It’s unbelievable to me that Ayers can claim that the Weather Underground never killed or hurt anyone, and that the group didn’t represent terrorism.

We know that Weather Underground members certainly murdered people during activities such as bank robberies conducted in order to provide the group with funds.  We also know that the Weather Underground plotted attacks that would have murdered hundreds of people.  A notable example of this was the bombing they plotted for a dance hall filled with soldiers and their dates at the Ft. Dix military base.  And, finally, what of the intimidation the group engaged in?  Throwing fire bombing the homes of judges?  Calling on kids to murder their parents?  Rioting?  Vandalism?  Kidnapping?  Prison breaks?

None of these things has a place in democratic politics.  It’d be one thing if the Weather Underground were a resistance group operating within a totalitarian regime, but they weren’t.  They were a bunch of radical liberals throwing a temper tantrum about the Vietnam War and living out their fantasies of imposing their socialist on their fellow citizens.
