Say Anything Exclusive: People Make Things Up!

According to an unsourced study, fully 90% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Discuss amongst yourselves…

The Heavens Proclaim - Give Thanks

I grew up in Rural North Dakota. I spent a lot of time on my back with a telescope. John Redlin and I would lay on a blanket in his back yard. I later would often find myself out on a hill near Ranch 2 at midnite looking up. Sometimes it would be clear as a bell in winter. The nearest yard light would be 2 miles away. The stars would be so bright, you could see the color differences between them.

It was more than just pedantic identification. To see the milky way streak across the sky and know that I was seeing billions of suns with planets on them gave me a sense of awe I carry to this day. How could I not believe in God seeing this. Paul the Apostle wrote of this in Romans 1:20 (NKJV) that,
““For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse. . .”

There were times when we lived north of Fargo that at 3AM the northern lights would be so bright you could almost see your shadow. It would seem as if you could actually hear them. They would humm. The telephone and power lines seemed to pick up the noise of them and reflect them.

I say this because I just looked at some pictures I want to show you from the Hubble telescope. I think the lack of faith in God exists because other lesser lights have dimmed our capacity to see the majesty that is the heavens. No wonder David wrote of what they saw at night with such eloquence:
““The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands."” (Psalm 19:1)

““O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Thy name in all the earth, Who hast displayed Thy splendor above the heavens! “

“When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which Thou has ordained;”

“O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Thy name in all the earth!”

(Psalm 8:1,3,9)

““Thy heavens, the work of the Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou has ordained”

“Thou dost make him [man] to rule over the works of Thy hands, Thou has put all things under his feet"” (Psalms 8:3,6).

And Moses warns people to understand that God created these things and that we are not to worship them but worship God. The beauty of the stars are a gift, a heritage to us.
““And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the Lord your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage” (Deuteronomy 4:19).

So, with that understanding, take a look at the pictures. When your breath is taken away and you stand in awe, remember your and their creator are ONE.

And say Thank You.

Let’s Blow Granny Up. That’ll Show ‘em!

How was this a good idea?

It’s novel, I’ll give them that. Loading Granny down with explosives so she could blast her way into the headlines as their latest political statement is somewhat of a departure from the norm. But - that’s all it was. A political statement, a headline grabber.

The IDF saw her coming and because she was "acting suspiciously" they tossed a stun grenade at her. She then pulled the cord or pushed the button and blew herself to pieces before she could kill anyone else.

Why did this happen? How did it happen?

Strapping that old lady up with high explosives and sending her toward IDF soldiers had absolutely no military benefit. It gave no one any kind of tactical advantage. It was simply a cynical and murderous exercise in public relations.

Whoever was behind this actually had her make a martyr video in which she stands, holding an assault rifle and looking absurd, and says that she “hopes God accepts this.” She doesn’t look like a jihadi. She looks like someone’s grandma with a gun.

What kind of minds are at work here? The people who put together things like this are absolutely some of the most twisted people this world has ever known. But an even better question than asking what kind of animal would put something like this together is, why can’t their victims, the ones who end up loaded down with exposives and walking into a cafe on a sunny afternoon to kill people who’ve never done anything to them, why can’t they see they’re being used?

Their lives don’t mean anything at all to the con man manipulators who talk them into matrydom. Neither does their martydom, for that matter. They are nothing to these people.

There is no humanity in their puppet-masters. All they are to them are tomorrow’s newspaper article.

One of the maniacs who orchestrated this murder -and it was murder whether she set off the expolsives or not - was actually quoted as saying that they had told the Israelis that they would surprise them, and this was part of the surprise.

Well, I’m not surprised. At this point no sub-human act, no matter how brutal, those followers of the Religion of Peace perpetrate would surprise me. No horror is beneath them.

The old lady’s family buried the pieces of her yesterday. Consistent with the cultural insanity and collective mental illness that is now Islam they actually said to a sympathetic press how proud they were of her.

They’re being used too. And the radical Islamists couldn’t be happier about it.

