A PR victory for Obama, no doubt, but it’s worth noting that Powell (who has all but repudiated his support for the invasion of Iraq while a member of the Bush administration) was a) never politically conservative and b) has been as wrong on Iraq as Obama since leaving the Bush administration.

Powell was the dissenter in the Bush administration on Iraq.  Events in Iraq over the last year have proven that Powell was wrong.  Meaning that Powell’s endorsement of Obama really isn’t much to write home about.

Update: Here’s a thought: Hasn’t the left been accusing Powell of propagating Bush’s lies about the invasion of Iraq at the UN among other places?  And now they’re happy about “lying liar” endorsing Obama?

It’s true that the Obama campaign is trying to line up some high-profile Republicans, but I do not think Powell will be one of them.
