So much for hope and change.

What how can that be? I must say that I am shocked. I find it interesting that this report has even come to light since the the Obama mania media hangs on every word that comes out of OBAMA’s mouth. I can’t imagine that this would happen under the Messiah’s watch. I mean how dare they. (Yes this is dripping with sarcasm)

Exclusive: Lawyer says Guantanamo abuse worse since Obama
Wed Feb 25, 2009 By Luke Baker

LONDON (Reuters) - Abuse of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay has worsened sharply since President Barack Obama took office as prison guards “get their kicks in” before the camp is closed, according to a lawyer who represents detainees.

Abuses began to pick up in December after Obama was elected, human rights lawyer Ahmed Ghappour told Reuters. He cited beatings, the dislocation of limbs, spraying of pepper spray into closed cells, applying pepper spray to toilet paper and over-forcefeeding detainees who are on hunger strike.

The Pentagon said on Monday that it had received renewed reports of prisoner abuse during a recent review of conditions at Guantanamo, but had concluded that all prisoners were being kept in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.

“According to my clients, there has been a ramping up in abuse since President Obama was inaugurated,” said Ghappour, a British-American lawyer with Reprieve, a legal charity that represents 31 detainees at Guantanamo.

Democrats want to limit free speech.

I don’t think these morons get it; this is another potential over stretch for the Left, right now they are fumbling and bumbling their stimulus package, which is more or less a march towards a Stalinist tyranny. All of this stuff the left is trying to sneak into the stimulas bill is disgusting. Now left is goiong trying to sneek some version of the fairness doctrine into law.

Every day we lose more of our liberties and we are racing towards a marxist state. Funny a lot of the other dictators like to limit the free press and radio stations. Hugo Chavez is probably proud of these attempts.

Free speech should not be infringed upon, so now the left wants to squash oppostion speech. Personally, if the democrats try to shove this legislation down the American public’s throats it will spend years in the courts before anything comes out of this.

WASHINGTON – Another Democratic U.S. senator has gone on record as supporting the reinstatement of the so-called “Fairness Doctrine,” adding, “I feel like that’s gonna happen.”

Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., told radio host and WND columnist Bill Press yesterday when asked about whether it was time to bring back the so-called “Fairness Doctrine”: “I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else – I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.”

Stabenow’s husband, Tom Athans, was executive vice president of the left-leaning talk radio network Air America. He left the network in 2006, when it filed for bankruptcy, and co-founded the TalkUSA Radio Network.

This sums it up well.

This is s pretty profound statement.

Is there anyone who still believes the Constitution was created to ensure each citizen has liberty and the ability to pursue happiness rather than a guarantee of happiness—and a retirement fund, health care, a job, an education, a house .

Don’t we have better things to do?

Now we have the legislature attempting to write bills that NDSU and UND play each year in football. Don’t these people have something better to do, your waisting out tax dollars arguing petty bills. Get back to work doing the people of North Dakota business. I believe this is an issue for the two schools to work on without interference from the state legislature. In the end I believe this bill will fail.

Bill would require NDSU and UND to play an annual football game
Kevin Fee Grand Forks Herald

The state is trying to get involved in the UND vs. North Dakota State rivalry.

Rep. Weezie Potter, D-Grand Forks, has introduced a bill in the North Dakota House that mandates that UND and NDSU play an annual football game.

The schools haven’t met since Oct. 18, 2003, when the Sioux defeated the Bison 28-21 in overtime in the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.

The stoppage of the rivalry, which began in 1894, was mostly due to NDSU moving its sports programs to NCAA Division I to start the 2004-05 school year. But UND joined the Bison in Division I this school year.

What about Norse?

With the Fighting Sioux logo debate up front and center with the dust up from the Summit league’s decision to not consider UND until the nickname issue is behind it.
As well all know this is should not be an issue because UND has to change their name/logo if the University can not get approval by both tribes. The issue is not going away and its time to consider the inevitable. Life without the Fighting Sioux nick name and logo. like I have said in the past the name is gone there is no way we can fight off political correctness gone amuck. It is just a matter of time before the name is gone for good.

I an not happy with the fact that there will no longer be a Fighting Sioux name/logo connected to the University of North Dakota. I have made my feeling known, I am on record of being against this change, this is a train we can not stop. I like a lot of fans are tired of fighting the battle with the people in the pro-name change crowd. The cards are against us and we can not win.

Maybe it is time to consider some new names to replace the Fighting Sioux with. My suggestion is Norse. Why not? North Dakota and Minnesota have one of the biggest populations of people of Scandinavian decent in the USA.

Genoway for Hobey

The voting for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award has started fan voting on line. Sioux fans here is your chance to vote for Fighting Sioux defenseman Chay Genoway. I know there are a few people that are going to roll their eyes and say Chay isn’t a legitimate candidate but looking at the numbers I believe he is. Genoway is tied for 4th place in points nantionals with often mentioned Kurt Davis. Like the Habs fans I plan on stuffing the ballot box. No! I am not a fan of the Montreal Canadians.

Why is gas 1.74 in Grand Forks?

Here is a good question that was in the today’s opinion. Why is gas so high if the price for a barrel of oil is so low? Sounds like we are getting squeezed again by the Grand Forks, ND gas cartel. Heck gas is a lot cheaper in Fargo, ND and don’t believe the bravo sierra the Herald and other feed us about its more expensive to ship gas to Grand Forks than Fargo. In fact gas in on average 20 cents cheaper in Fargo than it is here.

