Obama’s Popularity Plummets - Among White Women

Boy, this is a turn around from the days when they fainted at the mere sound of his voice, dropping like flies at his feet. Actually, I still think much of that whole thing was staged in the same way George Martin cleverly staged the early fainting fans of the Beatles. It worked, too. In both cases.

But, some of the magic seems to have faded:

Barack Obama’s favorability ratings among white women has declined significantly in recent months, particularly among Democrats and independents, presenting an immediate obstacle for the likely Democratic nominee as he moves to shore up his party’s base.

According to a new report by The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, half of white women now have a negative perception of Obama.

Forty-nine percent of white women view Obama unfavorably, while only 43 percent hold a favorable opinion. In February, 36 percent of these women viewed Obama unfavorably, while 56 percent had a positive perception of the likely Democratic nominee.

Over the same period, Democratic white women’s negative view of Obama increased from 21 percent to 35 percent, while their positive view decreased from 72 percent to 60 percent — roughly the same rate as white women overall.

So...what happened?

Why the sudden drastic drop in the numbers? Is it (A) because women are flocking the Hillary’s banner in a show of solidarity? Is it (B) because women aren’t getting Obama’s message? Or is it (C) because women are starting to recognize the fact that their new messiah is an empty suit that’s good with rhetoric and slogans and little else, and who has some very shady past and present acquaintances and who is basically about as deep as your front yard bird bath?

I pick “C”.

This isn’t the end of people drifting away from Obama, either. As time goes on and he continues committing blunder after blunder and showing over and over again that he ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed, his flock will become more and more disillusioned with him. Familiarity, after all, breeds contempt.

And Obama is starting to show that he is, in fact, somewhat contemptible.

Seen any fainting lately?
