This from the geniuses at Truthout who told us a year ago that Rove’s arrest in the Plame non-scandal was imminent.
Of course, that government spending on outsourcing during the course of the Bush administration has gone up has nothing to do with:
- 9/11 and the subsequent build up of homeland security.
- The fact that we’ve been fighting two wars in the middle east for over four years now.
- The fact that Bush is, sort of, a conservative. And conservatives tend to believe that private industry does a better job at most things than the government.
Jim Hightower, the author of the article in question, suggests that the expansion of government contracts under the Bush administration represents Bush catering to his “cronies.” And while Bush has made certain questionable moves in that regard (the appointment of Michael Brown as FEMA director, for instance) his point is a bit overwrought.
Just wait until you get to the part where he accuses FedEx and UPS of trying to undermine “America’s principle and universal service for everyone” the Post Office. Because apparently that’s Bush’s fault too.