Suspicious Beyond Reproach?

Interesting Trivia: Both Nancy Palosi and John Conyers voted in favor of impeaching Alcee Hastings, who was indeed impeached by a Democratic CONTROLLED House.

Learn more and be the judge, ..

If they consider the issue at all, Americans probably expect the person in charge of overseeing their nation’s spies to be smart, insightful and thorough—but above all else, he or she must be able to keep a secret. As the debate builds over who will next lead the House intelligence committee, at least one conservative publication has asked whether the Democrats’ presumptive pick, Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL), has whispered secrets that ruined federal investigations.

Here’s Conyers elequent statment in regards to why he thought Hastings was guilty.”>Here’s Conyers great spoken statment in regards to why he thought Hastings was guilty”>Here’s Conyers great spoken statment in regards to why he thought Hastings was guilty.

The Neoconservative Persuasion

With Excerpts from Irving Kristol
WHAT EXACTLY IS NEOCONSERVATISM?

Even I, frequently referred to as the “godfather” of all those neocons, have had my moments of wonderment. A few years ago I said (and, alas, wrote) that neoconservatism had had its own distinctive qualities in its early years, but by now had been absorbed into the mainstream of American conservatism. I was wrong, and the reason I was wrong is that, ever since its origin among disillusioned liberal intellectuals in the 1970s, what we call neoconservatism has been one of those intellectual undercurrents that surface only intermittently.

[...]

[O]ne can say that the historical task and political purpose of neoconservatism would seem to be this: to convert the Republican party, and American conservatism in general, against their respective wills, into a new kind of conservative politics suitable to governing a modern democracy.

[...]

Neocons do not like the concentration of services in the welfare state and are happy to study alternative ways of delivering these services. But they are impatient with the Hayekian notion that we are on “the road to serfdom.” Neocons do not feel that kind of alarm or anxiety about the growth of the state in the past century, seeing it as natural, indeed inevitable.

[...]

Finally, for a great power, the “national interest” is not a geographical term, except for fairly prosaic matters like trade and environmental regulation. A smaller nation might appropriately feel that its national interest begins and ends at its borders, so that its foreign policy is almost always in a defensive mode. A larger nation has more extensive interests. And large nations, whose identity is ideological, like the Soviet Union of yesteryear and the United States of today, inevitably have ideological interests in addition to more material concerns. Barring extraordinary events, the United States will always feel obliged to defend, if possible, a democratic nation under attack from nondemocratic forces, external or internal. That is why it was in our national interest to come to the defense of France and Britain in World War II. That is why we feel it necessary to defend Israel today, when its survival is threatened. No complicated geopolitical calculations of national interest are necessary.

[...]

The older, traditional elements in the Republican party have difficulty coming to terms with this new reality in foreign affairs, just as they cannot reconcile economic conservatism with social and cultural conservatism. But by one of those accidents historians ponder, our current president and his administration turn out to be quite at home in this new political environment, although it is clear they did not anticipate this role any more than their party as a whole did. As a result, neoconservatism began enjoying a second life, at a time when its obituaries were still being published.

While the left’s portrayal of Neoconservatism is in a demonizing regard, the attitudes of the persuasion’s founders should not be ignored.

YouTube, MySpace and Jihad

From First Coast News:

Homegrown Terrorists Recruited to Attack America

By Jackelyn Barnard
First Coast News

It’s a video showing a room full of children sharing their dreams. They are not excited about being doctors, lawyers or teachers. Instead, the children shout, “We are the nation of Hezbollah. I shall sacrifice my life for Allah.”

A group of children in training to be a mujahideen, or holy warrior.

Online there are videos of those warriors. One suicide bomber announces he is readying himself to blow up a group of American soldiers.

The video goes on for eight minutes and even shows the explosion. In the background are cheers from those taking the pictures.

The video is just some of the many the First Coast News I-team found on the internet from sites like Youtube and Myspace.

“I think right now we are a ticking time bomb,”
says Tom Hayden, a retired Lt. Col Marine, who is also a counter terrorism expert.

