Recently I've posted some troublesome details about North Dakota Senator Byron Dorgan's involvement with the investigation into corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff. I previously called for North Dakotans to request that Dorgan step down from his position in a Congressional investigation of Abramoff due to these connections.

I wanted to share with you all an email I've sent to Sen. Dorgan:

Senator Dorgan,

I have been following the stories of corruption surrounding Mr. Jack Abramoff and was saddened to see your name included in a list of politicians who had received donations from that man's clients. I understand that there is no evidence as yet to suggest that you were involved in any sort of ethical or legal violations, but the fact that you received money from Abramoff's clients after taking political action favorable to them (money that was donated, according to the groups themselves, at the behest of Mr. Abramoff) casts a shadow over your ability to be an objective investigator of the situation.

As your constituent, I request that you step down from the investigation of Jack Abramoff. For the sake of your own integrity and for the integrity of our state.

Sincerely,

Rob Port

I'll post any replies I get.

You can send your own message to Senator Dorgan here.

Update:

Looks like Dorgan has been a little misleading about his personal relationship with Jack Abramoff.
