Nice.

You know, I don’t care how people worship, no matter how silly or controversial their beliefs are. That’s well within the category of “their business”. But what I don’t understand is why, when a supposed “Christian” minister makes statements like this that there isn’t a stampede to the exits:

Barack Obama has finally distanced himself from Rev. Jeremiah Wright after a 20-year relationship, but the pastor who is replacing Wright at Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ is likely to be just as controversial.

New Trinity pastor Otis Moss has called Biblical patriarch Abraham a “pimp” and made other statements many would consider offensive.

That’s not all. Here is the type of person he considers worthy of praise:

But a videotape of a sermon he delivered at Wright’s church shows this “wonderful young pastor” referring to “ghetto prophets” and “thug theology,” calling the late rapper Tupac Shakur a “prophet,” and reciting at length lyrics to Shakur’s song “Thugz Mansion.”

Tupac. Yeah, there’s a fine example of humanity. That is, if mysogynistic, foul mouthed, crime promoting gangsters are who you want to look up to, of course.

Oh....and who called this guy a “wonderful young pastor”? Why, the man who could be our nest president, that’s who:

After Obama called Wright’s comments “divisive and destructive,” a questioner noted that Rev. Moss has defended Wright and asked if Obama would continue attending the church.

“Well, the new pastor, the young pastor, Reverend Otis Moss, is a wonderful young pastor,” Obama responded. “And as I said, I still very much value the Trinity community.”

Like I said, I don’t care how you worship. If you want to swing a dead cat around your head by the light of the full moon naked in a cemetary because that’s what charges your religious batteries, go right ahead. It’s your right. And it doesn’t affect anyone except maybe the cat.

In this case, though, I think calling Tupac a “prophet” is a stretch and I mean a big one. And referring to Abraham as a “pimp” is beyond the realm of good taste - and good preaching. His saying things like that from the pulpit aren’t just affecting him. Is this social indoctrination or religion? And as far as I’m concerned anyone who would preach this nonsense has about as much credibility as the guy swinging the above mentioned cat.

Why is this guy’s congregation still flocking around him? I don’t get it.
