Five years ago.  A year before the Virginia State Legislature outlawed carrying firearms on campuses.

Last week the death toll from a rampaging shooter among the unarmed denizens of Virginia Tech was 33.  The death toll from the shooting five years ago among the armed students at the Appalachian School of Law, where the shooter was brought down by two armed students shortly after he began his grim mission, was 3.

Both incidents are tragic, but I’d say that 3 is better than 33, wouldn’t you?
