On Patriotism

“My kind of loyalty was loyalty to one’s country, not to… its office holders.” -Mark Twain

“Loyalty to the country always. Loyalty to the government when it deserves it.” -Mark Twain

“My loyalty to my party ends where my loyalty to the country begins.” -Manuel L. Quezon

“A man’s country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers, and woods, but it is a principle; and patriotism is loyalty to that principle.” -George William Curtis

Wealth Redistribution = Economic Freedom?

“… the Constitution allows for many things, but what it does not allow is the most revealing. The so-called Founders did not allow for economic freedom. While political freedom is supposedly a cornerstone of the document, the distribution of wealth is not even mentioned. While many believed that the new Constitution gave them liberty, it instead fitted them with the shackles of hypocrisy.”

-Barack Obama

Oh but that was his college years right?

Libel?

I’ve noticed how much liberals like to throw around accusations of racism. Case in point: Hannitized, who ever since Obamacare began to sink, appears to have gone into meltdown, has been making a serious effort to educate SAB visitors and bloggers on just what racism is.  In so doing, Hannitized has labeled myself and my comments as racist—over and over.  I’ve underlined Hannitized’s libelous words and emphasized my own in bold to point out what appears to me to be a blatant attempt to mischaracterize me.  Even though many of the words Hannitized attributes to me appear nowhere in my comments, and even though I made direct statements to the contrary, Hannitized maliciously insists otherwise.  I’m wondering if any of you lawyers on this site could comment.

From another thread:

HG:
What pisses me off about this award is the ‘affirmative action’ element of the award. Forget that he hasn’t accomplished anything resembling peace and just give the guy the award for being the first black president to be elected who eloquently speaks of peace. There are plenty of black Americans who have actual accomplishments worthy of celebration and public notariaty. This award is slap in the face. We are Americans, all of us, whether black, brown, yellow, or white. We accomplish whatever we set our hands and mind to and there are plenty of examples to point to without resorting to this sort of pathetic political patronizing.

Hannitized:
“Glad to see you agree affirmative action is racism.”

HG, i said racial, not racism.

But what is it that causes you to assume a Black man can not achieve things with out it being tied to affirmative action?

Answer: Racism.

You can’t even keep up man.

HG:
H,

You’re clueless, boy. Given my comments on this thread it is clear that I am of the persuasion that anyone can accomplish anything regardless of skin color. Try and keep up H.

Hannitized:
Hahaha. HG, using the word boy doesn’t make your racism any less obvious, trust me.

You said this award was based on affirmative action, and that is saying Obama couldn’t have achieved this without being black and with merit.

That’s racism friend.

HG:
That’s ridiculous, but that’s Hannitized.

He didn’t achieve it H, that’s the point. Whether or not Obama could have isn’t even in the context of this award.

Hannitized:
Saying he didn’t achieve it is one thing. Saying he achieved it because he is black…..well…..that’s another.

HG:
I’m trying to help you out here H.

Obama didn’t achieve the Nobel prize, he was awarded it without merit. I am of the opinion that his historic election as the first black president played a role in the decision to award him this prize. I don’t think it a stretch in the least to say Obama’s race played a role in this decision.

When a black college student gains admission to a college in the place of a higher achieving student of a different race, that’s affirmative action. That’s racism.

Pointing out racism isn’t racist, nor does it mean that I think black Americans cannot achieve what Americans of a different race can.

Hannitized:

Claiming Obama didn’t get the award for his accomplishment of setting a new US foreign policy tone, that is opposite of George Bush’s, because of his skin color…...is essentially you saying that he isn’t good enough to deserve it, and he only got it because he is inferior and need a leg up on the white man, who is superior…....is racist.

HG:
H, you’re a mess, boy. You have grossly mischaracterized my words by ignoring much of what I said and the context in which I said it. But everyone reading my comments, other than yourself, can see that.

On another thread:

Hannitized:

And racial discrimination is not a sign of racism, unless the is based upon a person believing one race is superior to the other. Sort of like when HG claimed Obama wasn’t good enough to have earned a prize, and that only whites who are superior awarded him the prize out of guilt of being superior, to get a leg up on the whites.

ACORN Voter Fraud…  No Really!

