Wake Up Suckers!

When we were kids and our parents would stop by the bank, we would get a lollypop (normally green, though sometimes purple). And now we’re going to push this memory to its metaphorical limit. You see, what’s the perfect thing when you make a withdrawal from your sleep bank and stay up longer than you should? A caffeinated lollypop, that’s right! And there’s no caffeinated lollypop like a Javapop!

Javapops come in 5 adult flavors, each one a decadent taste of fancy brew. And these suckers aren’t for kids, as each one is extra large and loaded with 60mg of caffeine. Please direct your attention to the little wooden stick. That’s so you can swizzle your Javapop in some liquid coffee - for even more sweet pep. By now you are probably wondering how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Javapop. Well, whatever you do, don’t ask an owl - they cheat.

Sold in 10 packs - each 10 pack contains 2 of each of the following flavors: French Vanilla, Chocolate Almond, Irish Crème, Cappuccino, and Chocolate Raspberry. Each Javapop contains 60mg of caffeine.
Question is… where are the, Go To Sleep Suckers ... for kids?  wink ThinkGeek.com

The keyboard is mightier than the pen

The press and political pressure helped ‘lose’ the first battle of Fallujah, an Army report says. UPI reports:

A secret intelligence assessment of the first battle of Fallujah shows that the U.S. military thinks that it lost control over information about what was happening in the town, leading to “political pressure” that ended its April 2004 offensive with control being handed to Sunni insurgents. ...

The authors said the press was “crucial to building political pressure to halt military operations,” from the Iraqi government and the Coalition Provisional Authority, which resulted in a “unilateral cease-fire” by U.S. forces on April 9, after just five days of combat operations. ...

Crucial to the failure, the authors said, was the role of the Arabic satellite news channels Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya. An Al Jazeera crew was in Fallujah during the first week of April 2004, when the Marines began their assault on the city of 285,000 people. ...

By contrast, the assessment stated that later in 2004, when U.S.-led forces successfully retook Fallujah, they brought with them 91 embedded reporters representing 60 press outlets, including Arabic ones. “False allegations of non-combatant casualties were made by Arab media in both campaigns, but in the second case embedded Western reporters offered a rebuttal,” the authors said.

Read the whole thing. This is why the stranglehold of the lefties on our own MSM is so bad for this country. I don’t object to the lefties having their say, but theirs shouldn’t be the “standard” of news coverage. Just like in the marketplace, competition produces the best quality.

Huckabee Tough on Crime - Letting Rapists Kill Again

Huck got letters from victims, but ignored them because Dumond had “found Jesus”.

And then Huckabee denies getting the letters, only to have his campaign come back later and admit that the letters were genuine.

Huckabee is More Like the Other Folks from Hope

Huck has never met a gift he doesn’t like.  Quid Pro Quo.

Gift Cards.  Free Suits.  Gift Registers… The guy just screams “Fiscal Conservative”.

Expect the Huckabee supporters to explain why his gift taking habits are not an issue, just like his amnesty plans are not an issue, just like his tax hikes are not an issue, just like his pardoning of rapists who “found Jesus” is not an issue.  The real issue is that Huckabee is an Evangelical preacher from the south who is pro-life and a social conservative and he isn’t some damned Godless heathen Mormon.  And he has been endorsed by Chuck Norris and Jesus.  Chuck Norris and Jesus say “vote for Huck” so why should we dig any deeper than that?

Most Americans “Very Satisfied” With Their Personal Lives

Joseph Carroll

Slim majority also say they are “very happy” at this time

PRINCETON, NJ—As Americans look ahead to the new year and reflect on the year past, a recent Gallup Poll finds the public generally content with their own lives. Most Americans say they are generally happy, with a slim majority saying they are “very happy.” More than 8 in 10 Americans say they are satisfied with their personal lives at this time, including a solid majority who say they are “very satisfied.” This personal satisfaction level contrasts sharply with the low level of satisfaction Americans express with the way things are going “in the United States at this time.” Republicans, married adults, those residing in higher income households, parents of young children, those attending church weekly, and whites are most likely to say they are satisfied and happy at this time.

Personal Satisfaction

According to the Dec. 6-9, 2007, poll, 84% of Americans say they are satisfied with the way things are going in their personal life at this time, while 14% are dissatisfied. These results have been fairly stable since Gallup first started tracking Americans’ personal life satisfaction in 1979. The percentage of Americans who say they are satisfied with their personal life has averaged 82% over this period, with a low of 73% in July 1979 and a high of 88% in December 2004. (It is worth noting that in the same Dec. 6-9 survey only 27% of Americans said they were satisfied with the way things are going in the United States at this time, providing a vivid contrast between Americans’ view of things “out there” across the country and their view of their own personal lives.)

