Good News, Bad News for Gays

The news is good and bad lately for the homosexual community.  Unfortunately for most of us, it is mostly good.

Good Gay News:  On Wednesday, a California State Senate committee voted 6-2 to designate May 22 as “Harvey Milk Day,” with 6 Dems voting in favor and 2 Republicans voting nay.

Randy Thomasson of SaveCalifornia.com called the “Gay Day Bill” one of the worst bills in the history of California” while gays lauded it as one of the greatest things since the American Psychiatric Association stopped referring to homosexuality a mental aberration.

Thomasson went on to say, “If signed into law, SB 572 will mean an official day commemorating homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality in California government schools, without parental permission.”  He added that the bill would “encourage public schools to positively portray to children any and all facets of homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality, and anything else that’s ‘in the closet.’ ” (http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=47785)

The bill would mesh very nicely with a bill before the U.S. Senate that would make violations of the rights of pedophiles and 546 other lovers of perversion federal “hate crimes:” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=995.

(See below for bad news about Harvey Milk and Milk. )

More good gay vibes came from none other than 16 year old Miley (Hannah Montana) Cyrus   who profoundly twittered on Twitter an apologia to Perez Hilton.  Perez is the flamer who ripped into Miss California, Carrie Prejean, calling her ”a dumb bitch” and almost loosing the C-word because Prejean had dared to articulate her Christian view in favor of normal marriage: http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=975.

Summoning all the wisdom that God bestows on teenagers, Miley twittered, ”God’s greatest commandment is to love, and judging is not loving. That’s why Christians have such a bad rep. Jesus loves you and your partner and wants you to know how much he cares! That’s like a daddy not loving his lil boy cuz he’s gay and that is wrong and very sad! Like I said everyone deserves to be happy. I am a Christian and I love you - gay or not. Because you are no different that [sic] anyone else! We are all God’s children!”

Miley Cyrus seems like a sweetie but then again I thought Britney was a sweetie.  So, what do I know?  Well, I know gays would appreciate Miley’s take on theology, as would Perez, one of Miley’s version of ”God’s children.”

Bad Gay News:  In a rare smattering of bad news for our gay brethren, House Speaker Nancy “Wild-Eyes” Pelosi   has announced that Congress is so darn busy with other momentous issues that same-sex marriage legislation is not a congressional priority.

What with that hate-crime legislation in the works and the fact that New England states, plus Iowa, have been leading the charge to placate homosexuals with legalizing unnatural marriages, Speaker Wild Eyes is in no rush.

Nancy well knows that gays . . .

Quickies

STORIES THAT TICKLED MY FANCY

Nice work if you can get it:  The Los Angeles Unified School District is hurting for money and is laying off teachers yet pays some 160 “employed” teachers to do nothing because of union agreements.  Awaiting disposition of various misconduct charges ranging from “sexual contact with students, harassment, theft or drug possession . . . they collect about $10 million in salaries per year — even as the district is contemplating widespread layoffs of teachers because of a financial shortfall.”  Two million dollars has already been expended in salary and legal fees on a single teacher.  And we thought the UAW has it good! (http://www.latimes.com/news/la-me-teachers6-2009may06,0,6604006.story?track=rss)

Mahmoud and Bashar and Barack:  Iranian President Ahmadinejad   and Syrian President Assad had a little conference after which “Ahmadinejad boasted that ‘those who one day called Iran and Syria part of the axis of evil now want to develop relations with Iran and Syria.  Circumstances are changing rapidly in our favor. . . We are on the road to victory.’ ”  I do believe Mahmoud was referring to George W. Bush and his administration as “those.”  I also believe congratulations should immediately be extended to Barack Obama for dissolving that axis of evil after barely 100 days in office.  Great victory, Mr. President!  What’s next?  Ending blizzards and hurricanes? (http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=47702)

Mighty Oaks from Little Acorns Grow:  One particular, mighty rotten little ACORN is making news again.  Rumors are afoot that Arthur Sulzberger, Chairman of the soon-to-be-defunct New York Times, is still playing his favorite game of Hide All the News That Doesn’t Fit.  It seems . . .

FNC, Tea Parties, Taxes and CNN

Intertwined: FNC, Tea Parties, Taxes. and CNN
Okay, for the record and lest there be any doubts as to my motivations, affiliations, alienations, sublimations, etc., I hereby issue a disclaimer:  I am not now nor have I ever been a journalist nor am I a buddy of Rupert Murdoch nor do I own stock in any Murdoch enterprises, as far as I know.

That said, let’s get real about the constant bashing of FNC, the Fox News Channel, which is (not arguably) the only politically-objective network available on television.  As opposed to the former Clinton News Network, CNN, effectively now the Obama News Network and Ted Turner’s fellow travelers, FNC actually does report and lets its viewers decide.

