The National Journal's Hotline blog has an interesting post up today about North Dakotans they feel are up-and-coming political stars.

I don't see much there I disagree with, but I did see some glaring omissions. Like Matt Mechtel, Duane DeKrey and Dwight Grotberg. Mechtel and DeKrey are both solid candidates for the NDGOP nod to run against Earl Pomeroy (the fact that DeKrey is in the race caused Congressional Quarterly to lower the estimate of Pomeroy's safety as the incumbent), and while Grotberg is a relative unknown he is running unopposed for the nomination to take on Kent Conrad.

Outside of omitting these three men, however, the run-down is an interesting summary of the "players" in ND politics.
