"The Republican Party is now principally moderate, if not liberal!" exulted Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), after the Senate -- including a majority of Republicans -- approved his budget-busting amendment to spend an extra $7 billion on domestic programs.
Sure, Senator Specter, get excited about the GOP becoming a bunch of liberals. Its not like the people of this country voted Republicans into power to act like conservatives or anything.

Honestly, though, I just don't get it. Liberalism is moving the Democrat party to the margins. People are rejecting it. They swept Republicans into power in Washington in the mid-90's because they bought into the conservative principles those politicians campaigned on. Why on earth would these conservatives get into office and start acting like a bunch of liberals?
It just doesn't make sense.