Hayden says some of the videos, while disturbing, are online for a reason.

“Something like myspace, probably the most well known, popular website right now, it’s even being used to transmit messages,” says Hayden.

He says there are messages left on the internet for those recruited to carry out another 9/11 type attack. Hayden says those Jihad soldiers are getting messages in chat rooms and on message boards.

“There is a specific time that a message is coming. Then it’s on there and then it is taken off,” says Hayden.

Read the whole thing.

Maybe we should think twice before patronizing those sites.  YouTube is already censoring conservative content, and this is another nail in the coffin.

Caught in a Nasty Draft

Charlie Rangle wants congressfolks to vote different because they might hurt their own children by having them subject to the draft.  Ergo, he wants to implement the draft.

That means that der Rangle wants them to vote in their own interest over what is best for the country.  That’s his frame of reference.  Evidently he feels like that would be appropriate and in fact he practices that all the time.

So if that is what he endorses, voting in a selfish interest over the good of your constituency, then I don’t want to hear any carping if congressmen and women vote to:

Prop up a business they have ownership in
Support an industry they are given money from
Vote to have massive earmarks that only help a     few
Support an investment program regarding   property they have title to

In other words, screw the voter, vote in your own self-interest.

Wait, that’s exactly what’s happening now.  So, maybe Chuckie has a great idea here.  He’s just tapping into the natural selfish motives of our congress.

It’s worse now that the Dems are in, they have no shame.  I’m pretty cynical about all this.

If you want to implement a draft, clean out all the jails of any man under the age of 40, offer them a chance at clearing their record and getting right with society.  They agree to a 5-year stint in the service (after training).  Most likely Middle East combat.  If they complete their service without incident and are honorably discharged after the 5 years, they go a free man.  No pay for these men.  They get training and boot camp more in depth and intense than any marine X 2.

At the end of the training they are put into groups placed in the most dangerous situations.  Then they fight.

If they Flunk Out they go back to jail and the failure is part of their record.  In addition if they escape or go awol they are executed upon capture.  They can quit but that does them ill on the parole potential or “good time” they might have gotten.

In other words, if you sign up for this program you have tremendous incentive to make it work.

And, the governments, national, state and local save a ton of money.  We currently have nearly 1.5 MILLION men (mostly) in prison today.  A high percentage of them are in for drugs.  Let’s put them to work.  Even those with murder on the dock.

That would be a million man army if most of these men were used.  Nutcases need not apply.
But there are a lot of men who could do us some good if we just put them in the right place.

That’s the draft I would support.  It’s as it used to be.  When I was young, many miscreants were given the chance at joining the army rather than go to jail.  They did, served and became good members of society after a term or two in the service.

Why not do it again?  It worked in the 50’s.

Russia:  Against Us

Russia has made their choice as to if they are with us or against us.

Russian rocket deliveries to Iran started

Russia has begun deliveries of the Tor-M1 air defence rocket system to Iran, Russian news agencies quoted military industry sources as saying, in the latest sign of a Russian-US rift over Iran.

“Deliveries of the Tor-M1 have begun. The first systems have already been delivered to Tehran,” ITAR-TASS quoted an unnamed, high-ranking source as saying Friday.

Moscow has consistently defended its weapons trade with Iran. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said the contract for 29 rocket systems, signed in December last year, was legitimate because the Tor-M1 has a purely defensive role.

Blood of Patriots

There have been a large number of casualties in Iraq the past few days.  It’s sad.  It’s essential.  If freedom came free no one would value it.  That’s part of the problem in the USA today.  So, as tragic as it is, it will prove to be a deterrent to going back to the bad old days when freedom finally comes to IRAQ.

Orson Scott Card wrote a very long dissertation I have excerpted from in the past.  Here is the 3rd installment.  Elephants are best eaten one bite at a time.

