Oliver Willis Lobs A Grenade
These are uneasy times for the left. President Bush has been elected twice and Republicans have had majorities in both Houses of Congress after each of the last six elections. Clearly the contemporary version of liberalism just isn't persuading a lot of Americans.
The left invested a lot in this last election, all of it for naught. Billionaire George Soros alone donated tens of millions of dollars to a number of left-wing causes including Media Matters, the organization lefty blogger Oliver Willis works for. One has to wonder just how much longer Soros will be willing to fund Media Matters given recent failures, which leads me to believe that Oliver is getting a little desperate. He must be looking for a way to support himself once the plug gets pulled from Media Matters, hence the new brand of clothing and this plea for attention:
In case it wasn't clear, by "American Taliban" Willis is referring to those of us on the right side of the political spectrum.
Kinda of sad, isn't it? A person reduced to throwing around inflammatory comments as a means of drawing attention himself, even if it is the negative kind. And why not. P.T. Barnum once said that you could say anything about him you wanted, just be sure to spell his name right.
Next Oliver will be comparing Bush to Hitler. Why? Because that's the sort of thing that grabs people's attention. It doesn't matter if it isn't an even remotely apt comparison, all that matters is that it will piss people off and bring in loads of attention.
So by way of providing Oliver with enough rope to hang himself, I link to his hateful little diatribe in the hope that you will see it and recognize it for what it is: Hateful rhetoric spewed by a bitter and wholly partisan hack.