I wonder if someone from Grand Forks can elighten us? I can hear the crickets chirping in the back ground. I have found when the price of gas is about the same price as Devils Lake, ND that we are being squeezed.

GRAND FORKS — Gas prices in Grand Forks have gone from $1.64 to $1.74 over the past week.

Meanwhile, crude oil prices have dropped by more than $15 a barrel to less than $40 a barrel.

I think the fuel retailers in Grand Forks are greedier than the money mongers on Wall Street. Grand Forks fuel prices appear to be higher than the prices in any town in the area. Shame, shame, shame.

Vice President Dick Cheney B*tch slaps Biden.

I was reading this article and I like how basically Cheney showed how irrelevant Joe Biden really is. Not that most of us didn’t that already that Biden is an intellectual midget. Also, it was basically announced that Biden has basically has been told to sit there and look stupid in his job as vice president and look stupid he will.

This interview just prove my point that Joe "Plugs" Biden is going to do a good job as a do nothing VP. Just sit there and look Stupid Joe. Of course every once in a while just say something stupid so we know that your still there. The guy is a gaffe a minute.

Vice President Cheney mocked Vice President-elect Joe Biden’s grasp of the Constitution, defended former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and said President Bush “doesn’t have to check with anybody” before launching a nuclear attack.

In a blunt, unapologetic interview on “FOX News Sunday,” Cheney fired back at Biden for declaring in October that “Vice President Cheney has been the most dangerous vice president we’ve had probably in American history.”

“He also said that all the powers and responsibilities of the executive branch are laid out in Article I of the Constitution,” Cheney said in a interview that was conducted on Friday. “Well, they’re not. Article I of the Constitution is the one on the legislative branch.” (read the whole article here)

Here is the part that I like the most from this article. Most of us on the right have written off Biden a long time ago.

“Joe’s been chairman of the Judiciary Committee, a member of the Judiciary Committee in the Senate for 36 years, teaches constitutional law back in Delaware, and can’t keep straight which article of the Constitution provides for the legislature and which provides for the executive. So I think I’d write that off as campaign rhetoric. I don’t take it seriously.”

Rep. William Jefferson voted out of office in Louisiana.

This is good news for the Republicans. It will be interesting to see how the Liberal press spins this one. I guess the folks in Louisiana got tired of Jefferson’s antics and illegal activity.

AP— Political newcomer Anh “Joseph” Cao, a Republican, has beaten nine-term incumbent William Jefferson, a Democrat, in the 2nd Congressional District, dealing what may be a final blow to the congressman’s political career of nearly three decades.

With 100 percent of the district’s 492 precincts reporting, Cao, a Venetian Isles attorney who has enjoyed strong backing from local and national GOP organizations, took 50 percent, compared to 47 percent for Jefferson. Green Party candidate Malik Rahim wound up with nearly 3 percent, while Libertarian Gregory Kahn had less than 1 percent.

Cao made a victory speech at around 10:30 p.m. In a speech shortly thereafter, broadcast live on television, Jefferson blamed low turnout for his loss, saying he believes many of the African-American voters who make up his base ran out of “juice” and didn’t make it to the polls Saturday. He did not concede, however.

Franken looking at his options.

This almost as bad as the Florida debacle. Here is an option for Franken concede the race if you lost the recount. But I am sure Franken won’t do that he will try to get this tied up in the court until into 2009.

After absentee ballot loss, Franken eyes options
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota’s U.S. Senate showdown is veering down a path toward the courts and possibly the Senate itself after a panel’s ruling on rejected absentee ballots dealt a blow to Democrat Al Franken’s chances.

For the first time, his campaign on Wednesday openly discussed mounting challenges after the hand recount involving Franken and Republican Sen. Norm Coleman concludes. That includes the possibility of drawing the Senate into the fracas.

The state Canvassing Board denied Franken’s request to factor absentee ballots rejected by poll workers into the recount. He sought to overturn the exclusions in cases where ballots were invalidated over signature problems or other voter errors. Coleman’s campaign maintained the board lacked power to revisit those ballots.

Schumer Americans to be on the hook for 700 billion more.

What the hell is wrong with these people? We haven't even finished handing out the first 700 billion and now these congressional leaders/morons want us to hand out 700 billion more. How the hell are we going to pay for this? Why should we pay for this?

Schumer advocates $700 billion plan

By Klaus Marre

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said an economic recovery plan would have to cost $500 to $700 billion in order to be effective.

Noting that the economy is in “serious, serious trouble,” Schumer said on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” that a recovery plan would need to be “pretty big.”

A few comical pictures.

Wait till the NOBAMA cheering mainstream media and the millions of people that voted for him find out that he isn’t the Messiah, he can’t part the oceans, feed millions and pay peoples mortgages and car payments, (like the one moron that supports NOBAMA said the other day). There are going to be a lot of people that are goin to be disappointed.

This picture is a perfect illustration of liberalism in America, they love spending other peoples hard earned money but don’t like to spend their own…

The ONLY positive of the NOBAMA victory.

Washington Compost picture
The last time the Fighting Sioux won an NCAA titles there was a Democratic president in the White House. In fact when the Sioux won their 6th and 7th NCAA title while William Jefferson Clinton was president of the United States of America.

The Republican party has been less kind to the Fighting Sioux, who went 0-5 with George W. Bush in the White House; 2001, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