Arrest warrants have been issued in Miami for 11 people suspected of falsifying information on hundreds of voter registration cards—including registering the name of the late actor Paul Newman—the Florida state attorney told FOXNews.com.

The FBI and state authorities took seven people into custody Wednesday as it issued 11 arrest warrants for voter registration fraud in Homestead, Fla., in June 2008.

Florida state attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle said 11 workers hired to register voters by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now—or ACORN—submitted 888 fraudulent names.  She said the names included people who were already registered voters, fictitious names, and the name of the late actor Paul Newman, who died in Sept. 2008.

Bipartisanship, Chicago Democrat Style

Boehner: GOP leaders haven’t met Obama for health talks since April
By Molly K. Hooper - 09/09/09 11:09 AM ET
The ball is in President Obama’s court to reach out to Republicans if he wants a bipartisan bill on healthcare reform, House GOP Leader John Boehner (Ohio) said Monday morning.

Boehner told reporters that the president has not invited House GOP leaders to the White House for meetings on healthcare reform since the end of April.

Earlier this year, GOP leaders sent a letter to the president in May stating that they would like to work with the administration to find “common ground” on healthcare reform.

But the administration responded with a tersely worded letter indicating that they had healthcare reform under control.

If not mistaken, didn’t the house refuse to allow republican input on Obamacare?  Whether or not, our President’s calls for bipartisanship and his noble claims of blindness to party politics are grossly contradicted by his own resistance to anything resembling his own words.

On another note, why bother hitching the republican party to this unpopular and anti-freedom legislation?  Let the dems sink with it.

Socialized Medicine Fixes Nothing

So let’s get this straight. The President’s socialized medicine will control costs by empowering bureaucrats to make decisions regarding the appropriate and necessary treatment, decisions currently left the the patient and doctor.  Also, in lieu of necessary treatment a panel of professional empowered and exalted to the status of grim reeper will approve and make available “end of life counseling” based on whatever arbitrary criteria they can imagine.  This too, to save costs.  And costs not to the individual, but to the collective.

Decisions about the medical treatment of an individual will no longer be made from an emphasis on the patient, but on the collective and the costs to the collective.  So if Grandma is deemed to old to spend the collective’s money on, end of life counseling will be the treatment.

This is sick.  So it’s costing us too much for patients and doctors to have the final say about the patients treatment so we’ll elimnate the costs by rationing care for the good of the collective.  This proposal is so open to greedy politicians and corruption it is maddening.

You libs are some sick bastards.

Check this out.

Health Care Costs are Bankrupting the Economy

Congress passed under the guise of economic “stimulus” have set taxpayers up for a year in which federal spending has reached a record 28.5 percent of GDP.

Compare that to the “crisis” manufactured by liberals over the cost of healthcare reaching 15%+ of GDP, and the cost of government could be said to be ‘catastrophic’.

At the very least we should be hearing cries for reform.  Legislation should be pushed through in only a few weeks to correct the “rising costs of government” that is “bankrupting” our economy, right?  Nope.  Instead we are told we need a government even larger and more intrusive to “fix” things.  Apparantly private sector spending to the tune of 15%+ of GDP can “bankrupt” our economy, while the government can confiscate 28.5% and it’s not only is harmless, but actually benefits the economy!

Liberalism… defying logic one cold hard fact at a time.

Intelligent Design Book Hits the Market

This looks to be a good read.  I expect the obvious intelligence evident in the formation of living things will be profoundly explained.  The information encoded in DNA and communicated to direct the formation of physical life is by definition ‘intelligence’.  In other words, we observe intelligence at work.  This intelligent design strongly implies an intelligent designer.

Just who is the intelligent designer is a matter of faith and will remain so in my opinion.  But that one exists is evident in the things we observe.

No Tax Increases with Robust Economic Growth

The President in an interview with Bloomberg at the White House said this:

“If we are growing at a robust rate, then we can pay for the government that we need without having to raise taxes.”

So if we are not “growing at a robust rate” then the President will raise taxes.  Exactly how will raising taxes on a less than “robust” economy contribute to a “robust” growth rate?

The “government that we need” doesn’t cost half of what our government spends.  This almost sounds threatning given the behavior of this administration towards private enterprise.

Keep it up Mr. President and the government we need will be the one that defeats you and your party’s nonsense in the next election.