Of the 84% of Americans who are satisfied with their personal life, 59% say they are “very” satisfied, while 25% say they are “somewhat” satisfied. The percentage of Americans who are very satisfied is up slightly from 55% last year, and while similar to other ratings going back to 2001 (when Gallup began asking this question annually), this 2007 percentage is the highest since that time. In December 2002, just 50% were very satisfied, the lowest in the past seven years.

Democrats, lefties, MSM hardest hit.

Huckabee on Taxes, Immigration, Clemency

Funny, but some folks here want us to overlook a tax hiking, free spending, Amnesty supporting, Illegal subsidizing, rapist freeing “Conservative” because Huckster speaks Gospel speak.

Huckabee’s star burned bright when folks were hoodwinked by a slick talking Pastor from down south, but as folks investigate and look at his record, he is far from Conservative.

Rasmussen: Republican Identity Jumps to Two Year High

Rick Moran

According to pollster Rasmussen, the number of Americans who identify themselves as Republican has risen to a two year high:

The number of Americans who consider themselves to be Republicans jumped nearly two percentage points in December to 34.2%. That’s the largest market share for the Republican brand in nearly two years, since January 2006 (see history from January 2004 to present).

At the same time, the number of Democrats fell to 36.3%. That’s down a point compared to a month ago. During 2007, the number of Democrats has ranged from a low of 35.9% in July to a high of 37.8% in February.

The reason for the jump in self identified Republicans? Greater confidence in the party to fight the war on terror would seem to be the key. While it has not affected President Bush’s approval ratings, recent international events - including the improving situation in Iraq - reminds voters why they prefer the Republican party over the Democrats when it comes to national security.

[...]

Perhaps the American people are suffering from “buyer’s remorse” when it comes to congressional Democrats who have failed to pass any significant legislation since taking over.

At the very least this news - if it holds - will mean that Democrats would probably only realize modest gains at the ballot box next November - if they win anything at all. A far cry from the heady days last summer when it appeared the Democrats would almost run the table in the Senate and continue building a bigger majority in the House.

Very good for America; bad for Democrats.

Boys Will Be Boys And Well, Tigers Will Be Tigers Too!

TIGER ATTACK VICTIMS USED SLINGSHOT ON TIGER

SAN FRANCISCO- Two brothers who were injured when a tiger attacked them at the San Francisco Zoo had slingshots on them at the time, a source said.

The brothers have refused to comment on whether they were taunting the tiger prior to the attack.

An empty vodka bottle was also found in a car used by Amritpal Dhaliwal, 19, and his brother, Kulbir, 23, on the day of the mauling, which left 17-year-old Carlos Sousa Jr. dead, according to the source. The discoveries could be an indication that the brothers may have taunted the 350-pound Siberian tiger before it leapt from its grotto.

A bit like getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar tiger’s mouth huh?

Whitewash-The Racist History the Democrat Party Wants You to Forget

BRUCE BARTLETT

[...]

Following are some quotes from prominent Democrats largely drawn from my new book, “Wrong on Race: The Democratic Party’s Buried Past.” Even with the exclusion of all quotes that contain the N-word, it is clear that many of the Democratic Party’s most important historical figures have long made statements that reduce Reagan’s alleged transgression to a drop in the ocean. If we are going to hold him and his party accountable for a single mention of states’ rights, then the party of those listed below is far more culpable in promoting and defending racism.

Blacks “are inferior to the whites in the endowments of both of body and mind.”

--Thomas Jefferson, 1787

Co-founder of the Democratic Party (along with Andrew Jackson)

President, 1801-09

[...]

“Resolved, That the Democratic Party will resist all attempts at renewing, in Congress or out of it, the agitation of the slavery question, under whatever shape or color the attempt may be made.”

--Platform of the Democratic Party, 1852

[...]

“Resolved, That claiming fellowship with, and desiring the co-operation of all who regard the preservation of the Union under the Constitution as the paramount issue--and repudiating all sectional parties and platforms concerning domestic slavery, which seek to embroil the States and incite to treason and armed resistance to law in the Territories; and whose avowed purposes, if consummated, must end in civil war and disunion, the American Democracy recognize and adopt the principles contained in the organic laws establishing the Territories of Kansas and Nebraska as embodying the only sound and safe solution of the ‘slavery question’ upon which the great national idea of the people of this whole country can repose in its determined conservatism of the Union--NON-INTERFERENCE BY CONGRESS WITH SLAVERY IN STATE AND TERRITORY, OR IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA” (emphasis in original).

--Platform of the Democratic Party, 1856

“I hold that a Negro is not and never ought to be a citizen of the United States. I hold that this government was made on the white basis; made by the white men, for the benefit of white men and their posterity forever, and should be administered by white men and none others.”

