Remember all those documents captured in Iraq and Afghanistan I posted about on Monday of this week? The ones the President was pushing to have made public? Looks like the information contained in them is going to make a big splash.

New documents released by the U.S. Army show that Iraqi intelligence agents knew that Osama bin Laden was in contact with the Iraqi government. This is in addition to other documents which prove conclusively that Iraqi intelligence was aware of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's presence in Iraq.

Text from one of the documents in question:

In the Name of God the Merciful

Presidency of the Republic
Intelligence Apparatus

To the respectful Mr. M.A.M

Subject: Information

Our source in Afghanistan No 11002 (for information about him see attachment 1) provided us with information that that Afghani Consul Ahmad Dahestani (for information about him see attachment 2) told him the following:

1. That Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban in Afghanistan are in contact with Iraq and it that previously a group from Taliban and Osama Bin Laden group visited Iraq.

More here.

More documents available online here. As I've said before, I have a gut feeling that this information is going to impact the public's opinion of Bush's middle-eastern policies in a positive fashion.
