Earl Pomeroy: “Blue Dog” Democrat?  No, “Lap Dog” fits better

Lots of links, but I’m sorry I don’t have time to translate them all before I get ready for work.  My blog uses a different format than this one and I don’t have time to change ‘em.  Anyway, the original article and links can be found on BismarckMandanBlog.com by clicking here.

ND Dem-NPL doesn’t want what’s best for North Dakotans

“At the end of the day I think that the Senators are going to do what they feel is best for North Dakota and sometimes that doesn`t jive with what folks in the party want, but you know how it works,” says Joe Aronson, of the Democratic NPL of North Dakota.

Interesting that they’d actually admit it for once.

I wonder if this is the kind of thing we can expect from the ND Heritate Area folks?

Wrongdoing, illegal lobbying, and inappropriate relationships with advocacy groups.  Yep, sounds like just the kind of thing we can expect from Potter’s latest pet project.  The government is investigating such conduct from BLM employees and advocacy groups.  Link

Heck, the NDHA folks have already committed the illegal lobbying part!

AP posts misleading report about Heritage Area

In the article “Land designation raises ire of ND property owners” (which is just a repost of an AP article), Tracy Potter is given cover by the media, including KXMB as they dutifully repeat this slanted take on the issue:

“Critics of the idea say it could open up more federal regulation of their land. But Potter says the legislation is written to prevent that from happening.”

According to this post from Rob quoting a Tribune article, Potter and Dorgan are claiming an opt-out possibility now exists.  The law needs to be checked to verify that, of course, but it looks like they were forced to put back in a provision that’s typically left in Heritage Area designations.  From what I’ve read, that provision was conspicuously removed from the North Dakota bill.

We couldn’t get the mainstream media to touch this story with a ten foot pole, but now that there’s an excuse for Potter and Dorgan, it looks like they’re willing to report it as a means of giving them cover on an issue that has a lot of people very angry with the two prominent liberal Democrats.

A tribute to our military families on Memorial Day

I put together a little video tribute for Memorial Day late last night. I was moved to do so by something President Obama said in his speech at the Arizona State University commencement this year:

”...we’ve become accustomed to the term ‘military superpower’... forgetting about the qualities that got us there. Not just the power of our weapons, but the discipline, and valor, and the code of conduct of our men and women in uniform.”

At first I was really bent at the way this radical leftist spoke. I interpreted his words as meaning that the military had forgotten those qualities! What an awful thing to say! However, in the spirit of letting my temper cool down before going at it, I took another listen and decided to give the President the benefit of the doubt.

I looked at his words in a different light. In this context I took it to mean that, among the other things he denigrated his own nation for, the American people have forgotten the qualities of our heroic military men and women. That’s still a slap in the face to America, albeit a somewhat less offensive one to our soldiers and their loved ones. And, I figured, something that’s quite far from the truth…

Bismarck sports shining example of a “government fix”

I noticed this stunning piece of work at least a year ago in the federal building on 3rd and Rosser.  Every time I walk past it I consider taking a photo and remarking on it.  Naturally people with cameras taking pictures in or around the federal building make feds nervous these days, but I saw no harm in pulling out the cell phone camera for this one…

Socialized medicine drones working local phones…and some truths about “free health care”

This weekend I got a call from an activist pushing “health care reform” from phone number 701-255-2346.  A few minutes of backtracking told me that it’s a personal residential number as well as the owner’s name and address, but I’m not going to post that information.  In any case, the call went something like this:

FBI spied on Americans at the various TEA Parties

I only got back to town for the last 15 minutes of the Bismarck rally, but I did attend.  I noticed that the “cops” were not Bismarck PD.  I also noticed that a few of the parking spots in front of the doors were occupied by blacked-out Ford Expeditions and the like, with Montana plates and an amazing knack to not get ticketed for violating the 10 minute parking zone.

I’m not part of the black helicopter, tinfoil hat crowd.  Since the Bismarck rally was held in front of a federal building housing various courts, one would expect some heightened security.  I just find it interesting that another one of those sinister “memos” went out treating American citizens as a bigger threat than hardened terrorists.

Six Biblical Steps to an Obama Nation

Many are alarmed with the speed and blindness with which our nation is veering toward a leftist, socialist predicament at the hand of President Obama and his willing accomplices in the Congress. It’s nothing new, folks. It’s actually (like everything else the left has been trying for forty years) a page out of a very old playbook. I refer you to Genesis chapter 47, where we can walk through the process step by step in the situation with ancient Egypt:
