Saddam’s Fate Is Near

It looks like Saddam Hussein is slated to be sentenced and executed within weeks.

Which surprised me. I fully expected the trial of Saddam Hussein to get more press coverage. I posted here that I fully expected his trial to become a full-blown media circus. Any day now I was expecting to see an ominous headline about scurrilous charges Saddam Hussein had made against America and its allies during his trial. Charges that would no-doubt be taken seriously (if not at face value) by the majority of the anti-war left and hyped endlessly by the ratings-hungry media.

That hasn't happened. At least not yet.

As for what Saddam's punishment should be, I don't think he should be put to death. Not that I don't think he's guilty enough for that. Far from it. I just happen to think that there are fates worse then death. Like being forced to sit in a cell and be confronted with those he tortured and oppressed for decades ten hours a day, seven days a week.