Democracy – the Other Hope

Wherever Islamicism has been tried, the result has been identical to Communism’s miserable track record. The people are oppressed; the worst sort of vigilantes and thugs terrorize the population; the new power elite, regardless of their supposed piety and dedication to a holy cause, is quickly corrupted and comes to love the wealth and privileges of power.

When there is no hope of deliverance, the people have no choice but to bow under the tyrant’s lash, pretending to be true believers while yearning for relief. In Russia it came ... after more than 70 years. China and Cuba are still waiting – but then, they started later.

So it would be in the Muslim world – if Islamicism were ever able to come to seem inevitable and irresistible.

You know: If America withdrew from Iraq and Afghanistan and exposed everyone who had cooperated with us to reprisals.

As happened in South Vietnam. The negotiated peace was more or less holding after American withdrawal. But then a Democratic Congress refused to authorize any further support for the South Vietnamese government. No more armaments. No more budget.

In other words, we forcibly disarmed our allies, while their enemies continued to be supplied by the great Communist powers. The message was clear: Those who rely on America are fools. We didn’t even have the decency to arrange for the evacuation of the people who had trusted us and risked the most in supporting what they thought was our mutual cause.

We did it again, this time in the Muslim world, in 1991, when Bush Senior encouraged a revolt against Saddam. He meant for the senior military officers to get rid of him in a coup; instead, the common people in the Shiite south rose up against Saddam.

Bush Senior did nothing as Saddam moved in and slaughtered them. The tragedy is that all it would have taken is a show of force on our part in support of the rebels, and Saddam’s officers would have toppled him. Only when it became clear that we would do nothing did it become impossible for any high-ranking officials to take action. For the price of the relatively easy military action that would have made Saddam turn his troops around and leave the Shiite south, we could have gotten rid of him then – and had grateful friends, perhaps, in the Shiite south.

That is part of our track record: Two times we persuaded people to commit themselves to action against oppressive enemies, only to abandon them. Do you think that would-be rebels in Iran and Syria and North Korea don’t remember those lessons?

Fortunately, there are other lessons as well: West Germany and Japan, Taiwan and South Korea, where liberated nations were protected. In the first two, we took on the task of nation building and transformed both political cultures into democracies. In the latter two, we tolerated strongman dictatorships for many years, but eventually we made it clear that it was time for democracy, and under our protective umbrella, the governments were transformed and oppression ended.

So ... which America is operating now in the Muslim world?

In Iraq and Afghanistan – but especially Iraq – President Bush is behaving according to America’s best and most honorable tradition. We did not come to destroy, we came to liberate and rescue, he says – by word and deed. We bring freedom and opportunity. Our money will help rebuild your devastated (or never built-up) economies; our expertise will help train your most talented people to be ready for prosperity and self-government; and our military will keep enemies from overwhelming you as you reinvent yourselves.

Instead of leaving an empty house, swept clean but unprotected, waiting for the devils of Islamic puritanism to come take over, President Bush has sworn that America will bring democracy, and that American soldiers will do their best to protect the decent, ordinary people until they are able to protect themselves.

Christian Coalition is only a right-leaning hit squad

AP -

The Reverend elected to take over as president of the Christian Coalition of America said he will not assume the role because of differences in philosophy.

The Rev. Joel Hunter, of Longwood’s Northland, A Church Distributed, said Wednesday that the national group would not let him expand the organization’s agenda beyond opposing abortion and gay marriage.

This is the latest setback for the group founded in 1989 by religious broadcaster the Rev. Pat Robertson. Four states - Georgia, Alabama, Iowa and Ohio - have decided to split from the group over concerns its changing direction on issues like the minimum wage, the environment and Internet law instead of core issues like abortion and same-sex marriage.

“These are issues that Jesus would want us to care about,” Hunter said.

He resigned Tuesday during an organization board meeting. Hunter said he was not asked to leave.

“They pretty much said, ‘These issues are fine, but they’re not our issues, that’s not our base,’” Hunter said.

A statement issued by the coalition said Hunter resigned because of “differences in philosophy and vision.” The board accepted his decision “unanimously,” it states.

