Number of badly wounded soldiers on rise in Iraq
And why is the number of soldiers being badly wounded rising in Iraq?
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Reuters) - Military medical advances are keeping more soldiers alive in the Iraq War but also creating a growing pool of badly wounded veterans who will need expensive, long-term medical care, the U.S. secretary of Veteran Affairs said on Friday.
Because fewer of the soldiers are dying!
Who knew that even keeping more soldiers alive on the field of battle could be spun into a negative. Talk about cynical. One almost gets the idea that whoever is responsible for the headline is bitter over the lower body counts.
Interesting tid-bit found buried at the bottom of the article:
Nicholson said the current Veterans Affairs budget of $70 billion is up 57 percent during the four budget years of the Bush administration.
Of course, we wouldn't have to be spending that money if the soldiers would just die on the field.
