Obama: I’m For Same Sex Marriage Except When I’m Against It

What an idiot:

Barack Obama’s nuanced position on same-sex marriage is on full display in an MTV interview which is set to air on Monday.

Obama told MTV he believes marriage is “between a man and a woman” and that he is “not in favor of gay marriage.”

At the same time, Obama reiterated his opposition to Proposition 8, the California ballot measure which would eliminate a right to same-sex marriage that the state’s Supreme Court recently recognized.

So he’s against gay marriage except when it’s convenient for him to be for it.  That’s not leadership.  That’s pandering.  Pure and simple.  Obama knows Proposition 8 is big with the liberal Hollywood power base right now so he’s not going to stick to principle.  He’s going to take the easy way out.

Now, personally, I don’t care much about gay marriage.  Generally, I think gays should be allowed to marry have voted that way on ballot measures in my state, but ultimately I don’t really care that much.  But I do care when politicians can’t even be bothered to take a position on something like this and stick to it.
