Cox and Forkum has a cartoon asking where are the so-called moderate Muslims who oppose violence. With few exceptions, the 'moderate' Muslims have been quiet. Perhaps they have been quiet out of fear, which if true, condemns Islam as radically intolerant all by itself.

Equally possible is that the lack of response is tacit acceptance of the violence. As one of my professors told his class when they did not argue against one of his statements: "Silence is assent".

As usual Mark Steyn has the skinny on the irrational Mohamed cartoon riots and the apparent absence of moderate Muslims. With regard to the riots, Mark states:

With regard to moderate Muslims, Mark has this to say:

I've met plenty of "moderate Muslims" in Jordan and Iraq and the Gulf states. But, as a reader wrote to me a year or two back, in Europe and North America they aren't so much "moderate Muslims" as quiescent Muslims. The few who do speak out wind up living in hiding or under 24-hour armed guard, like Dutch MP Ayaab Hirsi Ali.
