Public broadcasting is a rather brazen spectacle of mutual back-scratching, isn’t it? I see that North Dakota’s all-Democrat congressional delegation just got done patting themselves on the back for getting Prairie Public Broadcasting an additional $316,000 in federal funding to expand their operations. And here’s how that works.
Public broadcasting produces content with an overwhelmingly liberal slant. Meaning that most of the time their programming favors liberals like Senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan, along with Rep. Earl Pomeroy. Those liberals respond by securing hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding from public coffers for public broadcasting outfits.
What they’re doing, essentially, is funding liberal advocacy masquerading as objective programming with our tax dollars.
It’s a pretty cozy situation, if you ask me, though one that’s totally unnecessary in this modern era of communication where anyone with a computer and an internet connection can reach a potential audience of millions.