Sure, FNC has right-of-center leanings but nowhere approaching the left-of-center commitments of CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and, as opposed to those “news” networks, FNC features a slew of leftist thinkers and commentators.  Try searching for conservatives on the other networks and you would be pushing daisies before you discover more than a handful.

Sure, Fox has the “notorious” Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, and Neil Cavuto but it also features lefty notables Geraldo, Juan Williams, Ellis Hennican, Eleanor Clift, Bob Beckel, Susan Estrich, Neil Gabler, Susan Estrich, Alan Colmes, until his departure, and a load of others as balancing guests and commentators.

Fox is as fair and balanced as feasible in a news world significantly, liberally, unfair and imbalanced.

Personally, as a news junkie, I try to catch the interpreted news on as many lib channels as possible, given time and interest restraints and as an effort to keep political enemies even closer than friends.  Such enemies are capable of doing much more damage to my country and should be watched very, very closely.

What brought all this to mind was the recent flap over those tea parties held on April 15th, the day governments annually and gleefully confiscate Americans’ hard earned money as Americans scramble to either scrape up the funds to pay their taxes or revel in their tax refunds.

The bigger those refunds are, the happier the recipients are.  Those generous taxpayers give nary a thought to the fact that they are being refunded monies they had loaned to various levels of government for up to a year, interest free.

The collective public wisdom of those generous citizens is that their returns represent forced savings.  The conventional governmental wisdom of those various governments is, “Ya gotta love those suckers!”

None of the above is a divergence from the topics at hand, Fox News Channel, those tea parties, and what Ralph Waldo Emerson called taxes, “the price we pay for civilization.”

Emerson wrote a century and a half ago.  If he were alive today, that eminent American philosopher most likely would have attached an addendum to his opinion to the effect, ”Wait, hold on now!  I didn’t mean to flush our taxes down sewers!”

Granted he would have phrased that change more delicately.  No doubt Ralph Waldo would also have admonished his good buddy, Henry David Thoreau, to stop the chit, forget trying to communicate with ants, and go home to a warm bed.

Ralph didn’t re-phrase and we now have exorbitant, repressive taxation–and good bud Thoreau died of pneumonia after his 2-year sojourn as a camper on Walden Pond, (which is now polluted beyond redemption.)

But FNC is once again getting a bad rap, a reflection of the ascendancy of the Fox network which now is trashing all the others with more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined in the April ratings: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/april_ratings_fnc_beats_cnn_and_msnbc_combined_115179.asp.

So, it’s not unexpected for the libs to be ripping Fox, sort of like the, “Let’s get the big guy!” mentality and that ripping has been in progress for almost as long as FNC has been around.  Monopolies simply despise upstarts.  However, the attacks have evolved into much more than that, as evidenced by the Tea Parties coverage.

The reactions of the monopolists have become positively visceral as CNN, especially, resorts to outrageous distortions and blatant lies to blast the opposition seemingly in hopes of bringing down the news leader.

Actually it demonstrates a palpable fear that not only will the CNNers be hitting the unemployment office eventually but that so many Americans are now getting unadulterated news that the lib stranglehold on TV has been ended permanently. One of many reasons is repressive taxation and we all know how Democrats/liberals love taxes.

Let’s fess up.  No one, not even Ralph Waldo, ever likes paying taxes but what conservatives tend to like is that those taxes be used constitutionally, such as paying for the national defense, roads, etc.  We also would like the feds to read and adhere to the Tenth Amendment, that last of the Bill of Rights demanded by former colonials which reads, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Farcically and pathetically ignored for nearly eighty years, that amendment to the Constitution was incorporated into our . . .

Wince-inducing Liberal Tales

Wince-inducing Liberal Tales

Feds, Booze, Sex, Gays, and Argentina:  In his proudly-proclaimed “re-making of America,” our new president has seen fit to re-make our anti-abortion policies among other re-makes but hasn’t seen fit to save Americans a few hundred thousand bucks by ending an Argentinian boondoggle.

That boondoggle wasn’t even Obama’s initiative since it began under the Bush administration but it’s entirely within his power to end it now.  I’m betting he won’t since it involves a major constituency, homosexuals.

Someone in the National Institute of Health thought it would be a great idea to launch a study into the relationship of bars, booze and homosexual sex, in Argentina.  Six “researchers” will be dispatched to sleazy gay bars in Buenos Aires and by August 2010 are expected to reach a conclusion.

As outlined by the NIH in inimitable gov-speak, “Targeting public venues in Buenos Aires where men meet, alcohol is consumed, and sexual behavior occurs, the goal of this two-year exploratory study is to understand the various factors that contribute to the creation of a high-risk sexual space.” (http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=47523)

I can save the NIH and the taxpayers a bunch of money since the conclusions are already foregone: Gays go to gay bars because there are other gays there; they drink and toke; they go do gay things; they may or may not contract AIDS that night.  Voila!  Case closed, so cancel the six junkets and save at least $200,000!

