Which War Are The Democrats Fighting?

A war against the President, as it turns out.  Not that it surprises anybody.

Democratic lawmakers expect to open new fronts against the president when they return from their spring recess, including politically risky efforts to quickly close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; reinstate legal rights for terrorism suspects; and rein in what Democrats see as unwarranted encroachments on privacy and civil liberties allowed by the USA Patriot Act.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’d like my lawmakers to be opening up “new fronts” against the terrorists.  But these blinkered partisans are far too worried about undermining a President they hate and consolidating their own political power to take the war on terror seriously.

And don’t think our enemies aren’t watching this spectacle.  You think Mahmoud Ahmadinejad isn’t sitting over in Iran laughing with glee when he hears the Democratswarn the President on using military power against his country?  You think he isn’t happy to watch the Democrats undermine their own President’s foreign policy instead of looking to undermine Iran’s quest to attain nuclear power and topple our mission in Iraq?

He is.  Which doesn’t mean that the Democrats support Iran’s agenda, or the agenda of any of the other world threats they’re ignoring by putting the President at the top of their party’s enemies list, but just that they’re so dumb that they see our President as the bigger threat.
