Ward Churchill is a college professor who recently penned a rather offensive opinion article comparing the victims of 9/11 to a Nazi SS officer. Many have been calling for the termination of his post at the University of Colorado, but I don't think that's the right course of action. Instead, I think Glenn Reynolds and Stephen Bainbridge have it right:

This one of those occasions when those of us on the right need to suck it up and echo the line famously attributed to Voltaire: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." We do not remain true to our values if we are willing to say "free speech for me, but not for thee," even if that is what Churchill likely would say if the shoe were on the other foot.

I'd only add that the college should also be forced to stick to its poor decision in hiring the dummy to begin with. Let them live with the embarrassment he brings to their university. Perhaps it will serve as a lesson for them when considering future decisions regarding who they allow to be associated with their organization.