If the NIH really wants to slow the spread of HIV and AIDS, shutter all gay bars and other venues of gay ill-repute and re-institute prohibitions against homosexuality.  Another Voila!

Doc Specter’s Retroactive Prognosis:  New Democrat Arlen Specter has extensively studied the matter of Jack Kemp’s recent illness and has determined the 1996 Republican VP candidate would still be alive if not for those wascally Republicans.

Cancer is no joke and Specter is a cancer survivor so it’s even more appalling that he would resort to absurdities such as this: ”If we had pursued what President Nixon declared in 1970 as the war on cancer, we would have cured many strains. I think Jack Kemp would be alive today. And that research has saved or prolonged many lives, including mine.” (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/04/specter-hints-kemp-died-of-gop-agenda/)

The senator was suggesting that the Republicans dropped the research ball, which is untrue, but more to the point is that since Republican Nixon first proposed that war almost 40 years ago, we have had Democrats in power most of that time including Carter and Clinton as presidents for 12 years.

For Specter to even hint that Jack Kemp died because Republicans failed to follow through on cancer research is beyond contempt, for most people.  For Arlen Specter, wallowing in the contemptuous is par for the course but even he should have more respect for the truth and more respect for the dead than to spread self-serving canards.

Mostly Comedy

We have more than a sufficiency today of instance of domestic, national, and international tragedies.  We have a serious dearth of comedy, so serious that we have to search long and hard and look to serio-comedy, a tragic-comedic blend, for some balance.

We are favored today with few if any true, individual tragedies since we are blessed with few if any, true heroic figures who are requisites for classical tragedy.  As rare as comedy is, tragicomedies must be employed as another source to lighten the mood.

As a respite from the usual, we present a variety of current examples of light comedy, tragicomedy, farce, and political humor.

Light Comedy–Of Cigars and Bowling:

Meet the Duggars, all 20 of them:

I try not to watch television shows depicting odd behavior and I would have to cite the unreality series, “Eighteen Kids and Counting,” as an example.  The Duggars, (and no name-sniggering, please!), Michelle and Jim-Bob, must be out to set a production record with the number of their cherubs, 18 and counting plus a new grandbaby and new daughter-in-law.

As a registered cynic, i just think the family seems to be too good to be true, sort of like the near-perfect, all above average residents of Garrison Keilor’s Lake Wobegon.  They also seem like nice, good, deeply-religious people but, seriously now, eighteen kids?  Granted, the Bible tells us to be fruitful and multiply but God never suggested we do it like rabbits.  I’m no environmental nut but the Duggar carbon footprint must approach Al Gore’s!

Anyone living in the real world would have to wonder where the Duggers live.  What planet, that is.  I’m not referring to their beautiful sprawling bunk house in Tontitown, Arkansas where the parents appear to do little else but make babies and their kids spend their time looking like cute refugees from “Little House on the Prairie.”

Admittedly, the Duggars seem well able to afford their huge brood and all the kids appear pretty happy, and as clean and attractive as Obama.  Even more so.

It’s not really true that they’re homebodies, either.  The Duggars are constantly on the move, all 18 of their progeny in tow.  The clips of the clan going sky diving or touring Disney World or New York City has to raise suspicions that they could very well lose one or two along the way and would barely notice since there’s probably another one baking in Michelle’s oven.

That’s meanly facetious, of course, but when on the few occasions I’ve seen the show a W.C. Field’s comment comes to mind as does the comment of a friend’s mother in law.  In related contexts, Fields is supposed to have said about excessive procreational activities, “I like my cigar too, but I take it out once in a while.”  The mother-in-law, after her son in law had impregnated her daughter thrice in four years, asked him, “Why don’t you take up bowling or something?”

All in all, the Duggars represent pleasant, light comedy.  See their website: http://www.duggarfamily.com/

Tragicomedy–Jon, Kate and Someone:  Somewhat less wholesome is the case of another TLC reality show, “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” which features the Gosselin family, headed by an occasionally shrewish Kate Gosselin and her occasionally horny hubby, Jon.

Michelle Duggar would be horrified at some of Kate’s treatment of Jon and both Duggars would be aghast at Jon who is now suspected of looking for love in all the wrong places, with a few co-eds and conceivably in a bed not occupied by his wife: http://www.usmagazine.com/news/jon-and-kate-dad-caught-with-other-woman-2009284.

Compared to the Duggars, Jon and Kate’s brood is modest, a pair of twins and sextuplets:

Jon Gosselin, who achieved relative fame due to the accident of his wife birthing 6 babies in one fell swoop was caught wining, dining and maybe wooing a damsel other than Kate.  Caught in the act, he apologized for his randy behavior, which is more than Senator John Edwards or actor Mel Gibson did when caught with their Fruit o’ the Looms down.

Apologies may not cut it for Jon.  Mrs. Gosselin is no Mrs. Duggar and could very well bobbitize him in a future episode.  It may be Jon’s good fortune that divorce is in the wind according to US Magazine and other sources, which would probably lead to TLC’s cancellation of Jon, Kate, and their eight.

