Remember on Friday when this story about the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace who was reportedly going to advise the President to withdraw half of the troops from Iraq by next year?  Turns out the story, which created a lot of buzz, wasn’t all that accurate:

Pace on Friday said, “The story is wrong, it is speculative. I have not made or decided on any recommendations yet.”

There are a lot of publications in the media that are going to need to do a retraction or correction.  But, of course, those retractions/corrections would get near the attention the original story did.

Not that most of the journalists care about that.  They got their sensational, anti-war headline out of it.  That it was ultimately wrong just doesn’t matter.
