Roger the Rocket had an emotional win last night as the Bronx was filled with patriotism. Roger watched the children reading the names of their family members who died on 9/11 and was apparently sincerely moved:

"That's difficult, when you have to hear a young kid who's not an adult do that."

Roger came out and pitched 6 2/3 strong innings against the lowly Tigers, only allowing 2 runs and striking out six.

Jorge Posada stayed hot at the plate and had a nice little defensive play at home tagging out a runner.

Nick Johnson homered again while Bernie Williams continued to show signs of life with his 12th homer of the year.

The Yankees won 5-2, sweeping the series. They'll play Tampa Bay tonight. Let's hope the offense continues to produce.

I sent an email to Alex Belth yesterday. I guess I'd describe Alex as my blogging mentor. His Bronx Banter blog was my inspiration for starting a blog. I wanted to let him know how much I appreciated his daily perspective on my favorite team, and he responded in kind complimenting me on a nice start with this blog.

He also recommended that I check out a website done by a comedian friend of his. He apparently does some sort of lounge singer act, reminding me of Andy Kaufman in his Tony Clifton years. I haven't checked it out but I've got it on my agenda for later today. I'm sure it will be quite entertaining.