Farce–The Wedding Crusher:  So, a girl was getting wed last September.  When Harry met Sandrina they fell in love and they shacked up lived together for 3 years and set the date.  Things were moving along swimmingly on this the most important day of her life.  Afterward, the bride sued a wedding guest, Harry’s boss.

Said guest allegedly stood up during the ceremony and said, “Me and Harry were good together. You had to ruin everything by marrying him. You f- - -ed everything up,” . . .

100 Days of Obamamania

As the Obama administration enters its second hundred day cycle, the internet, the blogosphere, and that other source of news, information, and opinion–the dying mass media–are awash with people voicing their many and varied opinions on the success or failure of those days.

In a way, it’s unfair to pass judgement so soon on a new president since 14+ weeks is hardly sufficient time to draw valid conclusions.  Obama himself doesn’t think so, however, and is using the 100-day milestone to toot his own horn in the Midwest, after which he jets back to Washington to do some more tooting on his prime-time special tonight.

Not one to stay home when he could be visiting his subjects somewhere, our Traveller-in-Chief was off on Wednesday to the St. Louis area.  Recall that after all of 3 weeks as president, he announced he was already tired of Washington?  Well, he’s demonstrated his cure for that initial chief executive fatigue by flying all over the place, hitting 12 states and half a dozen countries in the last 3 months, and burning up tons of jet fuel and befouling the stratosphere in the process.

Rahm Emanuel should remind his boss that the election was over six months ago and this is the time to try governing instead of campaigning.  He might remind him too that he owes the planet tons of carbon credits for his needless meandering.

One junket was excusable, at least to the romantics out there.  That was when he took his bride to Chicago on Air Force One on St. Valentine’s Day.  It can’t really be classified as a campaign stop since he simply wanted to have a nice, enchanting little dinner with the beautiful Michelle at their favorite, cozy little rendezvous.  You can’t fault a guy for that.  Everyone knows there are no decent restaurants in the D.C. area.

In Missouri, Obama touted the achievements of his first 100 days at his fourth town hall type affair since he took over on January 20th, saying in characteristically lofty diction, “We’ve begun the work of remaking America.”  He added that, “We have begun to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off,” just like that famous ant with the rubber tree.

He also said he is “pleased with the progress we’ve made, but I’m not satisfied. I’m confident in the future, but I’m not content with the present:” http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aEOXy3xJPVoU&refer=worldwide.

That turned out to be such a good line that his trusty teleprompter prompted him to re-use it on prime time.

It was all very reassuring, as contrasted with his gloom and doom ravings of a few months ago when he got so carried away with negativism that Bubba Clinton had to tell him to stifle it.  Needless to say, he didn’t dwell on his flubs, fluffs, and screw-ups of his first 100 days.

Although Obama is still enjoying good favorability numbers, they aren’t off the charts and are very comparable to his predecessors’.  AOL/Politics Daily poll gives him . . .

Who the Hell Is George Soros?

“The war on terror cannot be won.”  The U.S. “is the main obstacle to a stable and just world.”  American troops are “perpetrators” and “oppressors.” “The war on drugs is doing more harm to our society than drug abuse itself.”

Words spoken by bin Laden or Harry Reid?  No.  By Vlad Putin or John Murtha?  Nope.  By Hugo Chavez or Fidel?  Nah.  By a Mexican drug lord or Robert Downey?  Wrong again.  They are just some of the collected words of leftist wisdom spewed by a defeatist, America-hating, bizarre individual who goes by the name of George Soros   http://www.americanissuesproject.org/soros.

Whose society he means by “our society” is as difficult to determine as is where his allegiance lies.  It can’t be in America.

According to one of his websites, “A global financier and philanthropist, George Soros is the founder and chairman of a network of foundations that promote, among other things, the creation of open, democratic societies based upon the rule of law, market economies, transparent and accountable governance, freedom of the press, and respect for human rights.”

That self-aggrandizing site fails miserably in explaining who and what this “financier and philanthropist” really is, how and where he got his money, and how and to whom he extends his generous helping hand.

Hint:  It’s not to the Republican Party and it’s not to conservative causes.

Born in Budapest to Jewish parents in 1930, Soros, (original name György Schwartz), emigrated to England in 1947 and then to America in 1956.  Since then, he has become one of the richest men on the planet, a position he evidently feels grants him the authority not only to make pronouncements on America’s leaders and America’s values but to manipulate our government and our people.

This week, Soros was in the news for saying that, “Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s role in approving enhanced interrogation techniques used by the CIA should be examined by a presidential commission:” http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=47242.

Translation: Cheney, along with former President George W. Bush, against whom Soros declared a vendetta in 2003, should be indicted, tried, convicted, hung by their thumbs or some other body part in the Mojave Desert, eaten alive by coyotes, and their remains devoured by ravenous vultures.  Don Rumsfeld and Condi Rice would no doubt be third and fourth in line for the Soros gallows.