--Sen. Stephen A. Douglas (D., Ill.), 1858

Presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, 1860

“Resolved, That the enactments of the State Legislatures to defeat the faithful execution of the Fugitive Slave Law, are hostile in character, subversive of the Constitution, and revolutionary in their effect.”

--Platform of the Democratic Party, 1860

“The Almighty has fixed the distinction of the races; the Almighty has made the black man inferior, and, sir, by no legislation, by no military power, can you wipe out this distinction.”

--Rep. Fernando Wood (D., N.Y.), 1865

Mayor of New York City, 1855-58, 1860-62

“My fellow citizens, I have said that the contest before us was one for the restoration of our government; it is also one for the restoration of our race. It is to prevent the people of our race from being exiled from their homes--exiled from the government which they formed and created for themselves and for their children, and to prevent them from being driven out of the country or trodden under foot by an inferior and barbarous race.”

--Francis P. Blair Jr., accepting the Democratic nomination for Vice President, 1868

Democratic Senator from Missouri, 1869-72

His statue stands in the U.S. Capitol.

“Instead of restoring the Union, it [the Republican Party] has, so far as in its power, dissolved it, and subjected ten states, in time of profound peace, to military despotism and Negro supremacy.”

--Platform of the Democratic Party, 1868

[...]

“We, the delegates of the Democratic party of the United States . . . demand such modification of the treaty with the Chinese Empire, or such legislation within constitutional limitations, as shall prevent further importation or immigration of the Mongolian race.”

--Platform of the Democratic Party, 1876

“No more Chinese immigration, except for travel, education, and foreign commerce, and that even carefully guarded.”

--Platform of the Democratic Party, 1880

“American civilization demands that against the immigration or importation of Mongolians to these shores our gates be closed.”

--Platform of the Democratic Party, 1884

“We favor the continuance and strict enforcement of the Chinese exclusion law, and its application to the same classes of all Asiatic races.”

--Platform of the Democratic Party, 1900

[...]

“Republicanism means Negro equality, while the Democratic Party means that the white man is supreme. That is why we Southerners are all Democrats.”

--Sen. Ben Tillman (D., S.C.), 1906

Chairman, Committee on Naval Affairs, 1913-19

“We are opposed to the admission of Asiatic immigrants who can not be amalgamated with our population, or whose presence among us would raise a race issue and involve us in diplomatic controversies with Oriental powers.”

--Platform of the Democratic Party, 1908

[...]

“Slavery among the whites was an improvement over independence in Africa. The very progress that the blacks have made, when--and only when--brought into contact with the whites, ought to be a sufficient argument in support of white supremacy--it ought to be sufficient to convince even the blacks themselves.”

--William Jennings Bryan, 1923

Presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, 1896, 1900 and 1908

Appointed Secretary of State by Woodrow Wilson in 1913

His statue stands in the U.S. Capitol.

“Anyone who has traveled to the Far East knows that the mingling of Asiatic blood with European or American blood produces, in nine cases out of ten, the most unfortunate results. . . . The argument works both ways. I know a great many cultivated, highly educated and delightful Japanese. They have all told me that they would feel the same repugnance and objection to have thousands of Americans settle in Japan and intermarry with the Japanese as I would feel in having large numbers of Japanese coming over here and intermarry with the American population. In this question, then, of Japanese exclusion from the United States it is necessary only to advance the true reason--the undesirability of mixing the blood of the two peoples. . . . The Japanese people and the American people are both opposed to intermarriage of the two races--there can be no quarrel there.”

--Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1925

President, 1933-45

[...]

“I am a former Kleagle [recruiter] of the Ku Klux Klan in Raleigh County. . . . The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia. It is necessary that the order be promoted immediately and in every state in the union.”

--Robert C. Byrd, 1946

Democratic Senator from West Virginia, 1959-present

Senate Majority Leader, 1977-80 and 1987-88

Senate President Pro Tempore, 1989-95, 2001-03, 2007-present

His portrait stands in the U.S. Capitol.

[...]

“I did not lie awake at night worrying about the problems of Negroes.”

--Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, 1961

Kennedy later authorized wiretapping the phones and bugging the hotel rooms of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“I’m not going to use the federal government’s authority deliberately to circumvent the natural inclination of people to live in ethnically homogeneous neighborhoods. . . . I have nothing against a community that’s made up of people who are Polish or Czechoslovakian or French-Canadian or blacks who are trying to maintain the ethnic purity of their neighborhoods.”

--Jimmy Carter, 1976

President, 1977-81

Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, 2002

“The Confederate Memorial has had a special place in my life for many years. . . . There were many, many times that I found myself drawn to this deeply inspiring memorial, to contemplate the sacrifices of others, several of whom were my ancestors, whose enormous suffering and collective gallantry are to this day still misunderstood by most Americans.”

