This is such utter bunk.

(CNN) – Looking back at his two-year sprint for the presidency, Barack Obama told CBS he was most angered by “right-wing” attacks on his wife, Michelle, and said many of them were “completely out of bounds.”

“I do believe there is a Republican or right-wing media outlet, or set of media outlets, that went after my wife for a while in a way that I thought was just completely out of bounds,” Obama told CBS’ Katie Couric in an interview that aired Monday morning.

“Frankly, I would never have considered or expected my allies to do something comparable to the spouse of an opponent. I just feel like family are civilians.”

Obama’s wife was never attacked.  She was criticized, and rightfully so.

If Obama didn’t want to expose her to criticism, he shouldn’t have put her in front of the public as a representative of her campaign.  Something she absolutely was when she took the stage at campaign/political events and spoke.

This is America.  If you’re going to talk politics you’re going to get criticized by someone.  Nobody is exempt from this.  Not even Barack Obama’s wife.

And by the way, that crack about Obama not expecting any of his allies to go after his opponent’s spouse?  How many Daily Kos posts (a place Obama has posted at himself) have been written cracking wise about Cindy McCain being a prescription drug abuser?
