It’s nice to see the GOP standing up to some of this profligate and unnecessary spending (it would have been nice had they showed this kind of backbone when they were in the majority) but part of me wonders if they’re playing into the Dems’ hands on this one. 

If this bill gets passed the Democrats get the $20 billion in pork they’ve attached to it.  If it doesn’t pass the Dems get to watch our military struggle to keep the operations in the middle east running past the mid-April deadline which will have them cutting back on maintenance to facilities and equipment in order to make ends meet.

And the Dems are well aware that if the military doesn’t get its funding it will be hurting the comfort, safety and training of our troops.  They’re just pretending like they don’t and lying to us all about it.