--James Webb, 1990

Now a Democratic Senator from Virginia

[...]

“I do not think it is an exaggeration at all to say to my friend from West Virginia [Sen. Robert C. Byrd, a former Ku Klux Klan recruiter] that he would have been a great senator at any moment. . . . He would have been right during the great conflict of civil war in this nation.”

--Sen. Christopher Dodd (D., Conn.), 2004

Chairman, Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs

Candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, 2008

I have edited out all the quotes that are typical only of Southern Dems, and have included the ones that were typical for the Dem Party during most of its history, including some very recent ones.
The popular propaganda meme today is that Dem racism was only from the South, and that the Southern Dems were really conservatives, and who would be Republicans today. This is simply untrue.

FRED THOMPSON: Too Sane To Be President?

by Paul Marks from Samizdata.net 12/31
http://www.samizdata.net/blog/archives/2007/12/fred_thompson_t.html

This morning Fox and Friends concentrated on three candidates in relation the Iowa caucuses on Thursday night: the two lead candidates in the polls, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney - and John McCain… this was in spite of the fact that Senator McCain is not in Iowa (he is in New Hampshire) and that Fred Thompson is ahead of John McCain is most of Iowa polls.

This is a part of pattern: last night Fred Thompson was on Fox News Sunday, but in the panel discussion, later in the show, the panellists ignored Fred Thompson. He is attacked by people, including me, for not going on enough television shows - but when he does go on what he says is ignored, so perhaps I see why he does not clamour to go on. Yesterday morning Fox and Friends, like the rest of the media, was busy laughing at Fred Thompson’s comments about not being obsessed with politics: “If one is not passionate about campaigning one should not run for office,” was the message of the media…

Finally, someone has found the words to say it.

Citizen Soldier

I was directed to this song by Zsa Zsa who deserves my thanks, I thought it was good enough to post. I think it should be played every night of the Republican Convention in the hall, and on those huge stadium sized video screens outside the Democrat Convention, I am sending it to all my friends.

Have a Plan to Kill Everyone You Meet

Hard core! But in a situation where complacency can kill you, it’s best not to get too comfortable!

From Michael J. Totten’s Middle East Journal:

FALLUJAH — A sign on the door leading out of India Company’s Combat Operations Center says “Have a Plan to Kill Everyone You Meet.” For a fraction of second I thought it might be some kind of joke. But I was with the Marine Corps in Fallujah, and it wasn’t a joke.

I asked Captain Stewart Glenn if he could explain and perhaps elaborate a bit on what, exactly, that sign is about. “It’s pretty straightforward,” he said rather bluntly. “It means exactly what it says.”

A sign outside Lieutenant Nathan Bibler’s Joint Security Station in the slums of Fallujah makes the point a little more clearly, and delicately. “Look at everyone as though they are trying to kill you, but you cannot treat them that way.”

A little further in the story, there’s a bit of interesting interplay with journalistic ethics when the Marine he is with asks him:

“If we get in a fire fight,” he said, “and I give you my pistol, will you take it?”

Election Fallout of the Surge Plan

Christopher Alleva

[...]

President Bush understands that conceding defeat will lead to disasters of unfathomable proportions. The geo-political repercussions have the potential to dwarf any crisis we have ever faced. The realpolitik proponents at the CFR fail to recognize what the President sees clearly, articulating it in his commencement speech to the graduates of West Point:

“On September the 11th, 2001, we saw that problems originating in a failed and oppressive state 7,000 miles away could bring murder and destruction to our country. And we learned an important lesson: Decades of excusing and accommodating the lack of freedom in the Middle East did nothing to make us safe. (Applause.) So long as the Middle East remains a place where freedom does not flourish, it will remain a place where terrorists foment resentment and threaten American security.”

“So we are pursuing a forward strategy of freedom in the Middle East. I believe the desire for liberty is universal—and by standing with democratic reformers across a troubled region, we will extend freedom to millions who have not known it—and lay the foundation of peace for generations to come.”

For the American people the choice could not be starker. We can chose the path to defeat and uncertainty of the Democrats, or we can stick it out pursuing President Bush’s forward strategy of freedom and liberty in the Middle East, fundamentally changing a self-perpetuating pathology that led to the worst attack in the history of the nation. This is a very straight-forward choice for the voters: if you want to lose, vote for the Democrats; if you want to win vote for the Republicans.

Read the whole thing.  It’s got all the history, reasoning and logic.

Just Ask The Blonde

Ask The Blonde!

Two tourists were driving through Louisiana. As they approached Natchitoches, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town.

They argued back and forth until they finally stopped for lunch.

As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the blonde employee, “Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are… very slowly?”

The blonde girl leaned over the counter and said, “Burrrrrrrr, gerrrrrrr, Kiiiiing.”
