Just to make that clear, the Democrats (in the House at least) are pushing an Iraq funding bill they know full well the President will veto and most their party colleagues in the Senate won’t support.

Why are they doing this?  Because this is their back-door way to bleed off funding for the war without actually cutting it off.

Remember that Nancy Pelosi promised before the elections to not end the war by cutting off funds for it.  Remember also that most Americans don’t want a bill that ends the war by cutting off funding.  So how do the Democrats deal with that?  They pretend like they’re going to pass a bill while doing nothing but sending Bush a bunch of unacceptable junk that he’s just not going to sign into law.

That way the troops don’t get their funds and the war could potentially be choked off even as our soldiers fight and die under the impression that we’re, you know, actually trying to win in Iraq.

Now take a moment and appreciate the acrid smell of immoral, uncaring, callous, cynical partisanship it takes to do something like this.