Their crime(s)?  Doing all in their power to protect, defend, and preserve the United States of America, all of which are capital offenses in Soros’ book.  So, too, are America’s freedoms and our free enterprise and capitalist systems, the bases of America’s amazing strength, wealth and unsurpassed standard of living.

So, what’s his problem?  He has many obvious problems, among which is that George Soros has this undeniable skill and penchant for making billions as millions of others go broke and destitute.

Problem?  What problem, he would say.

As millions of Americans and Western Europeans have lost their jobs, homes, and mental well-being in the worst economic downturn since the 1930’s, Soros was scoring big time.  “George Soros said the current economic crisis has been the culmination of his life’s work.”  This long-anticipated crisis earned him over a billion dollars last year via his unregulated Quantum hedge fund for the super rich: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1164771/Im-having-good-crisis-says-hedge-fund-manager-1billion-world-plunged-recession.html.

In brief, Soros strove for this mess we are in and he is benefitting mightily from it as he continues his manipulations to effect a total financial and societal meltdown in the Western World.  Then, the unadvertised plan is, he and his fellow thinkers and fellow travelers will step in and establish a brave new world predicated on their socialistic, communistic precepts.

He’s quite familiar with economic and political crises and has long been a master manipulator of shady schemes to utilize them to his financial advantage: . . .

Abortion Updates

Abortion may be America’s most uncomfortable topic of discussion but its very unpopularity makes it that more important to discuss it.  Ignoring the gory details of abortion “procedures” and not publicizing those in the public eye who facilitate abortions won’t make the subject go away and will only exacerbate it.

Most politicians such as former president Clinton spout the tired line that they believe everything possible should be done to reduce the number of abortions–now up to 50,000,000 and counting since Roe v Wade–and then resort to various subterfuges to foster abortion. Many pols and non- pols seem oblivious of the hypocrisy of their stance versus their public utterances and actions.

Cases in point:

Biden is doing abortion’s bidding:  Hypocritical case in point is ostensibly-Catholic Vice President Joe Biden   who often seems oblivious but never more so than when he spoke at ostensibly-Catholic Georgetown University.  He was mis-chosen by Georgetown to receive an award for his efforts to protect women but he did not directly address the issue of protecting the pre-born, those little packages they carry which forever affect the lives of women.

The ostensibly-Catholic school likewise did not address Catholic theology nor reflect that in honoring pro-abortionists it was acting in defiance of papal and moral prohibitions.

In being “pro-choice,” a euphemism for pro-abortion, Biden apparently was unable to perceive the bitter irony in saying at the award ceremony that there is “no excuse” for violence committed against a child.  At the same time he endorses the most violent conceivable act against any child, namely murdering them in the process of aborting them:  http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=47051.

Biden must believe that violence, like beauty, lies in the perception of the beholder since he upholds various abortion techniques such as employing dilation and currettage, suction-aspiration, saline amniocentisis, and D&X.  Those “non-violent” methods, respectively, involve scraping, vacuuming, burning, and dissecting pre-born infants, for which there obviously is an excuse in the mind of Joseph Biden.

Standing up for the defenseless:  Someone who has witnessed abortion up close and all- too-personally is Registered Nurse Jill Stanek.  (See “Barack Hussein Abortion Obama,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=787 and “Obama Flips Off Babies,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=446.)

Pro-choice at one time, Jill Stanek   saw the light when she worked as an obstetric nurse at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois.  She was present one night when the most offensive of all types of abortion was committed against one of those children for whom VP Biden sees an excuse for killing.

Calling what Stanek saw an “abortion” is actually another, legal, euphemism.  It was actually far worse.

The late Democratic Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan referred to D&X abortions–late term abortions–as infanticide.  Had he been aware of so-called abortion advances as witnessed by Stanek he would have to qualify his view.  I refer to the practice of allowing babies born alive after botched medical abortions to wither and die and then be tossed in the trash.

What else is that but unaldulterated, premeditated murder, worse even than D&X infanticide?  When infants are born alive and nurses, doctors, and aides consign those babies to expire naked, alone, uncomforted, and un-loved in the garbage is much more a denial of our humanity that the Nazi Angel of Death, Dr. Mengele, ever demonstrated.

As a result of what she witnessed, Stanek became deeply involved in the pro-life movement and especially in the successful campaign to get a law on the books which protected the lives of those infant victims of “live birth abortions.”  That law was eventually passed overwhelmingly in Congress; Illinois State Senator Barack Obama   twice voted against a similar law in his state.

Stanek encountered our future president in the Illinois Capitol . . .