The organization, headed by President Roberta Combs, claims a mailing list of 2.5 million.

So let me get this straight, the Christian Coalition will not argue for the same things that Jesus did in the Bible including poverty and the environment. Apparently, this group isn’t really concerned about all the teachings of Christ. Only those things that will not hurt the Republican Party in the eyes of Christians, teachings like abortion and gay marriage. I want to say Thank You to the Christian Coalition, you have shown me that you are not really religious. You are only a right-leaning hit squad that uses religion as a cover.

The Humor Behind the Laffer Curve

Most of us know of the Laffer Curve.

Yesterday, Art Laffer was on Rush with Roger Hedgecock and made a statement to the effect of - illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay because all they really lack is a little paperwork.

Dug up an interesting article on Laffer here are some excerpts:
On immigration:

Immigration is the lifeblood of American prosperity. These people are not a problem, they are a solution. When you get this high-quality labor coming in - including illegals - it does not get any better. If we were able to stop illegal immigration, you’d see California fall off the face of the earth.

Controlling our borders and verifying that people who are in this nation is not just a matter of paperwork; it is a matter of the Rule of Law.

If we ignore the laws of our nation, how in the world do we expect people in Iraq to understand those principles?
On the trade deficit:

We’re the only developed country that is a growth country. Do growth companies lend money or borrow money? They borrow money. We are the capital magnet of the planet. Where would you like your money invested? The Middle East? How about Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela? [To generate the dollars needed] to buy U.S.-located assets, [foreigners have] to sell more goods to us, and they’ve got to buy less goods from us. The only way they can generate the dollar cash-flow to invest in the United States, is for them to run a trade surplus with us, and us to have a trade deficit ...

Do not think of our trade deficit as a problem. It is an answer. These people are providing us with the real resources that increase our output, employment, production, productivity.

Why do we want to allow China the surplus to throw US dollars around and drive up the price of oil? Every dollar that China obtains from American commerce can be used to price us out of the world market.

---

Being right on economics does not mean someone automaticly correct on national policy.

FR Adds: If our prosperity is based on illegal immigration, then our prosperity is not legitimate and liable to burst just as the dot com bubble did.

And do we really want to have the prosperity of our nation to be built on the backs of people whose first act in this nation is to disrespect and disobey our laws?

Talk about a slippery slope.

God and FDR Minus the ACLU 65 Years Ago

As a marker as to how far we have come or not on this Thanksgiving Day 2006 I am printing below excerpts from FDR that I read this morning in Christian Breaking News.

It occurs to me that if a President Bush or even Clinton said anything like this today the Hue and Cry risen up against them by the ACLU, Liberal Press, and Barry Lind would drown out the appeals to “Pass the Turkey”.  We are in deep doo doo in this country and maybe by looking back 65 years we can get our bearings again.

From Breaking News:

Presidential Thanksgiving Proclamations are fascinating insights into American history. As this Thanksgiving approaches, the sobering words of Franklin D. Roosevelt during Thanksgivings celebrated while fighting WWII, ring familiar to us who pray for our men and women fighting on the frontlines in the War on Terror today. The following are excerpts from some of these humble and inspiring Proclamations:

1942

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord. Across the uncertain ways of space and time our hearts echo those words, for the days are with us again when, at the gathering of the harvest, we solemnly express our dependence upon Almighty God. The final months of this year, now almost spent, find our Republic and the Nations joined with it waging a battle on many fronts for the preservation of liberty.

In giving thanks for the greatest harvest in the history of our Nation, we who plant and reap can well resolve that in the year to come we will do all in our power to pass that milestone; for by our labors in the fields we can share some part of the sacrifice with our brothers and sons who wear the uniform of the United States.

It is fitting that we recall now the reverent words of George Washington, “Almighty God, we make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy Protection,” and that every American in his own way lift his voice to heaven. I recommend that all of us bear in mind this great Psalm: (Quotes the 23rd Psalm).”

