for Capital One.

I think they overpaid.

It turns out that the bidding was a prank of sorts and it would be funny if it wasn’t so believable that it could actually happen.

“She’s really not even paying attention to it right now,” Centanni said.

This is regarding the “prank” but could describe Blanco’s performance since about August of 2005.

A Christmas Message

From Rob B…

Let me crystallize this for you, with the best clarity that I can, in order to make my stance official for all of those readers that we have and the random person that stumbles across this: When I say that there is one God who had one son who is the only way into Heaven you might find that offensive but if you do that it is for what YOU are bringing to it. I say that to point you toward the path. Why you want to avoid, ignore or tear that down is something you bring with you. It doesn’t have a thing to do with me.

Tis the season for giving

Christmas Spirit, it’s my favorite.

December is by far my favorite month. The fact it’s my birth month actually has little to do with this. Since I was a kid, the focus of Christmas has drastically changed for me. It used to be about Santa and presents and long holidays. Now it’s about family, celebration and giving.

Christmas shopping, per say, isn’t my favorite. But I really enjoy bringing home gifts from a shopping excursion and wrapping them up for their recipients. Then I enjoy taunting them.

“I wonder what this is, hmmm? I bet it’s really cool. You wanna know doncha? Gotta wait.”

Good times.

So, FIU [and Say Anything] readers, what are the greatest gifts you’ve ever given or received. I’m not looking for sentimental stuff here (but it’s welcome, of course) just items you’ve given or received that left a lasting impression.

And what are some good gift ideas, in general, for significant others, family members, friends, etc?

BREAKING - Say Anything Implicated in Conspiracy to Oppress Blogger

Innocent Blogger Snuffed on Blogroll
Nov. 21, 2007

DALLAS, Texas - It was revealed mid-morning on Tuesday that Say Anything, a blog hosted by North Dakota resident Rob Port, was found oppressing linkage to fellow bloggers by propogating a glaring ommission of inclusion on a blog roll.

“You can clearly see that as of right now, there’s not a link to File It Under on SA’s blogroll.  If that’s not oppressive then nothing is,” said FIU owner Hoodlumman.

Made up web statistics show that approximately 0.004% of web traffic comes from links on blogrolls.  The other 99.996% come from more practiced methods.

Hey… It’s Friday… Take it easy

The weekend is just about here? So why get so worked up arguing with lefties/progressives or the trolls?

You know what I do when I need to relax and unwind?

I stare look at my favorite actress.

She’s below the jump - and it’s SFW by my standards but you can never be too careful.