Frost/Nixon, An Excursion into Revisionist Fantasy

Frost/Nixon, An Excursion into Revisionist Fantasy

I freely concede I’m no movie critic with no pretense of being a Siskel, an Ebert, or a Roeper.  I like movies with some action, a shot of titilating romance, involving mixed genders, preferably devoid of leftist propaganda and homosexual themes. Unlike television sitcoms, locating such films is still possible, if increasingly difficult, to find.  Despite many reviews to the contrary, Frost/Nixon isn’t one of them.
I have no clue as to why it was honored with 5 Golden Globes and 5 Academy Award nominations except that those tributes were more reflective of Hollywood’s sharp liberal, leftist bent than the merits of the film.  Frost/Nixon’s one saving grace was that it was devoid of homosexual characters, attributable to its 1977 setting, when most homosexuals were still in closets as opposed to their current infestation of American society and entertainment venues.  Politically, it reeked and oozed liberal propaganda.

The absence of quality in the disjointed Frost/Nixon,  which nevertheless was accorded accolades, was superseded by a blatant revisionistic interpretation of history.  On top of all that, it was just plain boring, except for Frank Langella’s excellent rendition of the brooding yet brilliant figure of Richard Nixon.  As for Michael Sheen, he should have stayed on his own side of the Pond.

Perhaps a swisher or two would have made the difference in Frost/Nixon, as comic figures, and it might have finished ahead of Milk as best picture of 2008.  It sure worked for Brokeback Mountain, anointed the 2005 best picture winner because it “broke new ground” with its two homosexual cowboys.  Frost/Nixon didn’t break any ground at all since Nixon has been trashed for half a century and usually with more historical accuracy.

David Paradine Frost was essentially a nonentity with a career circling the toilet when he conceived the idea of cashing in on the disgraced and almost-impeached Nixon.  His project and the movie featured a series of one-on-one interviews with the former president, the plan being to get him to fess up that he was responsible for the loss of thousands of American lives and many more thousands of Vietnamese in the Viet Nam War and to admit complicity in the Watergate coverup.

The plan failed but you would never know it from Frost/Nixon which presents Frost as scoring a dramatic coup d’etat, which never really happened, although it’s hard to tell that from the reviews.

Google “Frost/Nixon” . . .

Gore, the Sighster Shyster Speaks Again!

Call Al Gore whatever you want, the Goracle, Algore, Albore, Al-the-Liar, Al-the-Fraud, or any of his other less-than-complimentary nicknames, you have to give him one thing: He’s consistent.  He’s like an annoying, dripping faucet and he’s especially consistent in his perfected, exasperated sighing when confronted by a serious question or issue raised by someone who hasn’t signed on to his pre-fabricated, “Inconvenient Lie.”

President Obama’s unofficial, un-designated point man for the global warming/global cooling/climate change scam dredged up a sigh of epic proportions last Friday when rudely asked by a fellow Tennessean, GOP Rep. Marsha Blackburn, if he were stuffing his wallet and bank accounts with all his campaigning to save Planet Earth from the planet’s chief predators, humankind:  http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2009/04/25/2009-04-25_al_gore_shows_his_disdain_for_global_warming_doubters_on_capitol_hill.html.

He seemed positively aghast that anyone would have the sheer effrontery to question his motives, punctuating his righteous defense with his patented, practiced sigh to emphasize his frustration with such dolts.

“Greed, you say!  Greed?  I give every bloody farthing I extort, ahem, earn from my movie to charity, I’ll have you know, you impudent little bitch!”  Well, Gore didn’t exactly say that to Rep. Blackburn but he did say that if she knew him she wouldn’t have asked such an impertinent question.  However, those who have been following the Nobel Prize winner’s misrepresentations and machinations for lo, these many years do know him quite well and we can read what’s really going on in that huge, hypocritical head of his.

You can catch his equally huge sigh here and his equally huge indignation here: http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=326113&widget=1.

He needn’t have been so frustrated.  The Democratic congress had his back by virtue or lack of virtue in its dis-invitation to an actual expert on climate change.  Lord Christopher Monckton had been prepared to challenge Gore’s thesis that this poor planet of ours is on the threshhold of an unspeakably catastrophic, cataclysmic, and really bad calamity due to cow farting but mostly due to Earthlings’ nasty habits of eating, manufacturing, consuming, and accomplishing in order to survive and thrive.

“Oh, no, you don’t, Monckie!” congressional Dems blustered.  “You’re not going to expose and humiliate our Goracle with evidence that he’s a shamster and undermine all our efforts to screw this country with Cap and Trade and our other schemes.  We’ve spent far too much time and effort spewing all that crap to have a Brit twit expose us now!”

Okay, neither Rep. Henry (The Weasel) Waxman nor any other Dem precisely used those words to articulate their sentiments nor did they fess up to supporting Obama’s efforts to surrender America’s sovereignty to the U.N. but, again, we of the Hypocrisy Police can read their minds.  They should be afraid, very afraid.

