Why was there no outrage when Wesley Clark
was dropping bombs on Kosovar civilians? Where was the compassion for the victim's of war from these protestors when Clinton tried to wipe Monica Lewinsky from the headlines with military action in Bosnia? In 1995 Bill Clinon promised the American people that the operation he was proposing for Bosnia was "clear, limited and achievable" and that total deployment would take "about one year." Yet the conflict took more than a year, and while Clinton promised that he would not engage in the type of "nation-building" Bush is now being accused of, he refused to bring the troops home until multiethnic political institutions, an independent judiciary, and a free press were created.
Where were the accusations of imperialism then? Where were the quotes in the paper asking if it was ok to root against our troops? What a horrible thing, by the way. It really shows how the liberals like to divide the country, it isn't their war in Iraq, its Bush's and the conservatives war.
Towards the end of NATO's 78-day war in Kosovo, Gen. Wesley Clark repeatedly ordered cluster bombing on marketplaces, hospitals and other civilan areas. Nothing even remotely like this type of indescriminate destruction has occurred in Iraq, yet the liberal left would have us compare George W. Bush to Saddam Hussein and Adolf Hitler.
There is a double standard being applied to the war in Iraq. Many of these protestors aren't really worked up over the war, they're just angry at who is leading this country right now and they're willing to do whatever it takes to bring him down. They're desperate. Time after time Bush has shown his resolve in dealing with the problems that face our great nation and his success has the liberals in turmoil. They don't want our country to do well under Republican rule, they want Bush to fail so that once again they're candidates can gain power.
Well I'm not buying into it. Our President is waging a war against terrorists. He is protecting our country from more attacks by destroying the source of the attacks. As a by-product, he has ended two oppressive regimes so far and begun an introduction to freedom for millions of people. Clinton initiated a military campaign, risking the lives of our troops, to take attention away from his presidential hummer.
Can you imagine what the world would be like right now if we had elected Al Gore?
