One North Dakota National Guard Soldier has been killed in Afghanistan and two were wounded in a rocket propelled grenade attack.

The guard says 24 year old Nathan Good Iron of Mandaree was killed Thursday in Afghanistan when an RPG hit the vehicle he was driving.

Also wounded was Special Samuel Floberg of Fargo and Sargeant Claude O’Berry of Mandaree.

The soldiers were participating in a combat patrol mission escorting a military convoy when they were attacked.Good Iron is the sixth U-S service member from North Dakota serving with a state military unit to be killed this year in the war on Terror.

Good Iron’s father, Paul, says his son died doing what he wanted to do serving his country.

Good Iron is the 11th ND National Guard soldier to die in the war on terror.