Lord Monckton is anything but afraid.  His wheels had barely hit the tarmac when he was informed…

Perez Hilton and the Kingdom of Gay

Perez Hilton,  aka Mario Armando Levandeira, Jr.,  may have chosen his nom de blog in a vain attempt to latch on to the cache’ associated with the Hilton hotel clan and such super-twits as Paris Hilton.  If so, and regrettably, for Perez, he struck out in the cache’ quest; he makes Paris seem classy in comparison.

How he came up with “Perez” is anyone’s guess, maybe because it sounds somewhat hispanically- exotic, the only thing exotic about him, except for his turquoise head.  Whatever the source, he missed that boat, too.  I’ll just call him PH for the acidity/alkalinity factor, which makes as much sense as his adopted name.

I previously, briefly, addressed PH’s disgraceful actions during and following the Miss U.S.A. festivities where he was grossly miscast as a judge.  In high dudgeon, he betrayed his petulance and intolerance of religious faith and honesty as personified by the gorgeous Miss California, Carrie Prejean.

In that prior mention, (”Hypocrites in the News II, http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=972), I referred to PH as “a sorry substitute for a human being, some swishing twit named Perez Hilton, . . . an exemplar of gay hypocrisy.”  I was being far too kind.

Carrie responded to his loaded question about gay marriage by saying, . . .

Will She Or Won’t She?

Clairol’s old ad asked the tantalizing question, “Does she, or doesn’t she?” posing the Earth-shaking question of whether some woman dyed her hair or not but subliminally asking all kinds of other questions about said woman and what she does and doesn’t do.

The title question, “Will she, or won’t she?” is similarly packed with innuendo but related to significantly more profound import, namely, Will Israel attack Iran before Iran   is nuclear-capable and missile-capable of reducing much of Israel to a glowing, molten puddle.

The stakes are incredibly high, not only for the State of Israel   but for the United States, the Mid East, Western Europe, and much of the rest of the globe.

Should Israel stage a pre-emptive assault on Ahmadinejad’s nuclear and nuclear- delivery facilities, it would face a severely adverse reaction from a world and a United Nations which historically haven’t wildly embraced either Jews or their homeland.  Should Israel not attack Iran and have one or more of its cities obliterated, its retaliation against Iran would surely be far worse than pre-emptive surgical strikes.

What to do?

To say the geopolitical situation is complex and grave would be gross oversimplification.  Israel has often shown it doesn’t conduct its foreign policy with a watchful, cautious eye toward international or American opinion even though the United States is its chief benefactor, arms supplier, and possibly its lone, reliable ally.  However, change is in the air and its new, feisty prime minister, Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu seems well aware that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are no George Bush and Condi Rice.

The Bush administration often demonstrated a total, unflinching commitment to the State of Israel.  Despite the support of the vast majority of American Jewish voters for Obama and despite the very powerful Jewish Lobby in this country, the Obama administration has been less than committed, and Bibi is well aware of that as well.

What to do?

Political considerations are never simple matters.  Even Julius Caesar, backed by the indomitable Roman army, had to placate, cajole, and intimidate when necessary the various factions in Rome as well as in the provinces.  Israel is no Rome and Netanyahu is no Caesar and his options are very few and very limited.

How would the United States react to such a strike?  Israel has acted unilaterally before when it staged successful raids on Libya and at Entebbe . . .

Hypocrites in the News II

Please see previous (political) “Hypocrites in the News:” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=969.

Today we widen our focus to cite non-political hypocrites very deserving of our attention to demonstrate that, although politicians have raised hypocrisy to a virtual art form, they don’t enjoy a monopoly.

A sad case in point is the previously-discussed, Mel Gibson, (”Sex, Morality, and the Decline of a Nation II,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=961), who, apparently, couldn’t keep his pants zipped when it came to a couple of Russki hotties.  If the allegations are true, Mel merits the top of the hypocrisy heap simply due to his prior status as a conservative icon who let us down almost as much as he let down his wife, his family, and himself.

Second place in the hypocritical non-political category is awarded to a sorry substitute for a human being, some swishing twit named Perez Hilton, who earned his position here by demonstrating intolerance.  As a dashing gay blade and a representative of his homosexual clique, surely he must have heard of the gay “Day of Silence” last week which sought to muzzle straight high school and college kids to enable the homosexual lobby to present its case for, take a guess, tolerance toward the gay community.

In actuality, the Day of Silence was dedicated as much to recruiting kids to its lifestyle as it was to gaining respect and tolerance, but that’s just one man’s opinion.  See here for the substance behind that opinion: http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=931.

Well, Perez, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr. and who maintains a website which features a more than flattering caricature of his likeness, proved proved to be more than a tad intolerant of a young lady named, Carrie Prejean.

The Perez-Carrie story has been widely circulated but for those not . . .

Earth Day 2009!

Earth Day 2009!

For all those waiting in patient expectation, this year’s Earth Day celebrations will be held this Wednesday, April 22nd, at various locales on Earth.

