Earlier today I posted about a fight between Senate Democrats and Republicans over earmarks and ethics reform.  Republicans are trying to make the reform as comprehensive and exacting as possible by including measures such as a line item veto (of sorts) for the President and the same tough earmarking rules implemented by Nancy Pelosi in the House.  Democrats are trying to get by with just superficial earmark reform without many of the inclusions suggested by Republicans.

So what words does the Associated Press choose to describe this rancor?  You maybe won’t be surprised…

WASHINGTON (AP) A Democratic effort to pass ethics reform has been derailed by a partisan dispute in the Senate.

Stupid Republicans getting in the way of Democrat ethics reforms.

Seriously, though.  The real description should be “Democrat ethics reforms waylaid by Republicans who want something more substantial.”