1943

God’s help to us has been great in this year of march towards world-wide liberty. In brotherhood with warriors of other United Nations our gallant men have won victories, have freed our homes from fear, have made tyranny tremble, and have laid the foundation for freedom of life in a world which will be free…Our forges and hearths and mills have wrought well; and our weapons have not failed. Our farmers, victory gardeners, and crop volunteers have gathered and stored a heavy harvest in the barns and bins and cellars. Our total food production for the year is the greatest in the annals of our country…

For all these things we are devoutly thankful, knowing also that so great mercies exact from us the greatest measure of sacrifice and service…May we on Thanksgiving Day, and on every day, express our gratitude and zealously devote ourselves to our duties as individuals and as a nation. May each of us dedicate his utmost efforts to speeding the victory which will bring new opportunities for peace and brotherhood among men.

1944

In this year of liberation, which has seen so many millions freed from tyrannical rule, it is fitting that we give thanks with special fervor to our Heavenly Father for the mercies we have received individually and as a nation and for the blessings He has restored, through the victories of our arms and those of our allies, to His children in other lands.

For the preservation of our way of life from the threat of destruction; for the unity of spirit which has kept our Nation strong; for our abiding faith in freedom; and for the promise of an enduring peace, we should lift up our hearts in thanksgiving. For the harvest that has sustained us and, in its fullness, brought succor to other peoples; for the bounty of our soil, which has produced the sinews of war for the protection of our liberties; and for a multitude of private blessings, known only in our hearts, we should give united thanks to God.

To the end that we may bear more earnest witness to our gratitude to Almighty God, I suggest a nationwide reading of the Holy Scriptures during the period from Thanksgiving Day to Christmas. Let every man of every creed go to his own version of the Scriptures for a renewed and strengthening contact with those eternal truths and majestic principles which have inspired such measure of true greatness as this nation has achieved.

Another Hysterical Episode From The Religion Of The Perpetual Tantrum

Here’s a question:

If three dudes in Islamic dress stood up on a plane all at once and started chanting in Arabic would that alarm you?

If it doesn’t then you’re a candidate for this year’s Darwin award.

But when it happened aboard a U.S. Airways flight that was set to leave the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport and people got alarmed, resulting in the removal of those three and three others, CAIR says that it’s Islamaphobia.

The president of the group, one Mr. Shahin, says that they were just standing and reciting their prayers as 1.7 billion muslims do every day.

No they weren’t. I’ve been on flights from different points across the world including the Middle East that had many Muslims aboard. I’ve never seen them stand and pray like that aboard a plane.

This wasn’t an exercise in the freedom of their religion. This was an in-your-face confrontation. A look-at-what-I’m-doing-and-I-hope-you-don’t-like-it display of religious arrogance.

Those Imams had to have been aware of the current wary state of mind of air travelers. Not only did they not care that they might create a situation in which they would be confronted, I believe that they actually wanted one.

Why?

Because then they can scream “Islamaphobia!” at the top of their lungs. It’s another attempt at the manipulation of the media. It will work to a degee, too, unless this their act is seen through.

Nobody is telling these guys that they can’t pray on a plane. Hell, I've prayed on a plane many times and most likely so have you. But these guys, instead of quietly doing their thing made it obtrusive and obvious. And nobody can blame people for becoming alarmed when radical Islam boasts about their desire to send people crashing in huge balls of flame to their deaths. They want to kill us and they tell us that over and over again. If these guys have a beef it's with the homicidal maniacs who've hijacked their religion, not with the people they alarmed on that plane.

Like I said, if you didn’t become alarmed when they stood and started chanting then I would question your whole instinct for survival thing.

Well, those poor Imams say they were humiliated because they were removed from the plane in hancuffs. That’s after they were asked to de-plane for questioning and they refused.

Here’s a message for them: Tough. You knew what you were doing when you started this. It could have been worse.

Coffe, tea, or taser, sir?

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are heading to DC for the holiday, and Friday I will spend at Arlington. Hope everyone has an excellent Thanksgiving. Even those I disagree with.