(Nostalgia buffs may want to peruse last year’s reflections on this momentous annual event, “Earth Day 2008″ at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=78.)

This will be the 39th annual Earth Day. The 2009 and 2010 observances have been subtitled, “The Green Generation,” in recognition of the advent of spring, I foolishly assumed, but that was an incorrect assumption as it turns out. I guess the package deal is meant to reduce the Earth Day carbon footprint, or something.

Old farts may recall the original Earth Day in 1970 when its proponents were warning Earthlings to button up their overcoats, assuming that by now the then-imminent New Ice Age would have spread across the continent and enveloped everything from the Statue of Liberty to the fruited plain to the Golden Gate Bridge in one huge ice cube. We all know what assumptions and assuming can lead to.

We all make mistakes, no? The Earth Day people view critical mistakes as occasions to re-group, take a temperature reading, and re-define what they’re talking about since that can vary a great deal.

The Great Freeze Scam was thereafter supplanted in favor of the Global Warming Scam, merely coincidental with age-old, cyclical and natural solar activity, until the damned planet started cooling off again. Undismayed by reality, those who truly care about the Earth as opposed to the rest of us who don’t give a damn, switched gears and tactics and adopted a new buzz term, “climate change.” That, they figured, would cover them no matter what the Earth decided to do.

Put another way, any port in a storm, as long as an atmosphere of crisis could be maintained. Crises scared people and a sense of crisis in lieu of actual science was much more effective in instilling fear. More importantly, scared people would go along with just about anything, even absurdity.

Within the infinitesimally brief period of mere decades, the Earth Day gang had gone full circle. They initially were warning humankind that we were all gradually becoming encased in a global ice cube that would be so cold that human habitation thoughout the planet would be extinguished and we would all wish we were basking in the warm fires of Hell. It progressed to terrifying the planet that it would be bubbling over from an unbearable, unending heat. Lady Liberty and the Golden Gate could be on the verge of melting into, respectively, New York harbor and San Francisco Bay and America’s fruited plain would be like toasted oats. They finally settled on the fail-safe, mid-range buzz term of climate change which would cover their crisis-centered sorry asses no matter what.

I think the 2004 blockbuster movie, “The Day after Tomorrow” was the tipping point in the thinking of the Earth Day scaremongers. It had some great special effects but the preposterous premise that the hot horrors of global warming would, virtually overnight, lead to the frigid ferocity of global freezing tested their imaginations to such a degree that an alternative had to be found to preserve the minds of Al Gore and Company, and climate change was their savior.

Hope springs eternal with that whole crew, not hope for humanity as much as hope to accomplish the true goals of the movement which are wrapped up in U.N. schemes such as the Kyoto Protocol and re-distribution of the world’s wealth, a euphemism for stealing from Americans to give unto non-Americans.. . .

A Homosexual Speaks Out

In the interests of fairness and since I have recently been accused of being a “mother f****r,” a homophobe, a bigot, a hater, an ignoramus, a slanderer, and a closet homosexual, (See comments following “Day of Silence . . .” article, http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=931#comment-1840), I hereby offer even more space for a supplementary rebuttal from a representative of the gay community.

Copyright restrictions prohibit reprinting the entire rebuttal–which may be a poor choice of words for a homosexual’s commentary–but I will provide the link to “Homophobia Is Killing Our Youth,” published on Newsvine.com and written by “ladyblue999:” http://ladyblue999.newsvine.com/_news/2009/04/18/2699852-homophobia-is-killing-our-youth.

Needless to say, I feel compelled to comment on the commentary by ladyblue999, to whom I shall refer as 999 for the sake of simplicity. First of all, for clarification, I believe 999’s title is a reference to gay youths, not young people in general, allegedly being killed by homophobia.

In the second sentence of her brief article, (assuming 999 is a “she,” something not always determinable among transgenders), 999 writes, “Amidst all this homophobic murder, . . .” Now, that’s confusing since one can’t distinguish whether 999 is referencing the “killing” in her title, which in itself is hyperbolic, or referring to actual murders of gays in our society. If the latter, then 999 is perpetuating a myth created by the LGBT Lobby that straights are roaming the landscape slaughtering homosexuals willy nilly, or even regularly.

Stuff happens, of course, and sometimes very evil “stuff” such as the murder of anyone for any reason, every instance of which should be condemned by all members of civilized society. However, if 999 is suggesting that instances of killing homosexuals by non-homosexuals even remotely approximates the reverse, i.e., gays murdering non-gays, she is a victim or a perpetrator of that manufactured fallacy.

Since this space was offered as an opportunity for 999 to speak out, I won’t belabor the point except to say that that fallacy goes back to the senseless murder in 1998 of Matthew Shepard by two degenerate cretins who, it has been proven, killed the Wyoming student not because he was gay but because they wanted to rob him. Gays, however, jumped on the case to advance their own causes even if their basic premise was flawed.

For a number of specifics refuting that canard, please see . . .
